The Void Hunters are a Codex-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes from the 3rd Founding following in the wake of the Great Scouring of an unknown genetic lineage. Despite their adherence to the Codex Astartes, they do not believe the text to be followed to the letter, rather using it as a guideline for their actions and tactics.
Chapter History
During the Great Scouring, a large amount of warp surges in the Daunt System caused giant beasts of great size to awaken and terrorize the populations of the system. In a hurried response, the Void Hunters were founded to dispatch these threats, as the PDF failed to execute them quickly. They were founded on the moon of Daunt Secundus, as it was the only moon to not have active threats at the time. Since then, the Void Hunters have exhibited a much more broad scope of tactics and doctrines, making them incredibly versatile, specifically against Xenos threats.
Chapter Homeworld
The Void Hunters reside of the moon of Daunt Secundus. It is a bustling, beautiful paradise world very similar to Terra of old but half in size. It has three major hive cities, with countless smaller. The Void Hunter's Fortress-Monastery, the Axe, resides in the third biggest hive city named Valhalla's Gate. The infrastructure of Daunt Secundus is based on the marble structures of old Terra. In their spare time in which they have very few, the Void Hunters spend time with the population of Daunt Secundus, serving as guardians and sanctuary. To the young, they tell stories to young, telling of great beasts and their ways of overcoming them. Due to this, they are seen in great regard by the people of Daunt Secundus.
Chapter Organization
The Void Hunters have very standard structure, except for how they regard dreadnoughts. Due to their former chapter master being a dreadnought himself, they view all of them as wise and experienced leaders, which has never proved incorrect. All Void Hunter dreadnoughts are honored of the highest degree, as only the most elite are entombed. Due to this, very few Void Hunter dreadnoughts exist, but are each unstoppable and venerable servants of the Emperor.

Chapter Recruitment
The Void Hunters follow a generally usual process of recruitment, but instead take them exclusively from Daunt Secundus. Due to this, their recruits are usually very calm and readied for the process. The likeliness of a recruit becoming a full space marine is unusually low in the Void Hunters, and even the Void Hunters themselves aren't sure as to why. It is suspected by the Void Hunters to be an unstudied gene-flaw, though nothing points to this.
Chapter Culture
The Void Hunters culture is greatly inspired of mythology stories of old. They take great pride in story telling both fictional and historical. They greatly value their connections to humanity and the people of Daunt Secundus, and the chapter has even been recorded to spend some of their leisure playing games and caring for the young of Daunt Secundus. This is very rare however, as they are usually travelling the galaxy in search of the next great foes to assault.
Titles
Each Void Hunters chapter master is given a title upon their promotion, of which the Void Hunters refer to them by. Most notably, the Leviathan, the Comet, and the Hammer. These titles usually represent a great accomplishment or characteristic about each chapter master. Orion Vall's title came from the tale of him slaying a gigantic aquatic beast in the ocean of Orpharion Secundus. Loki Dominus' title came from the notorious story of him using a space marine drop pod to pierce the hull of an enemy battle barge, with him inside. Holland Jarius' title came from his skills with power hammers, and his ability to forge them. This is tradition that has lasted in the Void Hunters since their creation, and to them is to be held sacredly.
Chapter Gene-Seed
Little is known of their Gene-Seed, even to the Apothecarion of the Void Hunters themselves. They once believe to be of Imperial Fists lineage, but they lack the obvious Gene-Flaws of their supposed Gene-Fathers. Lineage is a very important part of the Void Hunters chapter culture, and it has drawn some of their number mad trying to find where they come from. Their Chief Apothecary, Maximillian Koe, has recently taken it upon himself and his brothers to find the answer to their great problem, for he believes it to be his responsibility to find their roots and put an end to their hunt. Chief Apothecary Koe is the current and temporary commander of the Void Hunters 8th company, as the late captain of the 8th company, Terryn Howl, was slain by a warp beast of great proportions.
Combat Doctrine
The Void Hunters have been recorded to fight with extreme ferocity and will. Despite their usual deployments against larger threats, they have been observed to exhibit all manner of warfare against specifically Xenos threats. Most notably, they have had many campaigns against the T'au Empire which has proved melee prowess against them on multiple occasions.
