—Chapter Master Rain, battle chant before battle
The Rain Raiders are a newly made Adeptus Astartes Loyalist chapter from the Ultima Founding, brought forward by the mighty White Scars. The Rain Raiders were once a fleet based chapter and roamed the sector fighting and protecting those who needed the help, but most battles were very small time and only needed a single squad to be fixed. It wasn't until the Liberation of Bastion V when the true versions of the Rain Raiders came to be and their current method of combat were finally formed, a style of combat that were still in the early stages formed by their current Chapter Master Rain.
The command cadre of the Rain Raiders are made up of ex-Veterans of the White Scars, who would go on to lead the newly formed Chapter. The current Chapter Master, Rain, was a former Veteran Sergeant made Force Commander in many campaigns. Along with his ten Captains that were once Vanguard Veterans under his command, now made to lead each company of this newly made chapter, Rain leads his chapter to victory after victory. Rain and his ten Captains were active during the 26th Founding where they made most of their name during that time. After cross into the Rubicon Primaris Space Marines they were given a chance to lead an Ultima Founding Chapter now known as The Rain Raiders.
The Rain Raiders fight in a highly devastating form of Shock assault by using fast moving mounted vehicle combat, the chapter uses a custom made outrider bike known as the Bolt-Bike. The Bolt-Bike is a special bike that has two Space Marines on it, one that drives the bike and the other is another space marine equipped with a jump pack. As the Bolt-Bike enters closer to the fight, it then drops down to launch the assault space marine into the air and then back down onto the enemies to fight in close combat. All Space Marines in this chapter are taught with melee weapons as its main form of combat; this chapter also has a long standing tradition. This tradition which was started during the Liberation of Bastion V, in order for a Scout Marine to continue onto to become a Space Marine they must defeat an enemy of equal ranking in single combay and take their skull. Every Space Marine has their last kill's skull to their waist to mark not only their rank but the memory of their "first kill". In order to rank up they must kill something of equal rank they are wanting to rank up to in single combat.
The Chapter may have been created during the Ultima Founding, but the leaders of the Rain Raiders were not part of the Ultima Founding. The current Chapter Master, Rain was a Veteran Sergeant of the White Scars' 1st Company somewhere during the 26th Founding, and along with his squad of Vanguard Veterans. Rain was chosen to become a Force Commander in many campaigns as he led a task force of White Scars into battle as they took many difficult and dangerous missions to make sure certain objectives were met. Along with his ten Veteran members acting as his officers of his task force, they were successful in many of these missions.
The White Scars command usually appointed Rain as Force Commander in many missions due to his ferocity and strength in leading his half-sized company task force into battle. So much so they were given a nickname whenever he was appointed to a Force Commander to help lead missions, The Khan's Arrow. Despite their missions being very dangerous with a high mortality rate, Rain was able to fulfill each mission despite some losses, but it was through his actions and leadership that made them come on top and successful. Rain had made a strong reputation of himself and his officers within the White Scars and his reputation as a Force Commander.
It wasn't until the Ultima founding when the introduction of the Primaris Space Marine that they were given a choice by the White Scars. They could stay as Firstborn Space Marines and continue to be Veterans in the White Scars, or they were given the chance to become Primaris Space Marines and given their own Chapter to leader. To lead a new breed of Primaris Space Marines and become a Successor Chapter of the White Scars. Along with his ten Officers they all agreed to go through with the surgery so that they can lead the new Rain Raiders Chapter.
Notable Campaigns
Quelling a Rebellion on Corvan Beta(001.M42) - One of the first battles The Rain Raiders fought after the creation of their chapter. On the planet of Corvan Beta hailed a call of distress to help quell a rebellion on their planet. Chapter Master Rain sent a squad led by Sergeant Fox of 2nd Company down to the planet to help the Imperials on the planet. Knowing that one squad was enough for this type of skirmish. Once landing on Corvan Beta Sergeant Fox had met with Captain Charles of the Corvan Beta Vanguard, 1000 strong on their end. Their capital was being attacked by a Rebellion within their own capital and were losing ground quickly, by the graffiti on their walls the rebellion were backed by heretics. Sergeant Fox and his squad quickly went in to help the vanguard in securing various check points, supply lines and major areas to help them regain control of certain sectors. With the presence of the Space Marines the Vanguard quickly regained their morale and pushed forward with strong grit. The battle was coming to a close until the squad stared down five Chaos Space Marines, this was the first time this chapter had fought against heretics but it was in their blood and training. The fight was tough and initially the heretics were winning, before one heretic was taken down three of theirs were killed in the process. Then Sergeant Fox was killed by another, morale in the squad was starting to get low as this enemy was new for them. But One Space Marine, who was Fox's 2nd in Command known as Josh, stood forward taking the chainsword once belonging to Fox and cut down two Heretics on his own. With this the rest of the squad were given a stronger drive in defeating the remaining heretics, they all banned together to take out the rest of the two Chaos space marines. Ordering the rest of the vanguard to help dispose the rest of the rebellion. After the battle was completed and the Corvan Beta Vanguard retook their capital and completely eradicated the rebels leaving no prisoners, the Rain Raiders were thanked. But as per tradition the squad took their fallen and left to return to the chapter, though with sad hearts of their fallen. Chapter Master Rain was pleased with the results nonetheless, in the process promoted Josh to the rank of Sergeant to continue to lead the squad in Fox's stead knowing they were in good hands.
