Walrus Bloodfist was born on the feral world of Karlak before the Emperor arrived and was taken to become a World Eater; since then Walrus has become lost to the Butchers Nails most of the time, only able to stay close to calm when he is polishing skulls and creating arrays of blood and skulls in the name of Khorne.

History[]

Born on Karlak, Walrus became a popular member of his clan for his brutal efficiency alongside displays of power and honour. After the World Eaters arrived in 894.M30 , he was taken and recruited by the World Eaters to bolster their numbers shortly before the return of the primarch.

Walrus' first action was as a standard legionary with his boltgun and a chain-bayonet during the Golgothan Slaughter where he would, for his bloody minded methods and extreme violence in melee, be sent to a Rampager squad by the end of the conflict. Walrus would become more and more savage by the end of the conflict, fighting with savagery and almost forgetting himself in some of the melee. He later served in the Liberation of Alpha Shalish and displayed equal ferocity with a complete lack of control at times, having to be held back by his fellows. Walrus would only be able to stay calm after battle by cleaning trophies from his victims, commonly adorning his armour with skulls, heads, and smashed blades from his enemies.

Now implanted with the butchers nails, Walrus fought at the front during the Ghenna Massacre, ensuring that none who he saw survived the attack. By the end of the Massacre Walrus had been covered in enough blood to forever stain his armour and weapons, his chainaxe needing to be replaced after the use broke the chains and clogged the motors.

On Istvaan III Walrus was loyal to Angron and therefore led the attacks against his loyal brethren, joining Angron in the initial assault alongside his fellow traitor World Eaters and taking part in the savage fighting against his brothers. Walrus slew dozens of fellow World Eaters for not following Angron and many more from the Emperors Children, Death Guard, and Sons of Horus as unworthy for following the Emperor. At the end of the battle Walrus slew another World Eater loyal to Angron after they fell to madness and attacked him. In the aftermath of the battle Walrus took MkII power armour from a World Eater Centurion after his own MkIV armour was damaged and irreparable.

During the Shadow Crusade Walrus took a suit of Tartaros Terminator armour from a dead Ultramarine after his own armour was damaged by a landmine. Later this armour was damaged during the Siege of Terra after Walrus was thrown from the walls, only surviving after he landed on a Blood Angel aircraft, bringing it down and getting stuck in a turbine. Walrus was found, flung from his broken armour, near dead, screaming with rage and coughing blood across a burning aircraft. Walrus insists that Khorne saved his life though in reality it is far more likely that he survived due to the damaged turbine cutting his armour from him and absorbing the impact. Once rescued he took pieced together armour that contained parts from Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, and World Eaters MkII, MkIII, MkIV, and MkVI power armour. By the end of the Siege of Terra, Walrus wore the armour he had after his rescue with some further modifications.

Walrus remained with the World Eater legion until they broke apart during the Battle of Skalathrax where he departed with a small number of fellow World Eaters, leading them through the warp to fight the Imperium. Walrus led them back to his homeworld of Karlak first, boarding the station in orbit that monitored the planet and slaughtering the workers and Imperial soldiers and civilians, breaking several holes in the station that left frost over the dead Imperials while leaving the station slick with blood, their skulls his trophies. When Imperial forces finally arrived, several hundred years later, they found headless, bloodless bodies lying frozen throughout the station while bloody symbols of Khorne adorned every surface available. Walrus, after his slaughter above, descended to the planet with righteous fury, every clan on the planet being converted or slaughtered while people were taken to give him more marines and slaves.

After cutting bloody swathes through the Imperium he was cornered in 009.M33, all of his fellow marines dying in battle against the Novamarines alongside his slaves after they were pressed into fighting by the dying World Eaters while he was rendered unconscious after his gunship was shot down. When Walrus recovered he found his allies dead and the mountains they were on filled with Novamarines and Imperial Guard. Walrus found and killed a Novamarine with an autocannon he took from dead Imperial Guard and donned their armour crudely, boarding an Imperial Guard dropship heading for a small transport and killing the soldiers within before fighting his way through the transport and taking control (with very few on board at the time anyway). Walrus took the last few crew members as slaves with what little control he still had and led them out into the warp, alerting the others and being pursued. While his stolen ship was being pursued he started killing his enslaved crew out of rage, in the end the ship being left alone in the warp with its crew all dead and being boarded by a Novamarine terminator after opening comms and yelling at them. Once the boarders reached him he flung himself at them and started shooting the autocannon, in the end killing the Novamarine who was clad in Cataphractii armour by wrestling their power sword from their hands and impaling them with it. While the Novamarines prepared to bomb the ship (since their champion sent to be a surgical strike failed) Walrus haphazardly brought the ship out of the warp then left in a shuttle with the dead Novamarine. Walrus, realising it would take over 10 years to reach the nearest system, took the Cataphractii armour and then proceeded to enter a rage and rip the shuttle apart with his weapons, floating through space towards the nearest system for over 500 years before finally crashing into a moon and claiming it his personal fief.

