The Patriarchs of Iron are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter descended from the lineage of the stoic and unforgiving Iron Hands. They are a newer Chapter comprised entirely of newly-revealed Primaris Space Marines. They were created as a part of the recent Ultima Founding to take part in the Indomitus Crusade and to stand as a bulwark against the enemies of Mankind.
Chapter History
Founded during the later part of the 42nd Millennium from original members of the Iron Hands Legion of old, former veteran Anatir Mon of the now extinct Clan Atraxii and his brothers awoke to a very different galaxy to fight in the Indomitus Crusade alongside Roboute Guilliman. The Patriarchs of Iron were formed in honor of the true teachings and legacy of Ferrus Manus. To serve the Emperor of Mankind and show the strength of humanity and the weakness of the traitor and the xenos alike. Thus the Patriarchs were born, bearing a fresh Crusade in Segmentum Obscurus with the might of a newly christened fleet of 10 Chapter Battle Barges and their respective escorts to scour the lost realm of the Emperor of Mankind and fight back the horrors emerging from the Cicatrix Maladictum.
Notable Campaigns
- Indomitus Crusade: (M42)
- Battle of Vorlese (M.42) - The Battle of Vorlese represented an attempt by the forces of Chaos to prevent Roboute Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade from leaving Terra by blocking all of the primary Warp routes from the Throneworld into the wider galaxy using the shards of Cadian Pylons to make Warp travel impossible. The Imperium successfully defeated Abaddon the Despoiler's attempt to prevent the reinforcement of the Imperium's defenders across the galaxy.
- War of Beasts (M.42) - The War of Beasts was the great conflict fought over the world of Vigilus, a Sentinel World that represented the crucial terminus of the Nachmund Gauntlet through the Great Rift. As long as the Imperium held Vigilus it could continue to send astropathic messages, starships, troops and supplies into the Imperium Nihilus. Vigilus came under assault from multiple xenos forces and the troops of Abaddon the Despoiler who sought to claim the strategic world for Chaos.
- Battle of Raukos (M.42) - The Battle of Raukos was a two-pronged assault upon the world of 108/Beta-Kalapus-9.2 and the Warp rift known as the Pit of Raukos in Wilderness Space. The Loyalist forces quickly overwhelmed the allied Traitor Legions -- including the Word Bearers, the Iron Warriors and the Black Legion -- using the strategic location of the Warp rift to carry out assaults upon the surrounding Imperial worlds. This victory marked the end of the Indomitus Crusade and the start of Guilliman's involvement in the Plague Wars.
- Black Star Campaign (143.M42)- After the conclusion of the Indomitus Crusade, the formation of Greyshields that formed the bulk of what would become the Patriarchs of Iron, lead by Lord Patriarch Anatir Mon, were tasked with bringing the worlds systems to the galactic east of the now fallen Cadian Gate back into the control of the Imperium. Lord Patriarch Anatir Mon currently is leading the might of his Chapter against the combined forces of the Burning Hands Warband of the Word Bearers and the Steel Brethren of the Iron Warriors. The current status from limited reports show that the Chapter is currently assaulting the shrine world of Kalpapatis II, laying siege to the entrenched Chaos Space Marines who have dug in around the capitals center.

Chapter Combat Doctrine
The Patriarchs prefer the unyielding punishment of massed Batteline Squads and the support of Mechanized Repulsor elements to crush their enemies. Relying on the supreme tactical superiority and synergy of differing elements of Astartes Combat capabilities has seen every battle and war the Patriarchs have prosecuted ending in extreme success and glory for the chapter. Their success is also due to their uniformity and cooperation as a unified fighting force as a Chapter. Their full strength being enacted as often as possible.
Chapter Beliefs
The Patriarchs of Iron heed the original teachings of Ferrus Manus from the Canticle of Travels, being unbending and unyielding in their spirits. Like the Iron Hands, the Patriarchs share the same cold, logical pathology of their first founding brothers. Quick to temper and unyielding in battle, these battle brothers share none of the hatred of flesh like the Iron Hands. Instead believing in the flesh they have been given from the Emperor and their Primarch. Replacing the flesh of their bodies only when battlefield injuries demand it. It is rare indeed to see a Patriarch with extensive bionics. Typically those of the Veteran Companies having extensive bionics replacements shows their renown as warriors as well as their unending duty to the Emperor. The veterans of the Patriarchs harbor a distaste for their bionic state, instead developing a melancholic state from reliance on the machine parts of their bodies instead of the flesh. They hold no reverence toward the Iron Hands.
Chapter Gene-Seed
The Chapter owe their lineage their slain progenitor Ferrus Manus. Sharing the same cold fury and pathologic minds as he. Their gene-seed is fairly stable, lacking any signs of degradation. The Patriarchs of Iron, share none of the hatred of flesh like their fellow scions of Ferrus Manus, like the Iron Hands and its successors. Some within the ranks of the Iron Hands see this as an inherent flaw within the Patriarchs and ultimately view it as a weakness which has cause tension between the two Chapters on more than one occasion.
There is a myth, rumors, still repeated amongst the Tech-priests of Mars, that the Iron Hands' Primarch knew of this weakness within the original Legion that is still manifested in the Iron Hands Chapter, and wished to purge it. Many within the senior circles of the Mechanicus had seen scrolls, purportedly written in the hand of Ferrus Manus, that stated the matter clearly. No one knew if these scrolls were genuine. Even if Ferrus intended it, he died long before he could accomplish it. Of anyone, the current Chapter Master who served The Gorgon during the Heresy as one of his Iron Captains knows the truth of the matter.

Having his origins from the first intake of initiate at the start of the Great Crusade having forged his own legend before his Lord Primarch Ferrus Manus was among them. Described as taciturn and composed, with a degree of bellicose Anatir Mon was a trusted leader of men and confidant to the Lord Primarch among the inner circle of the Legion. His close friend and brother being none other than Gabriel Santor of the Morlocks. It was with great regret that the Primarch singled him as well as those of his ilk that were selected to depart from the Legion to head to Terra.