Chapter Master Rain accompanied by two Veteran Sergeants, Sunu and Chanu of the Rain Raiders. Working together to clear out the rest of the Orks on a failed Waaaagh on Bastion V after the defeat and beheading of Warboss Glutzark Grimsnag.
The Rain Raiders were once a Fleet based Chapter, moving from planet to planet helping those in need for help. Typically, these missions were very minor to where only a single squad could handle and take care of, nothing an entire chapter had to deal with. It wasn't until they had received an Imperial emergency from a Cadian Regiment on a nearby planet that changed everything. An Ork Waaagh was attacking a planet near them named Bastion V, and the Cadian Regiment in charge of protection called out for aid to any nearby Imperial unit, The Rain Raiders answered the call which led to their first notable Chapter wide campaign.
The Rain Raiders are currently situated in the Feral World of Bastion V, a Feral post apocalyptic, arid wasteland, and ruined cities Imperial world. A once vibrant Imperial world with many cities within the planet but broken down due to a societal collapse of unknown reasons. Now down to its last city within Bastion V is where the Chapter, their serfs and it's PDF reside, this city is where the Chapter has currently used as their home base.
Bastion V's main inhabitants are multiple and various Biker Gangs that roam the planet freely, most were once Imperial citizens that over time had delved into gang violence and gang territory. Each Biker gang or clans is how they refer to themselves can be numbers in the 50-100s members for each clan. The current number of clans/gangs on this planet is uncounted for; The 720th Cadian Regiment who were called to Bastion V (before the Chapter came) to protect the last city and quell the Gangs has loosely round up to 600 gangs so far, but that number was still unknown.
Currently Bastion V's PDf is made up of at least 600 clans under own banner (Chapter) that help protect the planet and hunt down the remaining Orks that came to attack the planet. The Rain Raider's Serfs act as the PDF's Officers and fill leadership positions within the last city, now named Saejong DaeWang. The Serfs of the chapter help organize and train the various PDFs on Bastion V to help protect the planet and even help man the planetary defenses.
Now that Bastion V has been liberated and taken control by the Rain Raiders, the Chapter along with the many Clans and Serfs slowly retake the various Imperial cities that were once inhabited by the Imperial citizens. Each city acting as an outpost for the chapter, along with retaking the cities also come to recruiting the various other clans that are not a part of the current PDF. Either they can agree to join the PDF's banner, or they will be executed.
Despite Bastion V being taken over by the chapter and made a home planet, there are still threats that still linger on the planet. Despite their numbers they have only taken back just a quarter of the various cities on this planet. It's not just a simple walk in and claim the city again as there are many other Biker Clans that haven't joined the PDF and there still are many orks still lingering and spawning all over the planet. Even the Orks that initially attacked the planet and weren't able to escape started to make their home in the various cities on the planet, but every week they take more and more cities, wiping out the remnants of the Orks on the planet and either recruiting for clans for the PDF or taking them out entirely if they disagree.
Typically, a skirmish to take the city will consist of two squads of Space Marines, a Squad of Bike and Jumper Marine combo along with a rhino with a devastator squad in it. Followed by a squad of Serfs that number 10 and one or two Clans within the PDF. With these numbers it is quite enough to take a city usually, as most of the time those that reside in the cities are just biker gangs which the Ran Raiders could easily take out. While Orks it takes some more continuous combat; then once they establish a good footing on the city. They set up an outpost and invite more PDF to the city to help maintain it. Whichever team that was sent out to retake the city will stay there for the remainder to make sure the city is truly safe as small raids happen quite often even after taking the city.
Fortress-Monastery
Newly named as "Sejong Dewang", this Imperial city was the last standing Imperial city left on this Feral world, the chapter considers the entire city to be their Fortress Monastery. Originally the world had multiple Imperial cities all throughout the planet, but slowly one by one they started to die out. As this one was the last standing one, after the campaign against the Orks the Rain Raiders claimed the planet as their own and made this last standing city as their home planet. Refitting it with more planetary defenses and more areas for the Space Marines to be in, train and practice in, not only that the city is also used to house all the various Serfs or Dongsaengs in this chapter. Many of the Chapter's serfs that are the officers of the PDF reside in the city and made new homes for themselves there. Although it took some time to set up, but the city is probably the safest city in the entire planet as its guarded by the PDF, Serfs and chapter. The city has many different wide and long roads that serve as practice areas for the chapter and pdf to use, and to go from one city to the other.
