"Semper pro Imperatorem! Semper porro Dracones!"
—Last words of Centurio Tullius on Tartella IV, during the Plague Wars, 119.M42

The Novadracones are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the 26th Founding, created as a Successor Chapter of the Novamarines (descended from the lineage of the Ultramarines Legion).

They are the 984th Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.

The chapter's homeworld is Gamatorius, capital world of the Gamator system.

Foundation

The Foundation request was approved in 989.M41, but the chapter was officially founded in 008.M42: indeed, it is on this date that the first entry in the imperial archives appears as its founding statutes.

However, the dating of the seals of the Adeptus Terra and those of the Inquisition, appearing at the bottom of the Act, strangely connect it to the 26th Foundation (738.M41). This anomaly remains unexplained to this day.

Chapter Gene-Seed

The Novadracones' gene-seed is derived from the Novamarines.

In keeping with the noble lineage of Roboute Guilliman, it shows no signs of Chaos contamination or mutation and produces the full range of Space Marine organ implants.

>>> Novamarines Heritage

The Novamarines' genetic contribution was made possible by an official (and mysterious) request from the Adeptus Terra, enjoining these sons of Guilliman to make contact with the one who would become Legatus 1st of his name.

The Novadracones honor this Heritage through their name and heraldry.

However, it should be noted that the two chapters share little in common, beyond this affiliation.

>>> Genesis

The following lines are taken from the "Chronicae Novae Draconum", the "Horae Capituli" (Chapter Acts) of the Novadracones Chapter (translated into Low Gothic):

008.M42
Test subject declared stable: The neophyte becomes the Novae Dracones first initiate (first name of the chapter). No genetic instability noticed: Chapter creation confirmed by Adeptus Administratum and agreed by Fabricator General No chapter command established : the initiate joins the Novamarines' 10th company.
010-025.M42
Establishment of the Novae Dracones High Command, gathering the nine first primaris battle brothers. They will learn and fight during many more years among the Novamarines. Eventually, the nines will be known as Novem fratres primi: Tullius (former Novamarines neophyte), Juventius, Eudoxio, Amulius, Eulogius, Demetrius, Donatus, Arsinius and Titus. The eight younger brothers are chosen among the population of Gamatorius for the first time (so known as Gama Septimus).
017.M42
The Adeptus Mechanicus provides 100 healthy stocks of 19 primaris gene seeds to the chapter: the first neophytes are recruited in the chapter Xth Centuria (10th Company in High Gothic, according to the Novadracones). First Sententia and Judicatio: the younglings' trials of the chapter.
032.M42
The 23 first initiates from the Xth Centuria, placed under Legatus' direct high command : pacification operations on Gama Septimus moon : Gama Septimus Secunda (now Septima)
050.M42
Tullius, the first initiate, become Centurio of Centuria III (Captain of the 3rd company)
064.M42
61 initiates in Centuria X
088.M42
100 initiates in Centuria X : the company officially specializes as a scout company.
53 "fratres" in Centuria III
111.M42
First notable campaign : Plague Wars

Notable Campaigns

>>> Plague Wars (111.M42)

The Plague Wars were a series of battles that occurred within the Realm of Ultramar between the forces of the Chaos God Nurgle and the Imperium at the end of the first phase of the Indomitus Crusade.

For this first official deployment, the Centuriae III and X (the first formed) of the "Novae Dracones", were engaged in the rear guard on Iax, alongside the Novamarines. Few losses recorded.

Gamator System

  • Segmentum: Tempestus
  • Sector: Draco
  • Sub-Sector: Glaurung

Gamator is an imperial binary star system.

There are some evidence that the system was once part of the Imperium of Man, before being erased from Imperial records during the Age of Apostasy (M36). The allegiance of the authorities at the time is unknown (unless the systema has descended into civil war between supporters of the Ecclesiarchy and supporters of the Administratum). It is assumed that the craters still visible on the surface of Gamatorius, and other planets of the systema, are due to reprisals and fighting. The degradation of the radiation levels measured there confirms the detonation of Imperial nuclear weapons around M36.

The system was rediscovered by Legatus I at an uncertain date.

