Problem: while it is possible to have an homebrewed chapter allegedly possessing chimeric gene-seed, chapters need mod team permission. Additionally, their heritage should be written in a more secretive and alleged way as well more often being part of the 21 foundings. Such articles also require an higher quality by rules

This article, Void Rippers, is currently under active construction. The author, Astartes Historics Recorder of History, apologizes for the inconvenience.

The Void Rippers are a brutal and hyper-aggressive Ultima Founding Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, born from the gene-seed of the Blood Angels and supposedly the World Eaters. A product of genetic fusion and psychic conditioning gone awry, their gene-seed's create dual flaw and gift, on one side the Black Rage, on the other a seemingly psychic connection between each other. These warriors are shock troops of legend, renowned for dropping into war zones like asteroids and ripping apart their enemies in close quarters before vanishing into the void.

While being partially of Sanguinius' lineage, the few interactions with others of the line have at best been unremarkable. Most find the Void Rippers to be unnerving, unable to explain exactly why. This has led to a poor relationship with the rest of Sanguinius' line. While initially, the chapter felt shame for their lack of brotherhood with the rest of the line, once bonds of blood were forged in the Tyrion Crusade, the same no longer mattered.

Though seemingly savage, the Void Rippers are not mindless. Their culture is rigidly structured to channel their rage, only releasing it in precise, apocalyptic moments. The result is a Chapter that is as feared by its allies as it is by its enemies.

Notable Campaigns[]

The Birth Campaign (999.M41 to 009.M42)[]

Waking from their cryo-pods deep within a bunker on the hive world of Arkos. The Void Rippers would find the world amidst an Ork invasion. Mobalizing from their bunker in full force to slay the xenos, and in the end, learn quite a few lessons. During the initial mobilization, Void Lord Arios “The 1st” Icoris would fall after his Land Raider was vaporized by a Plasma blast from an Ork Gargant.

The Birth Campaign would take the lives of the first six Void Lords. This led to the tradition within the chapter that each Void Lord would be referred to by their place in the line of Void Lords. The rank has been deemed a death sentence, following the Void Lords' past; each Void Lord leads from the front, maintaining the discipline and control of the chapter.

Fortress-Monastery[]

Kharon's Chain

The Anchor of Wrath. The Final Chain. The Warden of the Rage.

"We do not dwell within a fortress. We are entombed in a cage of will and war, held in place by our duty and our fury. Kharon's Chain is not a home, it is the last place a warrior stands before he dies."
— Arch Chain Lord Margrith Voxsteel

Kharon's Chain is the orbital bastion-fortress of the Void Rippers, a massive, heavily armed star fort suspended in the Larkos Wound system—a shattered binary system riven by warp storms and temporal disturbances. Carved from the derelict husk of a long-lost Ramilies-Class Star Fort, fused with scavenged Dark Age macro-structure plating, and sanctified in the blood of a hundred battle-brothers during its reconsecration, Kharon's Chain serves as the Void Rippers' sacred chapter-monastery, reliquary, prison, and proving ground.

Though technically a shared installation for the entire Chapter, each company maintains a wing or bastion within the fortress—fortified sanctuaries, armories, and ritual halls unique to their character and traditions. The Void Lord's Bastion, however, sits at the very heart of the fortress, anchored in the silent black cathedral known as The Pulse of Rage.

Named for Void Lord Kharon "The 7th" Orion, who fell during the reclamation of the fortress, during the chapter's second conflict, "Kharon's Strike." When the Void Rippers eradicated the Pallid Brotherhood.

