The Tempest Fangs are an Ultima Founding Space Marine Chapter, formed in the year 999.M41. This chapter once was a Space Wolves Great Company, which was declared annihilated in the year 840.M41 and thus removed from the Grand Annulus. After returning - almost broken - to Fenris about 150 years later, these wolf-brothers were split up and reintroduced into different great companies. On their campaign on the thought to be lost forge world Ventus Prime, with all forms of communication cut, the former great company suffered heavy losses, forcing them to retreat without accomplishing their goal of cleansing the planet of recurring Aeldari incursions. Out of pure shame, the Wolf Lord Eihwaz Stormsong layed down his title and served as a tactical advisor in the Great Company of Harald Deathwolf.
Amid the events of the Ultima Founding, the Great Wolf Logan Grimnar himself decided that it was now Stormsong's turn to redeem himself. The remaining brothers of the former great company were gathered and reinforced by numerous warriors of the Unnumbered Sons. Now almost at the strength of a full Codex Astartes-compliant chapter, the strike force headed towards Ventus Prime to finally rid the solar system of this xenos threat. At the end of the finally successful campaign, the strike force was given the opportunity to be recognised as an independently acting chapter.
By his brothers, the former Wolf Lord Stormsong was now chosen to be the chapter master of the newly born Tempest Fangs. Stormsong carries their most valuable chapter relic: Snarlmaw. This weapon was given to Stormsong when he inherited the title of Wolf Lord. The name derives from the flaw of the axe - if the power field is turned on, not only the blade is sheathed with energy, but also the surrounding air is overloaded, emitting lightning bolts and the sound of crackling thunder around the weapon. It struck fear into the hearts of its enemies, but using it was considered highly suicidal when wielded by anybody but the most highly capable warriors of Fenris.
Following the extermination of the Aeldari, a fortress-monastery - given the name 'The Eye' - was built on the uninhabited dwarf planet Ventus Secundus, now watching over the solar system and their inhabitants. After stabilising the well-being and economy of the forge world and its native population, the Tempest Fangs now recruit from Ventus Prime and make use of the Wolf Kings gene-seed to reinforce their ranks. Tightly holding onto the teachings of Russ, with precise, heavy firepower, cunning tactics and close-combat focused fury alike, the shock n awe tactics of the Tempest Fangs now roll over the imperiums enemies like a storm front over a grey, lightning imbued, sky.
