Varo Khral is a Firstborn Tactical Marine of the Angels Iratis Chapter serving the Long Vigil with the Deathwatch. Varo epitomizes all that his chapter is, he is unquestioning, unflinching, and unrelenting. He is, by comparison to most Firstborn, huge. Big even for his own chapter, he acts as a moving shield, taking the brunt of any attack, allowing his squad to engage in relative safety.

History[]

DW Varo Khral Angels Iratis

Official pict-file of Varo Khral of the Angels Iratis Chapter, a Tactical Marine assigned to the Long Vigil with the Deathwatch.

Raised upon Laetus, his Chapter’s homeworld, Varo was a son of a pair of soldiers, he was trained in marksmanship early on by his father, and martial arts by his mother. During routine inspections by the Angels Iratis, he was deemed worthy, and was taken by the Chapter. During his trials, he quickly proved himself, adapting to all of the Chapter’s test, the final test, one of will and obedience, he passed easily. Varo served his time with the Chapter’s devastators before being assigned to the 2nd Company, 4th Battleline Squad, where he proved his adoption of the Chapter’s culture time and time again. It is said he particularly excelled in actions that were once deemed Zone Mortalis.

Due to his chapter’s method of history keeping, there are little records of his actions, instead, only legends of total combats are known, and are of little help to piecing together Varo’s story.

Personality[]

Varo is a very contemptuous marine, like all of his Chapter, he believes most are worthless in comparison to the Emperor, holding only his mighty Angels slightly above, and acknowledges they serve a purpose. Varo has been noted to loathe bionics, and as such particularly hates any Chapter who intentionally replaces limbs with Bionics. However much he despises his kin however, should his superior ask something of him, he would never second guess it, and will generally seek to lead any combat, hoping to take the brunt of oncoming fire.

Appearance[]

When seen without his armor, Varro is noted to be covered from head to toe in scars, be it as small as knife scars, to as large as bolter wounds. He, however, has recovered from each. One notable exception is upon his head, where he suffered an Acidic attack, permanently stopping the healing and leaving open his thick, nigh bulletproof, skull, which was covered by strong, clear material, showcasing to all his durability. His face is gaunt, like all of his chapter, and is home to a pair of piercing brown eyes, sunken into his skull, and has no hair, believing it a nuisance.

Abilities and Traits[]

Varo is an expert with his Wrist-mounted Storm Bolter, using it to lay down fire while he advances with "Wrath's Teeth", of which he is an expert as well. His greatest skill however, is his unflinching attitude, even in the face of death, Varo will stand strong, fighting until he can fight no longer. While he is not proficient at strategic planning, he will execute those plans to the utmost detail, even to his own detriment. His preferred style of combat, as ordained by his chapter however, is not practical for the Deathwatch, and as such, is learning from his fellow brothers on new strategies to employ against the enemies of Mankind.