Just by how the city was shaped it felt like the city was to be the last line of defense for the entire planet, the other cities just look like what it should be a plain city. But this last city of the planet not only happened to be the biggest but also the most defensible city. Equipped with many starports, planetary weapons and areas to house a military occupation. This Imperial city was outfitted to become more of a fortress then an actual town, but it was never used to become one so many of the things there that made it into a fortress were never utilized until the Rain Raiders came into the picture. Tt was the perfect place for the Rain Raiders to settle here and use it as their Fortress-Monastery, many of the old occupants of the city stayed behind to live in their city and realized that it had become even more safer. Majority of the original inhabitants of the city joined to be a part of the PDF and get the necessary training to help defend their planet and themselves. The original Planetary Governor stayed at a space station overlooking the entire planet, but that was destroyed when the Orks invaded the planet, so they were more than happy to accept their new planetary governor. The Chapter Master is the current planetary governor of the planet, but when he is not on the planet the duties would go to his second in command of the city which is his personal Serf, Storm. Storm is the highest ranking Serf of the chapter as his personal Serf, and he also leads the PDF and the other Officer Serfs when Rain is not present.
Chapter Recruitment
Not only is Bastion V the home planet of the Rain Raiders but it also serves as their recruitment planet, and what better way to have your recruits already be experienced riders and vehicle specialists. On Bastion V among the PDF are long time Biker gangs that have been riding as such for many years or even longer, each gang can specialize in something, or all share the same thing such as riding a bike. But a brand new tradition was started by the various clans of the planet, they call it the Death Squid Race. It's a massive obstacle course that starts at the fortress monastery and crosses through five different cities and the finish line is circling back at the fortress monastery. Each Death Squid Race is done once a year, a race that can last up to a week or two weeks; this was a race that the chapter or the serfs started, this was purely started by the PDFs there thinking that the winner could get a chance to become a Space Marine. Although at first the chapter didn't exactly know how to go about this sort of thing, but eventually decided to let it be and use this death race to happen as the mortality rate was quite high to begin with. The first death race that ever happened, about of 50 participates only two ended up surviving and they are now currently Neophytes within the chapter, the Rain Raiders accepted this trial and allowed the PDF to get a fair chance to become one of them. Every year it happens there has been more and more participants they go, but every year the death Squid Race seems to get more and more dangerous
The race begins by each PDF clan sending in one or three of their best riders to the death race, riders that they have trained among their clans to represent them and to eventually join the chapter. The race goes through five different cities, some were preset up for the death race but only on the two of the five cities that are under the chapter's control. As they can give a slightly easier time going through it as it could lead to no death and just injury, once one falls off their bike they are disqualified from the race and will have to try again. Typically, the first two cities are considered the easy mode as death is fairly low and doesn't happen as often, after all the pdf doesn't want to kill their own. But continuing into the next cities then things start to get rather difficult.
The first city is deserted and not explored just yet, there's been talk of the city being haunted and having multiple dangerous wildlife that road the city by day and by night. There's not a single soul in the city and haven't been touched either, survivors would point out that when they're riding through, at first it seems to have an open road, but one by one riders would get picked off randomly by something. Survivors that go through it call the city, The Den thinking that there are some types of creature living there. Bastion V has a legend that this particularly city died first mainly due to this entity, but they do enjoy using it as a city course. The Rain Raiders themselves could easily take it out, but it does help with the race so for the time being they will let it be and watch from afar. The second city from there is a city ruled by a rival inhabitant, those that oppose the Rain Raiders and the PDF there, another city that is quite dangerous with many Rider Clans that road the city in a lawless town.
The last town is the hardest of the other two as it's a city that's owned by the Orks, and by Orks these Orks don't really have a strong leadership in this city. These Orks are a mix of Feral and Ork Remnant from the Waaagh, due to the Orks not have a solidified Leader and the Orks there seem to fighting fighting amongst each other or against the Feral Orks that claimed the city as their own as well. This city is the most dangerous city to go into alone, but its the best test for those PDF riders that want to become a part of the chapter a rite by fire so dangerous its perfect. But the mortality rate for this final city is at a staggering 95%, the Orks sometimes stop fighting among each other to gang up on a PDF riding through. The chapter do have a close eye on these Orks in this particular city though, making sure they can't leave and if anything, too big is growing they make sure to silence it. Through those who survive and return to the steps of Sejong Daewong, are greeted in a standing ovation parade as even some of the Riders of the Chapter will congratulate them and will begin their journey into the Chapter.