Since the Edictum Vigilantiae of 200.M42, the Gamator system is divided into two defense zones (called "Vigilia"):

  • Gamator Primarius: Vigilia of the Novadracones Chapter (Adeptus Astartes)
  • Gamator Secundarius: Vigilia of the Order of the Redemptive Light (Adepta Sororitas)

>>> Gamator Primarius

  • Gamator Primarius I: δ-class (delta class) or dead world - Scorched world - Chapter training ground
  • Gamator Primarius II: δ-class (delta class) or dead world - Scorched world - Chapter training ground
  • Gamator Primarius III: gas planet - Orbital fuel refineries
  • Gamator Primarius IV: prison world
  • Corona Magna: arteroid Field - Threat: orkoid piracy (contact in 101.M42)
  • Gamator Primarius V: gas planet - Orbital fuel refineries
  • Gamator Primarius VI: δτ-class (delta T class) or death world - Deadly atmosphere - threat: presence of a colony of Eldars Exodites (proven since the Cor Dei incident - 151.M42)
  • Gamator Primarius VIIa: γ-class (gamma class) or civilised world - Name: Gamatorius - capital planet of the systema
  • Gamator Primarius VIIb: ρ-class (rhô class) or research stations - Name: Septima - Archeotechnology Research Center (Adeptus Mechanicus)
Gamator Logo

Symbol of the Consilium Superior Gamatoris

>>> Consilium Superior Gamatoris

The Consilium Superior Gamatoris is the governing body of the dual systema.

Its members are:

  • The three civil governments of Gamator
    • The High Chancellor of Gamapolis
    • The Governor of the Septentrio Heights
    • The Overlord of Enderita
  • Legatus - the Chapter Master of the Novadracones
  • The Canoness of the Ordo Lucis Redemptricis
  • The High Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites
  • The Fabricator General of Septima

Gamatorius

After Legatus arrival, Gamatorius became the Novadracones homeworld. Initially poor and under developed, Gamator became prosperous and populated on purpose: to give battle brothers to the Novadracones.

There are three main political entities on Gamatorius:

  • Gamapolis (310 000 000 souls)
  • Septentrio (22 000 000 souls)
  • Enderita (15 000 000 souls)

>>> Geography

Gamatorius orbites a giant yellow sun: Gamator Primaria (or simply Primaria).

Radiations from Primaria (and possibly the planet's troubled history) has shaped Gamatorius' surface:

  • The poles are cold and desolate: they are an ideal training ground for the battle brothers and soldiers of the Gamatorian Regimenta.
  • The hemispheres are rather temperate: the majority of the Gamatorius population lives in the northern hemisphere (in the hive city of Gamapolis).
  • The equator and the tropics receive a lot of radiation from Primaria. It could kill a human in a short time. A different flora has therefore developed there: Malva ("mallow"). It is a purple-tinted plant, taking many forms (trees, grasses, bushes...). Its emanations and spores are extremely toxic.

>>> Lex Impérialis

As is appropriate in a Gama-class world, judicial affairs and the application of the Lex Imperialis are entrusted to the Arbitrators of the Adeptus Arbites.

The Juridictio Gamatoris extends to the entire double systema (independently of the Edictum Vigilantiae). Adamus Antamonides is the current High Marshal in charge of this mission.

>>> Planetary government

As a Chapter World, Gamatorius is subject to the directives of the Novadracones.

However, according to the wishes of Legatus, the first of the name, a civil government has been maintained.

This one manages the current affairs of the world: economic, demographic, military development and administrative management. Until the Edictum Vigilantiae of 200.M42, it carried out these missions until Gamator Secundarius Colonia (which became Sancta Lucia in 154.M42)

>>> Regimenta

The Systema began training regiments upon its reintegration into the Imperium, although its status as a Chapter World normally exempts it from tithes by the Astra Militarum (Aptus none).

This specificity was encouraged by the Novadracones Chapter, as a demonstration of the commitment of the planetary government to the Emperor's campaigns.

Dominium - Montes Draconis

A Gamatorian legend tells that the greatest dragon of Gamatorius once rebelled against the enemies of the Emperor. They slew him through treachery. His giant body shattered where he now stands, as Montes Draconis. To honor this sacrifice, the Emperor decided that he would never be forgotten and placed his angels there to guard his tomb.

