The Onyx Stars are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter descended from the lineage of the heroic and compassionate Salamanders. They are a newer Chapter comprised entirely of newly-revealed Primaris Space Marines. They were created as a part of the recent Ultima Founding to take part in the Indomitus Crusade and to stand as a bulwark against the enemies of Mankind.
Chapter History
Hailing from the unnumbered sons, the Onyx Stars were formed from the gene-stock of Vulkan. They share the same stoic and ferocious battle prowess as their Primarch, being warrior scholars like Vulkan. Having settled on the night world of Vixis IV, they have operated in their region of space combating an embedded splinter of Hive Fleet Kraken within Segmentum Tempestus. Having suffered the loss of the entire 3rd Battle-Clan after their Captain destroyed their Clan Battle Barge when a Broodlord and its kin boarded their vessel, recruitment has been doubled on the planet and system-wide to replenish the losses suffered.

Chapter Organization
The Chapter consists of Battle-Tribes, the equivalent of a company that operates autonomously to one another. Each Battle-Tribe maintains its own warship, vehicles and tech-wrights. Each Captain has the authority to operate as they see fit. Though, each Battle-Tribe works closely with one another, still maintaining the close bonds of brotherhood through war. It is the very condition of their autonomy and structure that gives the Onyx Stars the coordination and deadliness in war that the Captains of their respective Tribes if not exclusively work together with their brothers, only being dispatched singularly in dire circumstances.

Chapter Beliefs
The brotherhood of the Onyx Stars is similar in beliefs as its parent chapter. Self-reliance, sacrifice and stoicism. Life on Vixis IV is especially tough since the system star merely kisses the surface. It needs tough aspirants and especially tough Space Marines from its perpetual night and bitter cold. The warriors of this chapter took the name "Onyx Stars" from their ever-distant and nearly black-looking star. Believing if their star persists, so will they. Relying on one another as brothers to turn the tide of the never-ending war in the realm of the Emperor.
They differ in one distinct manner from the 1st Founding of their line. They share none of the self-sacrificing tendency of giving their lives for mortals. Instead considering such tendencies as an inherent weakness of their progenitor chapter. Though warriors of this brotherhood would lay down their lives for one another on any given notion.

Genetic Deficiencies
The brothers of this chapter have developed onyx like complexions and red ember glowing eyes like the salamanders. They have also developed the ability to regularly see on the infrared spectrum. Adapting them, especially for night and low visibility operations. Upon the first meeting between the Onyx Stars and Salamanders, the latter was taken aback by their brother chapters appearance, seeing the identical visage of themselves. The Onyx Stars Astartes also demonstrated the similar if not identical ritual branding upon their faces, and the "Canticle of Fire" ritual.
Chapter Combat Doctrine
The warriors of the Onyx Stars prefer to wage war face-to-face with their enemy. Favoring close combat engagements, the Stars possess a larger contingent of Assault and Outrider elements within their companies as opposed to the traditional Codex-compliant chapters. They too favor flame, volkite and melta weaponry to enact maximum damage to their foes.

Chapter Colors
The chapter primarily wear white colored power armor with black flames that adorn the arms, legs and helms of battle brothers; a nod to the heritage of the Salamanders. The Aquila is painted gold. The inset of the shoulder guards is also painted white.

The Onyx Stars' Chapter badge takes the form of a black colored, stylized star symbol.