When Walrus arrived at the moon, having lingered dormant for 513 years, he immediately awoke and descended into a fury, ripping through the habitats and slaughtering the population of the small moon in just under 2 days before any ships could arrive to help them. By the time reinforcements arrived Walrus then captured a ship, declared it his, and then sent it into the warp with the aim of crashing it into another moon a few systems away that he had heard was being used by the Imperial Guard to claim as many kills as possible from worthy soldiers. After another 20 year voyage that killed almost all of his new slaves, Walrus arrived and destroyed several key positions on the moon with the subsequent explosion, throwing himself from an airlock and slaughtering as many as possible once he landed. The panicked Imperial Guard stood no chance against an Indomitus terminator in their state of disarray and were therefore butchered by him, the survivors fleeing. Walrus once again took over a ship, guided it into the warp, and butchered the crew as he waited to cause more bloodshed, continuing for several hundred more years until early M34.

In M34 Walrus Bloodfist, currently onboard a stolen star yacht, was discovered and attacked by vengeful Novamarines. A group of 15 Novamarines (10 tactical marines, an apothecary, a librarian, a chaplain, a company champion, and Lieutenant Lorrenzus) boarded the vessel before it could crash, hoping to confirm his death and rescue any survivors alongside diverting the vessel away from the astropathic communications relay station it was aimed at. After boarding, the marines found that Walrus had painted symbols of Khorne in the blood of those onboard and had left their discarded limbs on the floor, their skulls all missing. Hearing the boarding torpedoes strike, Walrus descended into a rage and butchered the 8 nobles that he had chained so they were always nearby, always keeping the bridge working, giving him skulls, and spraying blood around him. Once he had dispatched with his slaves he left for the attackers, parts of each slave still attached and trailing behind him. As the attackers had split up, the champion was alone when Walrus charged him with a power sword and power fist, grabbing the champion by the throat, breaking their neck and spine, disemboweling them and then finally beheading them for their skull. After the champions death Walrus became for violent, recognising the Novamarines and seeking vengeance, this time finding the 10 man squad, the apothecary, and the chaplain, this time attacking from behind. Walrus, surprise attacking the force, cut through 4 marines and the apothecary before the rest could respond, and, by being among them, forced them to scatter in melee. Forcing his way to their leaders (and killing another 3 marines in melee while making his way there), Walrus grabbed the sergeant by the leg and crushed it before slamming them into the chaplain at full force and then pouncing on them both. Once the leaders of the attacking force had died Walrus was left with a pair of marines who fired their boltguns only twice before he had crushed the skull of one with his power fist and stabbed the other one with the sword, grabbing a dead marines boltgun and firing it one-handed to finish the final Novamarine. The fighting with the tactical squad did serious damage to the ship and created alot of noise which alerted the other group (the lieutenant and the librarian). By the time that the attackers had reached him they were met with Walrus hurling the dead men's krak grenades before charging into melee, firing a stolen bolter and yelling. By the time that the smoke had cleared their librarian was dead and lieutenant missing (the lieutenant had counter-charged him, been cleaved open, and then disarmed, his power broadsword stolen). Walrus left for an airlock, plunging himself into the station by smashing through a stained glass window to start attacking before stealing a small ship in the lower levels that was resupplying them at the time. The Novamarines refused to fire on the station and instead boarded, Walrus escaping after fighting his way through some guards and an astartes before eventually finding the resupply ship and attacking, striking the airlock until the crew finally detached the ship to avoid crippling damage that would strand them. When Walrus escaped this time he tried to ram the Novamarine vessel, in the end forcing them to flee and then crashing the new ship into the relay and capturing an astropath to call for help before slaying them in a rage several days later about how long it would take for more to show up. The astropathic message struggled to get through the warp and was only discovered around 50 years later when another resupply ship arrived and decided to search the rubble, in the end being seized after it docked by the irate World Eater.

After continuing his methods of ramming instillation's and then stealing a ship to get away and repeat, Walrus decided to do something different (to cause more blood to flow than his usual methods), becoming a mercenary for hire to claim more skulls and watch blood flow (and because he was now being hunted by the Ordo Malleus). Walrus works for various traitors in return for skulls and weapons. During the Reign of Blood Walrus attempted to slay Sebastion Thor to keep it going but was stopped and left stranded on a planet 2 systems away from Thor after his ship was identified and shot down by an Imperial Cruiser. Walrus lingered on the surface of the planet he was stranded on for 116 years, building a planet-wide empire on the feudal world before it was noticed by a Word Bearers Warband that he left with, leaving the planet to devolve into a bloody civil war that claimed many lives while he took a select few recruits.

Walrus took part in the 5th Black Crusade after the Word Bearers he was following decided to join the Black Legion. Although Walrus reveled at the chance to fight more astartes, Walrus was unwilling to shed his colours and instead left, leaving with a few of the marines taken from the world he had ruled so many years ago. Walrus led his fanatic followers of Khorne into the Eye of Terror, seeking to rally more cultists and create even more marines that he could release to spread more blood and claim more skulls in the name of Khorne. Walrus remained in the Eye of Terror for what was only 70 years subjectively, roaming from planet to planet, slaying enemies, and claiming mortals. In realspace it was now early M39, so Walrus spending a few years pillaging with his new warband (using many of the same tactics as he had before, launching ships into a structure then killing the survivors and claiming a new vessel) before joining the Black Legion on their 11th Black Crusade, spending much of the Crusade at the front, killing as many orks as possible.