The chapter dominium is formed by Montes Draconis, a 5 mountains chain in the southern hemisphere of Gamatorius:

  • Ala Majora - the greater wing: Location of the Cubiculum (Apothecarium)
  • Ala Minora - the smaller wing: Location of the Flaminia (Reclusiam)
  • Pes Draconis - the dragon paw: Location of the Cathedra Flabilis (Librarium)
  • Globus Draconis - the dragon globe: Location of the Flumen Sanguinis (Chapter Forge - Volcano situed near the head)
  • Sedes Draconis - the dragon seat: Training zone
  • Caput Draconis - The dragon head: The Nidus (Fortress-Monastery)

>>> Fortress-Monastery - Caput Draconis

The Novadracones Fortress-Monastery takes places at Caput Draconis, The dragon head of Montes Draconis. The mountain chain is massively defended by heavy defense batteries.

Each Centuria/Company has its own prioria:

  • Fortacilia Capituli ("Chapter Fortress"): Legatus prioria - Connected to Porta Draconum by Vallis Inflexibilium ("Valley of the Inflexibles") bordered by statues of heroes of the broken legions.
  • Porta Draconum ("Dragons Gate"): Priory of Centuria I - Protects the Valley of the Inflexibles and Legatus prioria.
  • Corna Magna ("Great Horn"): Priory of Centuria II - Seat of the permanent guard of the Dominium.
  • Vallis Tertiae ("Valley of the Third"): Priory of Centuria III - Chapter Armory.
  • Arx Phoenicis ("Height of the Phoenix"): Priory of Centuria IV - Chapter Spaceport.
  • Limes Primus ("First Frontier"): Priory of Centuria V - Base of operations for expeditions carried out throughout the systema by the 5th Company.
  • Vallis Arcanae ("Valley of the Arcane"): Priory of Centuria VI - Chapter bike storage.
  • Vallis Offertorii ("Valley of the offering"): Priory of Centuria VII - Chapter ammunition, quartermaster and Storm Speeders storage (when put into service).
  • Morsus Ultimus ("Ultimate Bite"): Priory of Centuria VIII - Chapter jails and place of execution.
  • Vallis Calicis ("Valley of the Chalice"): Priory of Centuria IX - Chapter Sacristy.
  • Oculus Draconis ("Dragon Eye"): Priory of Centuria X - Training center for recruits.

Each prioria includes:

  • quarters for battle-brothers and serfs
  • a chapel
  • a cloister
  • a training hall
  • a refertory

Chapter Recruitment

Messio

Every Terran year (3 Gamatorian years), the VIth Company (or Centuria in the Chapter's traditions) practices the Messio (the "Harvest"). The Messio consists of the collection of young boys from Gamatorius: they will fill the ranks of the Novadracones, either as serfs or as battle brothers. The objective is to harvest 10,000 children.

Thunderbirds from the VIth Company land near the main towns of Gamatorius: Enderita, Septentrio and especially Gamapolis. As the Messio approaches, the inhabitants are ordered to present boys between 8 and 10 terran years old. Squads of battle brothers roam the streets and collect candidates who seem suitable to them. In order to make this choice, they examine their general state of health, their constitution, their teeth and hair, the absence of corruption or mutation.

These localities are harvested alternately, so as not to exhaust the human resource. Gamapolis is harvested by districts, due to its size (3 million souls). The territories currently being colonized are spared for the moment.

Revolt

The revolt of 93.M42. The crowd gathers as the procession led by the battle brothers of Centuria VI approaches.

The noble Gamatorian families consider the choice of one of their own as an honor: they adorn the candidate in order to make him the most visible to a battle brother. The poorest, especially in the districts of the lower city of Gamapolis, see it as a chance to get rid of a mouth to feed. The majority undergo this bleeding in the youth of the planet with resignation. Only once has a Messio been confronted with a revolt: in 93.M42, the poor Gamapolitan district of Vallis Spei rose up against the levy. The battle brothers were forced to restore order with "rigor".

The chosen ones are then dressed in white tunics and placed in the Rhinos accompanying the procession. They finally take their places in the thunderbirds that will take them to Montes Darconis and more precisely Oculus Draconis.

Sententia

Upon their arrival, the 10,000 children selected during the Harvest are sent to Oculus Draconis, "the Dragon's Eye": the training center for recruits of the 10th company.