Specialist Units & Formations
Bolt-Bike Squad: A specialized squad of 10 space marines and 5 Bolt Bikes, they are a specially made Outrider Bike thats been outfitted for two people. One Space Marine will ride the Bike while fighting with built in Bolters or grenade launchers and the 2nd passenger is a Space Marine with a jetpack. Once a team gets in close the bike will dip down and launch the assault space marine up and then down to fight the enemies in close quarters combat, while the other ride will circle around hitting the blind spots for the Assault space marine. A Bolt Bike squad will consist of:
1 Sergeant Rider (choice of Rider or Jumper)
4-5 Brother Riders
4-5 Assault Space Marines
Rhino/Razorback Squad: A special squad of Devastators that ride in a custom made Rhino with a roof that can open up and allow the Space Marines in the Rhino to shoot from it. Providing fast moving support to their brothers on the ground and make quick but devastating hit and run tactics. A Rhino squad will hold a full 10 Devastator squad with 4 or 5 with heavy weapons and 5 others providing other support, a squad may relocate and reposition faster in this way to provide additional support. A Razorback squad will only have up to 6 space marines, 1 Sergeant, one Techmarine and 4 heavy weapons to provide a more focused heavy weapon support.
Hwarang:The Chapter and Company champions are known as Hwarangs. The Chut Hwarang or First Hwarang is the Chapter's Champion and is known as the best melee fighter in the entire chapter only seconded by the Chapter Master. but under him are four other Hwarangs that are the next line up to be among the best melee fighters of the chapter. Each one acting as the Company's champion. A highly honored rank but also not really seen as an officer's rank. They typically don't hold any actual rank in the chapter or company instead they hold a very honored title among their ranks.
RR5: RR5 or better known as the Rain Raiders 5th Company. They're a highly specialized company made up of Vanguard Infiltrator Space Marines that are tasked to go behind enemy lines and disrupt/do as much damage to soften up targets to move into. Especially if the enemy is in a very hard to reach area or fortress. This squad are a bit of an abnormal formation of Space Marines, especially since they fight differently compared to the main combat force. the RRSWC is considered to be a more covert and special forces of the Rain Raiders. Depending on the type of mission, the company will adjust accordingly. There is a tradition among the company where they will send 1 squad of Reivers down for a mission, if needed they will call upon the rest of the company. But 9/10 times a single squad is enough to take care of the matter. A squad is typically consist of:
1 Reiver Sergeant
4-7 Reivers
1 Eliminator
1 Helix Adept
Dread-Tank Dread-tanks is a new type of dreadnought made by the Rain Raiders, those of the few Space Marines that lived and still want to thrill of going fast and can't drive a bike again are put onto tank treads. Although not as fast as a bike they are much more mobile and faster then a standard Dreadnought is. Many Dread-tanks are usually outfitted with two claws to tear apart vehicles on the road though some will have an auto cannon or plasma cannon with them to do hit and runs as they did in their past lives. Dread-Tanks can still be outfitted with regular legs if the mission calls for it, but many want the tank treads.
Life of a Serf in Chapter
One example of a "Dongsaeng's" Officer look
Serfs in the chapter are treated quite well within the Rain Raiders, within the chapter the Serfs are known as "Dongsaengs" or Little Brother. Although their ranking would never be above a Hoobae or Neophyte, they are still treated respectfully and like a person. Serfs of the chapter are given good living spaces, food, an education and even combat training as well, never to be treated as a slave. As they help man every ship, maintenance and everything else a serf does, they are always thanked and at times are allowed to join for certain ceremonies.
Combat specific Serfs or seniors among the Serfs are given very important roles within the PDF of the home planet. Given actual high ranking or officer rankings they help lead, maintain and train the PDFs on the planet. These Serfs are typically given more roles, responsibilities and authority over the PDF of Bastion V, but despite the more responsibilities due to how they're treated they perform exceptionally well showing strong leadership skills and adaptability.
Each Space Marine of the Rain Raiders will normally have 1 or 2 personal Serfs under them, while officers will tend to have three under them. But for the Company Captains and Chapter Master they will have anywhere from 5-10 serfs under them. Each Serf will always hold the highest rank among the other Serfs in the chapter and the PDF of the home planet. For example Chapter Master Rain's first Serf is the Planetary Governor of Bastion V if Rain is away, and all other Serfs are head leads of different sects within the Chapter. Each Company Captain's serfs will always hold high positions within their own company for the other Serfs. They all follow a separate rank system for each serfs.
