The Promethean Dragoons, a distinguished chapter hailing from the Ultima founding, proudly bear the mantle of successors to the revered Salamanders. Their lineage is steeped in the traditions of their predecessors, carrying forth the legacy of resilience, honor, and a fervent dedication to protecting humanity. Embracing the teachings of the Promethean cult, they uphold the values of self-sacrifice, valor, and the sanctity of life.
Central to the identity of the Promethean Dragoons is their profound bond with the Draconids, massive reptilian beasts indigenous to their homeworld. These majestic creatures, revered as symbols of strength and resilience, serve as formidable mounts for the Dragoons in battle. With their Draconid companions by their side, the chapter charges into combat with unrivaled ferocity, striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.
In battle, the Promethean Dragoons unleash a tide of flame and fury upon their foes, wielding an arsenal brimming with flamer and melta weapons. They dominate with their mastery of these incendiary and searing implements of destruction, turning the tide of battle with torrents of fire and blistering heat. Yet amidst the chaos of war, the Dragoons remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting innocent civilian lives, embodying the noblest ideals of heroism and compassion.
Chapter History[]
Being only founded at the latter half of the Indomitus Crusade, the Promethean Dragoons have not yet emerged as major players in the galaxy. They were formed in order to help investigate enemies both known and unknown within the Halo stars, all the while guarding imperial worlds from these abominable threats. To help with this task they were given Vesta Prime, which is located on the border between the Calixis Sector and the Koronus Expense.
The Betrayal at Ashen-fell
In their first major deployment, the Promethean Dragoons, faced a devastating betrayal orchestrated by the agents of chaos. The chapter was deceived by their revered Master of the Forge, who was secretly a warp-smith of the Alpha Legion. They were led to believe that a grave threat was emerging on Ashen-fell, a Forge world in a nearby system, which could endanger the chapter and crucial Imperial worlds. Trusting in his comrade’s counsel, the Chapter Master marshaled three full companies to confront the supposed menace, only to discover a trap laid by the warp-smith and corrupted Adeptus Mechanicus forces. Amidst the carnage, the warp-smith's allegiance to Chaos was revealed, unleashing devastation upon the loyalist Marines with dark sorcery. Despite their valor, the Promethean Dragoons found themselves overwhelmed by the combined might of the warp-smith and his corrupted allies. Nevertheless, in the end, the newborn chapter emerged victorious, although only a handful of survivors remained. Their spirits were shattered and their trust in their once-revered techmarines was irreparably damaged, serving as a grim reminder of the dangers of deception and the ever-present threat of Chaos lurking within the Imperium's ranks.
The Dragoons’ Second Birth
As the chapter master and three companies fought for their lives, Chaplain Sho'Tan Arkos of the Salamanders reached Vesta Prime. Welcomed warmly by the Promethean Dragoons, Sho'Tan wasted no time in sharing the wisdom of the Promethean cult, captivating listeners with his lectures. Within three weeks the Master of Sanctity officially relinquished his position to Sho'Tan Arkos. Also, during that time, an exciting discovery unfolded: several native Draconids proved trainable as mounts. A highly respected apothecary, Torinn Vala, distinguished himself by being the first and only person to tame a wild Storm-wing.