Each then becomes a Novicius. During a Gamatorian year (115 Terran days), he undergoes psycho indoctrination and high-intensity combat training (armed and hand-to-hand). He also joins a tent, named Contubernium, with 9 other boys.

The Contubernia are divided into camps (called Nidus Primus or "first nest"), each bringing together 1000 children. A Messio therefore produces 100 Nidi, bringing together a total of 1000 Contubernia of 10 boys.

After this first year, the Novicius participates in the Sententia: a choice offered to each child, the last choice of his life. On this occasion, all the Contubernia of a Harvest are gathered in front of the Pupilla Draconi, the "Dragon's Pupil" (the amphitheater and arena of the Novadracones). There, each must answer the question asked to all by the Captain of the 10th company (or one of his lieutenants):

- Numquid sunt Dracones in vobis? - ( "Are there any dragons among you?")

If the child wishes to answer positively, he takes a step forward.

The Novicii have been severely tested during the past year, some have not survived (about 10%), and they have been informed of the low survival rate during the Sententia. The Chapter's up-to-date reports indicate an average rate of 13.7% of recruits wishing to pass the test (which represents 1000 to 1500 children).

Several Contubernia are waiting in the atrium of the Pupilla Draconi. The arena where the Incontra takes place is visible on the horizon.

Several Contubernia are waiting in the atrium of the Pupilla Draconi. The arena where the Incontra takes place is visible on the horizon.

The novicius who refused the Sententia become Servus ("serf"): he joins the chapter's fleet, is placed in the service of a battle brother or within the auxilia troops. This rate is knowingly desired by the Chapter: the demand for human resources for menial tasks is very high (especially within the fleet, requiring tens of thousands of recruits). On the other hand, the fact of deciding to pass the Sententia is perceived as a first essential act of will, despite a year of deprivation, violence and fear in which they have lived. This is a first way to separate the future Novii from the teeming mass of serfs.

The Sententia continues with the entry of the Novicii who have taken a step forward, inside the Pupil. They form new contubernia of 10, called "Contubernium Sententiae". A gladius is given to each boy. If a group does not reach 10, its members (nicknamed "scales") are distributed in other contubernia, to give groups of 11 or 12. This increase in the expected number of members is not important, given the low survival rate in the Pupil.

Once a Contubernium enters the arena, the doors are sealed. The Novicii take their places in its center.

Scitia male

A male scitia (with comparison to the size of an adult human) - illustration by Brother Wietzefopma, Epistolary of the Librarium

Then the opposite doors are opened and the Incontra ("Meeting") begins: a male scitia is introduced into the arena. This is the most dangerous and aggressive terrestrial reptilian form of Gamatorius: a quadruped with pink skin, agile, fast and powerful, equipped with sharp fangs and claws. Its long tail ends in a second mouth just as dangerous as the first, although smaller. Hundreds of scitia are raised by the Chapter for the sole purpose of serving the Sententia. The scitia has been starved in order to make the Sententia even more selective: it logically attacks the children. The headquarter of the 10th company observes the scene. The majority of the Novicii try to flee, which tends to excite the scitia: these only survive a few minutes, or even seconds. A minority understands this or is of a more combative nature and tries to confront the beast: these recruits are those sought after by the Sententia. Despite everything, the vast majority of the contubernia perish entirely in the arena. For some groups, one, two, or even three survivors (rarely more) manage to kill the scitia and can leave the arena. The Pupil is completely isolated from the outside: the other groups, not having yet returned, have neither seen nor heard what happened there. The Incontra rarely lasts more than 10 minutes. At a rate of 5 to 6 Encounters per hour, it takes two standard Gamatorian days (2x14h) to get all the Contubernia through.

Once all the contubernia have been "tested", the survivors (5%) are gathered into "Contubernia Calicis" ("Contubernium of the Chalice") of 10 Novicii maximum. The maximum record of children having reached this stage is 52 (128.M42). The minimum is 3 (107.M42). They advance in procession to the immense Gates of the Three Valleys, the only land access to the Dragon's Eye, as large as the mountains that surround them and on which hundreds of dragons are sculpted.