Among the Serfs of the chapter, those who are chosen to be a personal serf for a space marine is considered and treated as royalty among the other Serfs. To be chosen by a space marine to be their personal serf will always give them a higher role and position among the other serfs in the chapter. Those who are chosen are given extensive care, training and even combat training. Although every serf in the chapter is taught the basics and given enough training to be equivalent to an average Imperial Guardsman. These personal serfs have been described to be on par with the Tempestus Scions in how strict their training is but also only looking for the best to be a personal serf. As they are given very specific roles and leadership among the other serfs their training has to be of one to become equivalent to a Shock Trooper; although they rarely do see combat they are given such training to be able to give support to their space marine.
Order of Battle
1st Company: Veterans of the chapter, most experienced in all fields of combat and all tactics used in the chapter. First Company will send part of their Veteran Space Marines to various companies to help bolster and teach the newer space marines in various campaigns. Currently The Rain Raiders have 5 Terminators including the Company Captain, making up one squad. Each member of Akaan's Terminator squad are individuals who are the best of the best Veterans from the chapter.
2nd Company: 2nd Company is regarded as the combined arms, they will use mix of both styles of combat and utilize it in their campaigns. 2nd Company will will Space Marines from both 6th and 7th company to help bolter their company and give the new reserve Space Marines much needed battle experience so they may enter the battle companies with more experience.
3rd Company: 3rd Company specializes in defensive combat that will employ more then usual heavy vehicles and devastator squads, their main duty is to protect the home-world of The Rain Raiders on Bastion V. But there will be times when their defensive expertise are called to action to help defend an Imperial world or a certain choke point so that an important position does not fall. Taking 20-30 Space Marines from 9th company they will teach and help gain much needed experience for those who have just started their journey to becoming a Space Marine.
4th Company: 4th Company are a melee focused and melee offensive company, 4th company will almost always engage in melee combat with the enemy as most of their campaigns and battles will be in melee. Although they do have ranged support then it comes to it, but they are there to help cover the Space Marine locked in combat's blind sides. 4th Company will normally take 20-30 Space Marines from 8th company to not only give them more experience but to help bolster their numbers so they don't have to take the entirety of their company. 4th Company actively make use of drop pods to quickly get into battle and provide quick support in melee combat.
5th Company: The 5th Company of The Rain Raiders is a specialized Stealth Battle Company, a company made up of purely Vanguard and Reivers. Most if not all of their missions are based upon stealth. Theres a long standing tradition among 5th company of sending one Reiver squad to fulfill missions or call in for a full company wide assault. 9/10 times a single squad is more then enough to take care of the mission.
6th Company: Space Marines of this Reserve Battleline company is among the first of the Space Marine that is made up of Battleline squads that can reinforce the chapter in any role possible or whichever area is in the most need. Being able to master whatever role they help reinforce.
7th Company: Space Marines of this Reserve Battleline company will learn every other vehicles used in the chapter mainly using the Bolt Bikes, all bolt Bike Riders will hone their skill and talents on Bolt Bikes mainly in this company and every other vehicle. As per the codex 7th Company is also a company made up of Battleline Squads and is ready to reinforce any role that is needed for the chapter.
8th Company: Space Marines in this Reserve Company learn in using all manners of melee weapons and using jetpacks. Space Marines in 8th company will learn the basics of Bolt Bikes and efficiently be launched off of a Bolt Bike and utilize that tactic of fighting.
9th Company: All space marines under this reserve company learns how to use any and all heavy weapons and heavy weapons support tactics, as well as driving Rhinos and learning Rhino squad combat. Space Marine will learn to be in varied Rhino support squads and learning to fight while in a rhino.
10th Company: All Recruits and Neophytes start here in this company as they develop to becoming a Scout Marine, the first step before becoming a Space Marine. Early stages of learning how to ride Bikes will come into play here, though most recruits are already proficient in riding bikes. Instead Scout Marines will learn all sorts of weaponry befitting a Space Marine and the basics, 10th company Scout Marines gets taken by the other Battle companies in all types of missions to learn and gain experience in battle. Scout Marines that either excel or have an aptitude for stealth will be sent directly to Company 5 to be properly trained to become a Vanguard Space Marine.
All Reserve Companies are used on the home planet of Bastion V claiming various cities and training on the planet.
The Rain Raiders chapter has a very strict tradition for all Neophyte when becoming a Battle Brother rank, the coming of age rank. All Battle Brothers of this chapter takes the skull of those they have killed in single combat when they were a Scout, and most of the time its through melee combat as this chapter's biggest specialty is close combat. This belief started after their first big campaign when liberating their home planet. When there was an Ork Waaagh, Rain killed the Warboss of the Waaagh and held the severed head of the warboss in triumph as they won the campaign against them, making all other Orks either run away deeper into the planet becoming lose or going back to their ships to escape. Upon this time every Space Marine of this chapter raised the Ork they had killed in combat by severing its head and copying exactly what Rain did. From that point on Rain created the tradition of taking a skull of the enemy in single combat to remind them of their first official kill of same rank, Rain keeps the skull of the warboss on his belt to remind himself of his first victory as Chapter Master.