Specialist Units & Formations[]

  • Erelim - Unlike the Blood Angels, the Void Rippers field far more than five Erelim. The Black Rage is very prevalent within the chapter, requiring far more Erelim. Each company has at least five Erelim acting as both honor guard to the Chain Lord and giver of the Emperor's mercy to their brothers. Equipped with Winged jumpacks and master crafted weapons to ensure a quick death to their fallen brothers.
  • Steel Hands - Elite brothers of the chapters honored for their disciplined rage, complete discipline in the face of the Black rage and Red Thirst during battle. Marked with a steel hand over a metallic black background on the right shoulder pad. Equipped with jump packs, an eviscerator, and wrist-mounted plasma pistols. Striking from the skies into the heavily defended and reinforced sections of the enemy lines.
  • Sanguinary Guard - Wearing entirely marble armor with gold trim. Veterans of the chapter, serving as the chapter honor guard, each Red Reaver and the Void Lord have a complement of Sanguinary Guard. Unlike the Blood Angels, the Void Ripper Sanguinary Guard do not wear death masks, instead wearing a featureless helm. Equipped with Relic weapons, wrist-mounted inferno pistols, and winged jumpacks.
  • Death Company - Comprised of those brothers who have fallen to the Black Rage, no longer the disciplined warriors of the chapter, they are corralled and unleashed on the enemies by the Chain Lords. The Unholy 11th company, after falling to the rage, fighting on with their colors stripped, cursed to relive Sanguinius' death.

Chapter Beliefs[]

View of the Emperor[]

The Emperor is the Breaker of Chains, the first to master the primal warlust that festers within all men. The Void Rippers see Him not as a father but as the ultimate commander, the Silent Warlord of the Void. They fight not out of love but in obedience to the last voice of sanity in a galaxy gone mad.

Traditions[]

  • Chains of Mastrey - Wearing chains upon their armor to forever remind themselves of their eternal duty to maintain control of their rage. Primarily gold, silver, and bronze in color.
  • The Void Games - An internal contest of martial prowess; victors are granted the title of Champion and tasked with killing enmity generals. Honored with access to the chapter's relics.

Chapter Gene-Seed[]

Deciding in part from the Blood Angels, the dual curses of the red thirst and Black Rage run strong in the chapter. As all successors of Sangunius must, the Void Rippers maintain a Death Company, a dark secret and great shame of the chapter. Although the chapter takes a different approach than most with their Death Company, choosing instead to recover their brothers after each battle and keep them in cryo-stasis till they are needed.

Sadly, to control the Red Thirst, the chapter has chosen to keep a farm of chapter serfs on the Kharon’s Chain. When the chapter's commanding ranks initially discussed how to manage the Red Thirst, a rift formed; some were in favor of keeping serfs for blood, while others despised the idea. Teetering on civil war, the matter was barely settled through Honor duels. Periodically, the chapter returns to the brink of civil war over the issue, usually after sustaining large casualties, with battle brothers claiming punishment from the Emperor for treating his people as cattle.

Deathwatch Service[]

Chapter Combat Doctrine[]

The Void Rippers' way of war boils down to two words: "Martial Discipline." Rank and structure are the guiding principles of the chapter. To disagree nonetheless, to argue with a battle-brother of greater rank is tantamount to heresy. Leaning towards Melee shock assaults, believing that without the temptation of the Thirst, there is no overcoming it. Leading with orbital bombardments before drop pod and airborne assaults. With heavy armor being uncommon, and while not frowned upon, choosing to use MkX Gravis Armor is viewed as an odd choice.

Chapter Armory[]

The Void Rippers' armory is quite light on heavy armor and armored vehicles. While having large stores of outriders, storm speeders, jumpacks, and even a few talons of sky-hunter jet bikes. While Gravis-Pattern and Phobos-pattern Mark X armor are not in short supply, they are very rarely used. The chapter does pose a large variety of chain weapons, with multiple patterns in sword, spear, and axe formats.

Relics[]

  • Psy-Engraved Chains – Used by Chain Lords and Voidhowlers; etched with warding sigils and pain-inducing glyphs.

  • Furnace Blade – A chain blade with a built-in plasma feed that ignites with each strike. Used only by a Champion of the Steel Hands. Glows with burning runes that intensify when near warp-tainted blood.
  • The Blood-Tide Banner – The Chapter Standard carried by the Chapter Ancient, soaked in the blood of ten thousand enemies and six fallen Void Lords. When raised, all brothers within sight gain temporary resistance to psychic interference and fear.