The "Contubernia Calicis" travel together through three valleys:

  • First, Vallis Arcanae ("the Valley of the Arcane"), seat of the priory of the VIth company: the chaplains recall the Emperor's dream for Humanity, the ideals of the Great Crusade, His sacrifice and that they are offered the possibility of becoming his angels... if they deserve it.
  • Then, Vallis Offertorii ("the Valley of the Offering"), seat of the priory of the VIIth company: the Novicii are treated there, washed and donate their clothes and last personal effects. Before leaving, they wear the Tunicula, a tunic in the colors of the Chapter.
  • Finally, Vallis Tertiae ("the Valley of the Third"), seat of the priory of the IIIrd company: the Novicii hand over the Gladius they received when entering the Pupil and prepare to enter Vallis Calicis.

The Valley of the Chalice is about twenty kilometers long. It is made up of snowy, desolate, steep cliffs and bottomless chasms. Nothing lives there, nothing grows there. Each Contubernium must cross it to reach the priory of the IXth company, located on the other side. The crossing takes 2 to 3 days, although few make it to the end: many fall, die of exhaustion, hunger or thirst, if the cold does not kill them before. If fewer than 10 children have reached this stage, they are escorted by brothers of the VIth company for the first few kilometers (proportionally to their number). It often happens that no Novicii arrive at the gates of the priory. This Harvest is called: Incubatio sterilis ("sterile brood").

The few who succeed are welcomed at the Gates of the priory by the Captain of the IXth company (or one of his lieutenants): he hands them the Calix Draconum, one of the most precious relics of the Chapter. It contains a mixture designed by the esotheric science of the apothecarium, which prepares the body of the Novicius for transformation into a space marine.

The boy then falls into a deep coma. He spends the following weeks in a stasis tank of the Apothecarium (on Ala Majora). This is the last test of the Sententia: surviving the transformation induced by the Calix Draconum. If he succeeds, the Novicius becomes a Novus. He receives a new name (in High Gothic), his first implant and joins the 10th Company (beginning of the "Cursus Progenii").

Judicatio

After receiving 21 of the 22 primaris implants, the Novii pass the Judicatio.

Still spread out across Contubernia, they meditate one night within the Flaminia (Reclusiam) under the supervision of the Reclusiarch. The next morning, they board Caestus Assault Rams.

The pilots are ordered to travel the entire planet until a Draco appears.

Even more dangerous than a scitia, a draco is a winged reptilian creature (juveniles at the level of the legs and adults in the form of an outgrowth on the back). It has the ability to adapt its body to the environment in which it lives: the color and appearance of its skin changes (for camouflage purposes) and it develops a different breath. Breath (called "Vultus" in High Gamatorian) is the ability of a draco to suck in nearby elements, compress them in its abdomen, then spit them out under high pressure (150 to 200 Terran bars).

Contubernium 128 D - charge finale des 4 frères survivants

4 types of draco have been listed:

  • Draco aquārum ("waters draco"): hides in flooded chasms, dollines or underground caves. It spits water and sediment. Its skin is mostly blue, dotted with outgrowths mimicking plant forms.
  • Draco āerum ("airs draco"): hides at the top of mountains and hills. It spits mainly air (and some minerals). Its skin is mostly gray and similar to the stone that surrounds it. Most common draco during a Judicatio.
  • Draco profundōrum ("depths draco"): lives in caves in the heart of valleys and under certain forests. It spits sediments and crushed minerals (in a form similar to sand). Its skin is mostly brown, although specimens with green or purple growths have been observed (the latter color indicates an origin from Malva Magna, at the planet's equator).
  • Draco maior ("major draco"): installed under and on volcanoes. It spits lava and minerals at very high temperatures (it conserves this heat and this matter by an extreme constriction of its abdomen). The color of its skin varies greatly. It is the largest and most dangerous specimen, but also the rarest.

This is not a hunt: the Caestus travels through Gamatorius, until a draco (whatever it is) is spotted. The Chapter tradition is that THIS specific draco becomes the Judicator ("judge") of the Contubernium. By taking flight or remaining in the same position, he indicates the place where he will render his Judicatio ("judgement"): does he recognize them as worthy of bearing the name of "Dragon" and defending the Imperium in the name of the Emperor? In order to decide it, the Novii must confront the draco and seize one of its scales.