Protocols
Before battles, they perform a type battle rite in which they chose one of 385 protocols written in the Void Hunter's Manifesto, and recited before every attending brother. It is a requirement that each brother, no matter the rank and role, must have every single protocol memorized. This is ordered due to the direness of the possibility that a protocol is changed while in combat. Protocols are only changed while in combat if their is a new, more potent threat, or the current protocol is failing to achieve victory. This is extremely uncommon, but the Void Hunters have had to use this before.
Deathwatch Service
The Void Hunters have exhibited an odd level of enthusiasm for their chapter's number being indoctrinated into the Deathwatch. This is primarily believed to be due to their chapter's doctrines being incredibly similar to that of the Deathwatch in concept. As of now, the Void Hunters have several intercessors currently serving in the Deathwatch, and have done so with great efficiency.
Notable Members
Chapter Masters
The Void Hunters honor their fallen leaders with great respect. To remember and honor their service is part of some of the chapter's very core doctrines. Names like Orion Vall, Loki Dominus, and Holland Jarius are permanently engraved in the chapter's history. These names are some of the former chapter masters who gave their lives in the line of duty, each with their own tales and histories. Each have shaped the Void Hunters into what they are currently, improving their doctrines and culture with each passing marine. Some met their end with the chapter's many engagements with the T'au, Orks, and other xenos races. Despite their passing, none of them will be forgotten while even a single Void Hunter draws breath.
Chapter Fleet
The Void Hunters have an abnormally small chapter fleet, the reason for this is unknown. It's small size does not show weakness, however. The most notable ship in the Void Hunter's fleet is a Cobra-class Destroyer titled "The Nightfall". It received this title for its notorious deployments in multiple crusades, always arriving to decimate worlds just as day becomes night. It is currently serving with the Chief Apothecary, along with the Void Hunters' 8th company on their campaign to discover the origin of their chapter's geneseed.
Chapter Relics
The Void Hunters do not have very many relics currently in their possession. Majority of them have been destroyed in a multitude of brutal campaigns, an example of this being Orion Vall's Centurion armor, the Mantle. A piece of the Mantle's breastplate still remains on display in one of the main halls of the Void Hunter's fortress-monastery on Daunt Secundus.
Chapter Appearance
Chapter Colours
Black and gold represent the Void Hunters' deepest values of honor and duty. The clashing colors represent the uncertainty of war, with the black representing the darkest hours, and the gold representing the Emperor's angels delivering his light to those who earn it.
Chapter Badge
The Void Hunter's chapter symbol strikes incredible similarity to that of the Dark Angels. This has caused some speculation that they may be part of the first legion's lineage. No other facts suggest to this idea.
Chapter Relations
Due to chapter's homeworld being very close to that of the 63rd Aerial Atomizers, it is not impossible to imagine why they have served alongside each other on multiple engagements. The chapter's tolerance of the Astra Militarum also hints at this, with some of the high ranking members of the chapter having mentioned their respect for the Imperial Guard before, with the 63rd being mentioned specifically.
Notable Quotes
By: Void Hunters
"Answer me this. Are you not satisfied, Xenos? Your cold, wretched hands stabbing the hearts of innocent worlds, and you think it to be salvation? They chose to be part of our cause because they believe it to be true. If they believed in your false idols and ideals, they would not have run from you as you burnt their cities to the ground. I ask you one last time, Commander, ARE YOU NOT SATISFIED?!"
—Lord Orion Vall, addressing T'au Commander Swifttide before their final duel on Daunt Primus during the 3rd Apostle Crusade
"Let it be heard, brothers! Let our calls be heard from the highest towers on Terra, to the lowest dungeons of the Warp! Let them know that we are here, and we are fighting until our very last breath. Every brother we've lost this day and many others will not be in vain! For this, is our finest hour Void Hunters! MAKE AMMENDS TO YOUR FALSE GODS, YOU ARE DUE TO MEET THEM!"
—Lord Holland Jarius' final speech to the Void Hunters chapter during a desperate battle against the Orks