The Rain Raiders have developed their own language of sorts that only Rain Raiders and the Serfs under them know how to speak and understand, this language was developed by the Chapter Master and his 5 Captains. They were developed back from their days in the White Scars, when Rain was chosen to be a Force Commander in many campaigns. He wanted to speak a language that was only shared with his command to help keep more secretive plans and missions so others wouldn't be able to know what was going on, especially if there were spies among them. Through this, he has developed and also taught every single Space Marine in his chapter. Along with his Captains helping out as well. now everyone in the chapter including the serfs are fluent in it and speak it normally when the time comes, many of the ranks are used in their language as well.
The Rain Raiders will also trade weapons as a tradition whenever they fight alongside another Space Marine chapter. To commemorate the battle they had fought together. Its mostly a sentimental reason to remember those they fought with and to honor them. The weapon in question is typically just a normal base lined weapon, in the Rain Raiders case they tend to trade one of their Chainaxes with another melee weapon from their respected chapters. Just like their parent chapter the White Scars they are not much glory seekers, but they do like to honor and remember those they fought along side with. By trading a weapon for another weapon from the chapter they fought with, will not only help them remember who they are but will also help create strong bonds with each other. Only the officers will ever trade weapons with another officer, but there are some exceptions such as Sergeants or sometimes battle brothers who strayed off too far but fought with another.
Another tradition picked up by all the new Primaris Space Marines of The Rain Raiders is that each marine is given a chance to rename themselves upon becoming a Neophyte. All the Company Captains and Chapter Masters current names are more nicknames than actual names, brought up by themselves. When asked what their real names are, most either have forgotten it or don't elaborate, in doing so most of the Space Marine in Rain Raiders change their name as well. Sticking with one word or one name to go by.
The Rain Raiders have a deep respect for Techmarines and those who become one, since this chapter is made up of mainly vehicle combat, having a Techmarine is essential for continuous combat. Since Techmarines are so important for this chapter, theres at least three Techmarine per Company. A Techmarine is shown as a very respected and important role in the Rain Raiders, and Techmarines in the chapter have more loyalty to their own then of the Adeptus Mechanicas. They will continue to show dual loyalty but more so for the chapter.
One aspect that every Space Marine in the Rain Raiders has picked up is that the identity of their Leaders is quite unknown, in battle or on a campaign their helmets are never taken off, its always on as well as their armor. Although despite this Rain and his Captains do shed their armor only on their Home planet in their fortress monastery where only those that are apart of the Chapter are allowed to enter. Other than this one time almost no one outside of the chapter knows how the Chapter Master and the Company Captains actually looks like. Because of this every Space Marine in the chapter has picked up this tradition and they too, never reveal their face while in battle/campaign, leaving their identity a mystery. Like a White Scar they keep their glory seeking to a minimum only going to a feast to chat for a moment on the battle then being the first to leave, Rain and his Company Captains have learned quite well during their times in the White Scars.
Gene-Seed
Since the Chapter is of the Ultima Founding, there are no Gene Seed Deviancies of the chapter, at least around all the new members of the chapter. But from the Chapter Master Rain and his ten Captains, since they were of the 26th Founding and much older than those of the Rain Raiders they do share some of the Ferocious savagery the White Scars shared. Through this all the Space Marines of the Rain Raiders would pick up on the Chapter Master or their Company Captain's savagery in battle and would try to mimic it to help them in battle. Rain and his Captain's savagery seem to only really come out during battle as they laugh, become wild and fierce as they fight. But as the leaders of their new chapter, the constant reminder that they are not only the leaders of their chapter but also the mentors, it helps them to keep their ferocity in check without going too overboard.
Combat Doctrine
The Rain Raiders specialize in shock assault by using fast mechanized vehicles and with heavy weapon support. The Rain Raiders is famous for their customized attack bikes known as Bolt-Bikes that have two seaters, one is riding the bike, and the second passenger is a space marine with a jump pack. As per to their shock assault tactic. The two man team comes in with fast bolter fire, upon getting in close the attack bike dips down from the front and launches the second passenger up, as they use the forward momentum to fly up, and then down upon the enemies to get into close combat range. As the Jump pack marine is fighting their enemy, the attack bike will circle around them firing their bolter in the enemy's blind spots to help their jumper kill their target faster, then get back on the bike and find another target. A normal squad of Rain Raiders consists of 5 riders and 5 jump pack marines with one Sergeant leading them, the squad is usually accompanied by two Invader ATV and one Land Speeder that gets dropped off by a Thunderhawk or goes out from HQ.
