Valerius Aquilo is one of the numerous members of Blades of Morality that eventually joined up with the Deathwatch, the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos inquisitorial faction.
However, unlike the majority of his brothers that rejoined their previous Chapter once their service was over, he instead chose to remain within the Deathwatch and earned the rank of Watch Captain at Watch-Fortress Glacialis.
History:
Youth:
As most of the records were expunged and sealed away, it was presumed that he was born on the Chapter's recruitment World of Antares Novem in the year of 170.M41 to Callus and Diana Aquilo who were members of the Antarian Defense Forces. His father was known for being a well-respected leader and was known for his cold and calculating nature and was a man whose decision was tempered by years of brutal warfare. His mother on the other hand was known for being a fierce warrior and was skilled in strategy and close quarters combat.
He was immersed in the training and philosophies of his parents and he was taught that survival wasn't about strength, but it was about fortitude that included mental, emotional and physical. This meant that his loyalty to duty and survival were born from the values that were instilled in him from his parents.
Astartes Recruitment:
In the year of M41.181, when he was 10 years old he was one of the numerous aspirants that were chosen to be inducted into the Chapter. After he passed the first trial where he had to march over 300 kilometers through the cold and fighting off the numerous predatory creatures of the planet and this portion was designed to break the spirit of the unworthy.
He was one of the numerous aspirants that were able to pass through the second trial that included him fighting against numerous candidates and that this was designed to strip away the pride and ego of the recruits by forcing them to fight without the utilization of ranged weapons or armor and it was a brutal gladiatorial contest where the strongest survived.
After defeating the numerous candidates that were sent after him, he later fought against a Veteran Astartes and this was a test of his determination, pain tolerance, mental focus and their tactical thinking.
During this sparring match, he was struck in the face by this Veteran marine and despite his vision being obscured by the blow that ruptured his left eye he still continued despite the excruciating pain. Using his sheer determination, he pressed on and used the instincts and the will to survive that were drilled into him by his parents.
Chapter Induction:
After passing through the numerous trials, he was later given the Primaris Version of the Gene-Seed and this included the Magnificat, the organ that was responsible for making Primaris Marines taller then their Firstborn Counterparts. However, during the implantation of the gene-seed, he experienced an unexpected side effect. This meant that his heightened senses and his strength were overwhelming for him at first.
This meant that these genetic alterations created some form of a genetic instability and left him with some form of heightened aggression.
Despite these complications, his resolve remained strong and his integration was marked by intense personal struggle and an unwavering commitment to survive and excel.
Deathwatch Induction:
After he served 93 years within the Chapter, he stood as a Veteran Intercessor and prove himself time and time again in countless campaigns across the Segmentum Obscurus as he purged numerous Ork Warbands and hunted down numerous Tyranid strains and has been known for his cold resolve and unwavering duty.
His discipline, precision and grim devotion made him a prime candidate when the Ordo Xenos petitioned the Chapter for experienced warriors to serve in the Vigil. When he was 119 years old he was later selected and seconded into the Deathwatch.
From the years of 999.M41 to 020.M42 during the Indomitus Crusade, he was assigned to Watch Fortress Noctis Umbra and he served for 98 years and completed numerous xenos-purging missions and built a fearsome reputation within numerous Kill-Teams.