The morning after the meditation at the Flaminia, the Chaplains gave them the same gladius that was entrusted to them during the Sententia. They also receive a shield and a lance. These are the "arguments of the Juducatio". The Judicatio ends with all the surviving members of the Contubernium obtaining a scale, or its eradication.

The Novii are supervised by an officer of the VIth Company, a chaplain and, above all, two apothecarii. The latter are responsible for watching over the already implanted progenoid glands. If an apothecarius considers the injury inflicted on a Novus to be fatal, he will remove the glands before irreparable deterioration. For this reason alone, the Novus is allowed to keep his ceramite armor (protecting a good part of the 21 glands).

Once this test is over, the Novii are considered true battle brothers and receive the Black Carapace, the last of the implants allowing them to wear energy armor. They will keep the gladius, the shield and the spear, as well as the draco scale that they will wear on their energy armor.

In rare cases, only one Novus survives the Judicatio: he then bears the nickname "Ultimus".

Even more rarely, the title of "Pius" is granted to members of a Contubernium who choose (and above all succeed) in not killing the Draco, but simply in removing its scales. In fact, this scenario has only occurred once: the sole survivor of Contubernium 119 A, spared the life of the Draco profundōrum (with purple scales) who had "judged" all his other companions. He was then named Pius Ultimus and was elevated many years later to the rank of Frater Major of Centuria II, becoming a true legend within the Chapter.

Beliefs

>>> The Emperor

Like most Adeptus Astartes chapters, the Novadracones refute the idea that the Emperor is a god. They consider him the most important human in history: the unifier of his people, the greatest military strategist, and the most powerful psyker, the only one capable of sitting on the Golden Throne.

The chapter firmly believes that this creation of the technological Dark Ages grants the Emperor profound abilities and that he is now able to extend his mind throughout the galaxy. He seems to be able to perceive the murmurs and complaints of humanity and even, on rare occasions, intervene in crucial events: as he did during the confrontation between his vengeful son Roboute Guilliman and the traitor Mortarion.

>>> High Gothic

The Novadracones mainly use High Gothic: all documents, ranks, names and places are written in this way. Through this orthodoxy, the Novadracones aspire to be as close as possible to the words, ideas and will of the Emperor. The preservation of the history is very important in the philosophy of the Chapter. It is about preserving the truth of the Emperor.

>>> Names

''Novadracones'' is plural; each battle-brother is a Novadraco (although this term is rarely used).

The term Draco or Dragon is most often used among the young recruits of the 10th Centuria.

Among themselves, Novadracones call themselves "Frater" (brother in High Gothic). Special ranks are attached to this common term: "Frater Centurio", "Frater Legatus", etc.

Mortals address to battle-brothers as "my lord." Every inhabitant of Gamatorius is taught this from a young age... though it is highly unlikely they will ever encounter a Novadraco in their lifetime. While the Chapter regards mortals with compassion, each battle-brother represents a piece of the Emperor's Glory, which is reflected in this deference.

>>> Combat Doctrine

Arrogance is the worst sin, according to the Novadracones: no fortress, nor any position, is impregnable. Underestimating an enemy can lead to total disaster. The careful analysis of the adversary's capabilities and the most intelligent use of the Chapter's resources are at the heart of the Novadracones' combat doctrines.

Resilience is the Chapter's main weapon. However, impassively undergoing assaults and holding a position is not enough: the objective must always be to gain the maximum amount of ground in the name of the Emperor, square meter by square meter.

This is the Novadracones' credo: "semper porro" ("always forward").

>>> The cult of the Inflexibles

To satisfy the spiritual needs of his brothers and inspire them, Legatus the First established the "cult" of the Inflexibles (Inflexibiles in High Gothic).

More than a belief or dogma, this practice highlights the example of ten brothers who remained unwaveringly faithful during the heresy of the arch-traitor Horus: they were rejected by their brothers or were members of a traitorous or broken legion.

The Novadracones are invited to study and meditate on their respective histories: may they serve as examples during their centuries of service to the Emperor. In moments of doubt, may they remember the will of the Inflexibles.

Some Centuriae have specifically adopted one of these figures as their guardian role model (Nathaniel Garro for the 4th Company, for example). This is due to the chapter's youth: its battle honors are still too rare to be solely related to the history of the Dragons of Gamatorius.