Each Company Captain will appoint one 2nd Lieutenant within their company to be their 2nd in command. Most of the time these 2nd Lieutenants will be either appointed to become a Force Commander or take on tasks given by the Company Captain to help with giving orders elsewhere. Each 2nd Lieutenant (Force Commander) is accompanied by a squad of 10 Veteran Space Marines acting as their personal command squad, order and specific type of Space Marine role is varied per mission.
The Chapter also utilizes a new tactic that's not used in other chapters, but some of their Dreadnoughts are outfitted with tank treads to help them be more mobile when they fight and keep up with their Rider Brothers. The chapter calls them Dread-Tanks, its a dreadnought that's attached to tank treads, they're a lot faster than a normal dreadnought's speed, and a bit slower than tanks. They help support squads in taking out armored enemies by getting up close and ripping the armored unit or enemies away. Or using a Hellfire Dreadnought to give fast heavy weapons support, while keeping mobile. Although they only have a total of five Dread-Tanks due to them being scarce and also hard to make due to the complexity of how they're made.
There does come a time when vehicles are not available for a squad to use, if such missions are deployed on a ship or even an area where vehicles won't be useful in the situation if will call for ground combat. A typically ground squad consists of five ranged Space Marines and five melee space marines, still keeping to a normal squad when vehicle is used. A sergeant of the squad will normally always be a close combat combatant. Then a squad may be accompanied by a Sniper and a heavy space marine depending on the mission type.

Notable Space Marines
Rider Captain (Chapter Master) Rain: The current Chapter Master of the Rain Raiders, he started out during the 26th founding as a White Scars Veteran Sergeant in First Company along with his Vanguard Veteran squad, as he led ten other Veterans. During his time as a Veteran Sergeant of the White scars, he was given the Force Commander rank for several campaigns, using his squad mates as temporary officers leading a made up company of Space Marines into battle. Although most of his missions were very dangerous and had a high mortality rate, he always came out successful in his missions and always led the charge to make sure the mission was done correctly. After being proven that he was the right choice in being picked as a Force Commander, Rain and his squad were given a chance to become Primaris Space Marines, to cross the Rubicon. As a squad they all took it and became Primaris Space Marines but then was given a chance to lead a new Ultima Founding chapter. He agreed and him and his squad mates went to lead the new chapter as Chapter Master and his squad mates becoming Company Captains. Rain is currently 300 years old.
1st Company Rider Lieutenant Akaan: Also considered as Rain's right hand man of the chapter, Akaan was apart of Rain's original Vanguard Veteran squad and grew up with Rain when they first were Scout Marines. Out of the ten Captains, Akaan is the closest with Rain and have been with for many battles. Even during the time Rain was a Force Commander, Akaan acted as his 2nd in command in many of those missions. After crossing into the rubicon and became a Primaris Space Marine he joined Rain and became the 1st company Captain to lead the Veterans to battle. Akaan is currently 295 years old. Like Rain he's a man of small words and doesn't speak much unless he has to, though when he speaks, he always speaks in a stern and authoritative serious type of way.
2nd Company Rider Lieutenant Lighter: The youngest of the Vanguard Veteran squad under Rain and also happens to be the more energetic of the six as well, but among the six is the best close combat fighter among them, only seconded by Rain himself. Armed with double power swords he's the one that will be at the front of the fight and continue to the fight in White Scar fashion. As the most energetic one of the six he tends to speak louder and upfront on everything, because of this those of his company fight and speak in a similar way. One will know when he's fighting when he's laughing and cutting off heads of his enemies, even during the time he started he was always the type to keep up with his personality; he's currently 220 years old.
3rd Company Rider Lieutenant Kou: Rider-Lieutenant Kou is a rather strange but intense leader of 3rd Company, he is very quiet and tends to not speak all that much both in combat and out of combat. Although he teaches those under him how to use weapons and vehicles in his company, and someone who has great responsibility he leads them easily. What's strange with Kou is that he has a very high knack for Machines, hes almost that of a Tech marine but never went through the process of being one. He has vast knowledge on how to pilot and even fix various vehicle and weapons. Something from his past before of becoming a Space Marine he was something of a Mechanic, even in the White Scars he was quite silent but had a knack of fixing vehicles and weapons. Kou is currently about 150 years old, though his answer seems to change all the time the number people has heard on average was 250. The one person that keeps track of it seems to be Akaan and Rain.
4th Company Rider Lieutenant T'saran: Rider-Lieutenant T'saran, whos also happens to be Lighter's rival even during his time in the White Scars, they both had grown up in the same area and when they were young they always fought each other to see who had the best close combat prowess. As the leader of 4th company he teaches those under him how to fight in melee combat and the use of jetpack. Being similar age with Lighter; 221 years old the two seemed to always make everything a competition to see whos the best. In battle they always have to make some sort of killing competition to see who wins the most; so far from Rain's count they're dead even. Despite their rivalry they both see each other as strong comrades and will fight side by side with each other, saying as much as dying together on the battlefield.