Walrus' Warmongers, as the warband is known at the time, join Abaddons 12th Black Crusade. during the Gothic War, Walrus leads his warband on a boarding action, boarding the Imperial Navy light cruiser 'Sabre of Willpower' and leading several other members of his warband to the bridge, commandeering the vessel and crashing it into a defense array (only half of the boarding party making it off alive before it hits) which allows a push forwards, a number of the marines lasting long enough to be pulled to safety with the others burning up as they enter a planetary atmosphere.

Walrus loses his warband once again as, during the Macharian Heresy, the Warband come face-to-face with Minotaurs after trying to claim a personal fief in the ruined territories. Walrus escapes after being wounded and then placed in a stolen stasis-field by his slaves as they take over the ship. Walrus and 3 others among his warband are let out of their fields as the ship suffers power losses several days later in the warp, the slaves being butchered by the surviving World Eaters for their attempted coup. Within an hour they have claimed the bridge and believe the slaves to all be dead so one of the survivors turns on the wounded Walrus, in the end dying as his own chainsword destroys much of his brain as Walrus turns it on him, the other 2 marines also dying as they both challenged Walrus to a duel for command. Walrus proceeded to continue slaughtering slaves through the ship before being locked in a corridor that is sealed and barricaded shut by survivors, the slaves eventually abandoning the ship and leaving it in an illegal port. His ship, impounded and boarded by the pirates running the port, is stripped of anything valuable before he eventually escapes as the pirates remove some materials being used to block one of the doors. Reclaiming his ship, Walrus decides to abandon it, rigging it to explode before finding a ship about to leave and pressing its crew into service, leaving the station before his ship can explode, setting off a chain reaction that functionally destroys the haphazard facility.

Walrus, having lost two warbands by now, chose against building more forces loyal to him and instead became a travelling mercenary until the First War of Armageddon where he joined his fellow World Eaters, leaving the battlefield only after he had drenched himself in enough gore to forever stain the terminator armour thrice over. During the War, Walrus claimed the life of a Grey Knight in a brutal melee that nearly killed him, taking their skull as an offering to Khorne. After Angron was repelled he once again left to hunt across the stars, spending much of his time in the Eye of Terror among other servants of Khorne before eventually rallying an army of mortals to attack a nearby Daemon World of Slaanesh where he took the head of an Emperors Children sorcerer before withdrawing as his armies were overrun.

Most recently Walrus has taken part in the 13th Black Crusade, being among the forces on Cadia and claiming the honour of being near the front of the assault. During the Crusade, Walrus was able to claim the skull of an Ultramarine from the Heresy that Trayzn had released onto Cadia; he also claimed the armour of the Ultramarine (Tartaros Terminator Armour) as it was superior to his own, damaged, plate.

Physical Appearance[]

Walrus Bloodfist is a servant of Khorne who has dyed his skin red with blood. Walrus has clawed hands and feet, fanged teeth, and is very physically muscular, his scars concealed by the blood-red colour of his normal flesh. Walrus enters battle in a horned helmet, his terminator armour stained red with blood and adorned with many skulls as he can fit without impeding his ability. Walrus is physically very powerful and, even out of armour, wears skulls. When not in battle he can be found out of armour wearing skulls and with blood dripping from him. Walrus' right leg is mechanical along with a part of his left leg after a landmine destroyed it.

Personality[]

Walrus is a brutal and uncaring warrior who revels in the savagery of melee. When not in battle Walrus is normally followed by a group of slaves who keep skulls near him (so that he can polish them and stay calm) and keep anything that could anger him out of the way. Though Walrus typically likes to keep 8 slaves it is far from unknown for him to kill one of them accidentally and when he enters a rage they must flee and lock him away to avoid dying themselves. Walrus is bloody-minded, brutal, and uncompromising, finding anger in most things and always either being distracted by cleaning skulls or in a rage from the Nails. When Walrus is calm, he is not only surprisingly intelligent (though still not very intelligent), but is also known to make (generally not very funny) jokes.

Abilities and Traits[]

Walrus is a brutal and bloodthirsty combatant who, although unsophisticated, is brutally efficient in his spreading of blood. He has lost most of his intelligence and wit to the nails but has been able to get over his brutality and eternal chanting to Khorne when cleaning and polishing skulls from his victims to adorn his armour with. While Walrus lacks intelligence he is physically far more powerful and durable than most space marines. When calm Walrus is surprisingly cunning though can not articulate his views verbally so instead uses sign language.

Equipment[]

  • Cataphractii Terminator Armour
  • Double-headed Chainaxe
  • Power Broadsword
  • Power Fist
  • Autocannon - (Stolen from Imperial Guard)
