Sky Wolves are an Ultima Founding Successor Chapter of the fierce Space Wolves. The Sky Wolves hail from the planet Nordngarde, an icy Feudal Death World in close proximity to the Eye of Terror. The Chapter is led by High King Ysmir Stormblade, who is also the Jarl of his own Great Company, known as the Stormblades.
Chapter History
Founding
When Belisarius Cawl created the Primaris Space Marines, it finally allowed the Space Wolves to produce its own successor Chapters, something that had not occurred since the ill-fated Wolf Brothers of the 2nd Founding. The Sky Wolves were among the many new Chapters created from the gene-seed of Leman Russ during the Ultima Founding.
The Feudal World of Nordngarde in the Wodin Sector was chosen as the homeworld of the newly formed Sky Wolves Chapter given its strategic position relative to the Eye of Terror. The Sky Warriors constructed their fortress-monastery, known as the 'Hold', in an isolated region of the planet.
Early Campaigns
One of the earliest known campaigns that involved the Sky Wolves was the so-called War of Tears. The conflict was fought against several Aeldari factions, including the Drukhari Kabal of the Blinded Tear and the Asuryani Craftworld Ald-Merethis. In the end, the Sky Wolves emerged victorious and developed a deep personal hatred towards the Eldar.
Another early campaign saw the Sky Warriors go into battle against the Heralds of the Hermetic Grimoire, a warband of the Space Wolves' long-time enemies, the Thousand Sons Traitor Legion.

Nordngarde is a very dangerous and unforgiving planet; from it's incredibly hostile environment to the large ferocious beasts that inhabit it.
The planet Nordngarde is a snowy planet with a surface consisting mostly of towering mountain ranges, large rock formations, exposed crystals, deep gorges, and expansive frozen wastelands. The planet's climate is extremely cold, with temperatures ranging from -30 °C during the summer and -50 °C in the winter. The planet is around is 78% water, much of which is completely frozen over.

The Moot is a ritual of the Sky Wolves Chapter that occurs after the death of the High King. Whenever the High King dies, the nine Jarls of the Great Companies (including the new leader of the High King's Great Company) gather together at the Hold to elect a new High King from amongst their number. There has only been one Moot in the history of the Chapter, back in its very early days when High King Ysmir Stormblade invoked the Moot to affirm is position as Master of the Chapter.