5th Company Rider Lieutenant Ghost: A rather special case from the original member of the Vanguard Veteran squad, Ghost has always been one who was apart of the White Scars before Rain and Akaan came to be. He was there as a Battle Brother when Rain and Akaan were first Neophytes and fought along side them many times. Although he is older then both of them, he is quite stronger and more experienced then them. Although Rain isn't quite sure what his real age is, he does know he is older. But even then Rain trusts him with teaching all the Neophytes and Reivers under his command, despite the Phobos armor coming during the Ultima founding, Ghost had found that the armor was much better for him. He seem to connect to this style of combat far better then he did in his first armor. As the oldest he helps give Rain his insight from his experiences as a Space Marine but allows the final decision to be made by him.
Veteran Sergeant Rider Sunu: A Veteran Sergeant in 1st Company and one of the first to become a Veteran Sergeant in the Rain Raiders, has become an expert in Stealth warfare in the Phobos Armor. Among all the Reivers in the Chapter he has been the best and even help train most of the Reivers in the chapter. Took part in the Liberation of Bastion V along side his brother Chanu. Currently serving in the Deathwatch.
First Hwarang Chanu: First Hwarang Chanu is currently serving in the Chapter Master's Command Squad as Rain's Chapter Champion, he is highly skilled in melee combat and showed exceptional skills in fighting with a jump pack. Along with his brother Sunu, they both started at the same time and became Veteran Sergeants. Chanu typically fights with two melee weapons in each hand, a chain axe and a chain sword as well as a jump pack as he flies into battle with great zeal.
Rider Sergeant Josh: A recently made Sergeant of 2nd Company, showed great leadership as a battle brother Rider when his squad leader died on the battlefield, he took up the mantle and led his squad to victory and bringing the dead Sergeant's body back.
Rider Kade: Became a full fledged Battle Brother after the Liberation of Bastion V, fought besides the Chapter Master and killed an Ork boy before it attacked Rain from behind.
Dawn Breaker: A relic found during the Liberation of Bastion V, when Rain killed the Orkboss of the Waaagh. There the Orkboss was carrying a double chain axe, Rain would beat the Orkboss in single combat, though with some major injury he was able to cut off the Orkboss's arm holding the double chain axe. then picking up the chainaxe he decaptiated the Orkboss's head with it. After such a victory over the Orks he found that the double chain axe he used to kill the Orkboss with was not of Ork made but looked Imperium made, he decided to take the chain axe for his personal weapon instead, a symbol of his right to lead. Later on he found out that the chain axe used to belong to another chapter master of an another Successor chapter that was eliminated by the same Orkboss he killed. A Chapter he planned to honor by wielding the chain axe into battle killing as much Orks with it to make sure those who used to wield it can feel the Ork's demise.
Sentinel's Strike: A special power Axe Halberd that was inherited by the previous owner who was a White Scars Lieutenant, during the time when Akaan was a Veteran with Rain he took upon this glaive that was once owned by a Lieutenant in the First Company. The Lieutenant was killed by a Chaos Lord, Akaan took up the Giant Halberd and avenged his brother's life by killing the Chaos Lord with it. Akaan took the Halberd after defeating the chaos lord with it, it serves as his main weapon.
Qayan Helmet: Currently worn by Rider-Lieutenant Rider of 2nd Company, this helmet doesn't do much in terms of functionality, it serves as a normal space marine helmet would give to the user. But it hold a very special meaning, as it was a helmet passed down from generation to generation given to those who truly deserve such a helmet. The first was said to have fought along side the Primarch Jaghatai Khan, it now was passed down to Lighter, to whom was gifted to by his mentor who wore the helmet himself before giving it to Lighter. Lighter wears the helmet with pride as not only his mentor wore it but those before him had fought with great zeal.

2nd Company Captain Lighter fought along side Knights of Azähn's 3rd company Captain Keer during the Battle for Bororean Gate, successfully defending Brolalea from an Ork Waaagh. Lighter exchanged a Chainaxe from their armory for one of their Power Swords, both Lighter and Keer became close friends on the battlefield.
During the Liberation of Bastion V, The Rain Raiders fought alongside the 720th Cadian Armored Regiment and 303rd Cadian Infantry Regiment, The Rain Raiders witnessed and experienced first hand of the Cadian Fighting force and prowess. Chapter Master Rain has a deep respect for the fighting men and women of Cadia, and will always honor their names whenever he sees the regiment.
The Orks was the chapter's main enemy that stemmed from their first campaign against them when liberating their current home planet. The remnants have great hate towards them and actively attack them on their home planet, even though they lose everytime. But when every other Ork sees their brethren as trophies there will always be war.
