Background

The Descendants of Saikos was formed in early M41, less than half a decade after the birth of Saikos. A group of several hundred Astartes and many thousands of cultists requested independence from the Fluxborne Vainguard. Phoebe Ionos denied this, instead allowing them to have only partial autonomy. She placed Alexandria Crow in charge of the organisation, as she knew that Crow would remain loyal to her.

Without warning in 009.M41, The Bringer of Dread, a Despoiler class battleship housing the entirety of the Warband would disappear during Warp Transit. Phoebe was gutted and went into a decade-long period of mourning. In 314.M41, the same ship returned to the Lomek System, although all of the crew were either dead or worshippers of Khorne, with Crow even becoming a Daemon Prince of Khorne. However, the group was overall larger than before they had vanished, suggesting the group had assimilated various Khornate Chaos Cults as well.

Phoebe would declare each member of the group a traitor and wage war against them.

The Conflict

The Vadrian Assault

Vadrian was made the Headquarters of The Descendants of Saikos. Phoebe promptly began an orbital bombardment of the strategic areas of the planet, such as cities, towns and other places. This led to the majority of civilian casualties of the war.

Afterwards, several thousand cultists made planetfall with 100 Astartes in order to eliminate The Cultist forces of The Descendants of Saikos only to discover that the Descendants had incurred a Khornate Daemonic Invasion. In retaliation, the Hellcasters Group summoned multiple thousands of Slaaneshi Daemons and Phoebe Ionos even summoned Saikos Prime Valt Sektorum Dra, a shard of Saikos which functioned like a strategic mastermind from orbit as well as capable of firing bubbles of pure warp energy that when popped or burst, would send the matter inside the bubble back into the warp.

Eventually, only one bastion of Khornate Resistance remained on the planet, a hive city After a 4-month-long siege of the city that was still ongoing in 315.M41, Phoebe herself would join the conflict in person, causing Alexandria to join as well.

The Apotheosis of Phoebe Ionos

On the edge between the barren wasteland and the city, an hour-long conversation between the two great women would occur. However, Phoebe would engage in combat with Alexandria. Ionos herself claims it was because Alexandria, a Daemon Prince of Khorne, expressed glee at Phoebe’s brother’s death at the hands of a Khornate Daemon millennia ago.

The two fought for hours, one casting malefic spells and the other using her weapons to attempt and kill Ionos. Eventually, Saikos Prime Valt Sektorum Dra would send the majority of surviving Khornate Daemons back into the warp, as well as close the warp rift that was sustaining Crow. In one sudden move, Phoebe grabbed the Daemon sabre and thrust it into her chest, impaling Alexandria Crow.

Crow was not weakened by this, however, instead using the opportunity to land a powerful attack on Phoebe, greatly injuring her. Phoebe would use all of her psychic might and prowess to summon a beacon of light which descended from the heavens, piercing the mind, body and soul of the daemon, obliterating her once and for all, never to even reform in the Warp.

Upon seeing this success, the Fluxborne Vainguard and the cultists loyal to Ionos would charge forth and slaughter the majority of the Khornate forces. However, their massacre was cut short when Phoebe Ionos glowed with the brightness and intensity of a supernova. Phoebe Ionos would then appear atop the spire of the hive city they were attempting to conquer, a spire many kilometres tall.

Phoebe Ionos had ascended to Daemonhood, for by overcoming her own personal fears and difficulties, she was able to win the conflict, as her reward was becoming a Daemon Prince of Saikos.

This distraction was enough to allow several dozen Astartes and thousands of cultists to escape to multiple nearby worlds, setting up minor chaos cults that were purged until the last one was destroyed in 320.M41.]