In the Chapter's Fortress Valley (Vallis Fortacilia Capituli), 10 statues of the Unyielding line the Via Alba (the White Way) leading to Legatus Fortress. The Unyielding are:

Command

>>> Legatus

"Legatus" is the title borne by the Novadracones Chapter Masters. This is an ancient rank, originating during the Age of Terra. In High Gothic, this term means "Sent with a mission".

Each Legatus swears to carry out the mission of maintaining and expanding the Imperium of Mankind, whether within his Dominium, or in any other assignment or circumstance decreed by Terra.

>>> Concilium

The Concilium advises Legatus. Chapter Librarius, Reclusiarch, Apothecarion and Armorius siege as Conciliatores.

Warning: The following information is known only to the Adeptus Terra. No unauthorized readers are permitted.

Concilium Trium Draconum
The Novadracones own three Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts. Each has a shoulder pad marked with the Deathwatch heraldry. Their origins are uncertain (the Inquisition seems embarrassed about this).
Their names are Corvus, Angelus and Saurus.
They form the Concilium Trium Draconum: the "council of the three dragons".

The Novadracones respect the Codex Astartes : the chapter is split into 10 companies (called Centuria in High Gothic) of 100 Marines (called Frateres) each, plus a Space Marine Captain (Centurio), Apothecary, Company Standard and Chaplain for each one.

Each company is called "Centuria". The Centuria numbers are written in High Gothic numbers: "Centuria III". A Centuria is commanded by a Centurio. His helmet is white. A crest shows the number and color of his Centuria: 3 red stripes for Centuria III.

Majores II

Helmets of Centuria II Frateres Majores (Codex lieutenant)

Quinaria (50 Fratres)

A Centurio is assisted by two Majors (Lieutenants). Each Major wears a crested Codex Lieutenant helmet.

The crest shows the color of the Centuria he belongs to. A Frater Major can command a Quinaria, formed with five Decuria.

Decurio

Decurio Helmets (Codex sergeant) - Frater and Frater Evocatus

Decuria (10 Fratres)

Each Decuria (Codex squad) is led by a Decurio (Codex-rank; Sergeant).

A Decurio wears a red face and head stripe helmet.

Appearance

Novadracones descriptio

Chapter Colours

The power armor scheme of the Novadracones was inspired by the Novamarines: part Cobalt blue, Corvus black and bone white on the Aquila and face.

The left shoulder plate of the power armour shows the Chapter Badge.

>>> Chapter Badge

The Novadracones' Chapter badge shows a white Dragon. Gamatorius host a reptile species, similar to the ancient legendary beast of old Terra, called "dragon". The Gamatorius inhabitants call it "Draco".

>>> Company Colours

Each Centuria has a unique colour that its members wear on the right shoulder plate rim and the left knee pad.

>>> Squad Markings

The right pad of the power armour shows the squad badge, this shows the type of squad the marine belongs to and the number of the squad he belongs to.

The left knee pad also shows the squad number.

  • Veteran Squads use a stylised version of the Crux Terminatus similar to a Cross Pattée,
  • Tactical Squads use an arrow,
  • Assault Squads use four perpendicular arrows pointing outwards
  • Devastator Squads use an inverted V.
  • Terminator wear the Crux Terminatus on their left pad, and their Chapter Badge on their right pad.

Liveries

Legatus and Lucius (servus primus capituli) - 121.M42

Legatus II and his servus ("serf") Lucius - 121.M42

When not deployed in a combat zone or on a mission, the battle-brothers and neophytes wear the Chapter's colours in the form of a Livery ("liberare" in High Gothic).

  • The Levis Armatura ("light armor"): a lighter version of the equipment worn by the Novi (neophytes) of Centuria X, consisting of a breastplate of carapace armour, covering the Cappa (white full outfit) and completed by black gauntlets and boots.
  • The Surcotum: a black and blue surcoat. It is worn by both the battle-brothers and the Novi
  • The Mantellum: a black hooded "cloak" featuring the insignia of the white dragon. Only worn by the battle-brothers, it covers the Surcotum. It is given to the Novus after his Judicatio, as the symbol of his full entry into the Chapter.
  • The Galerus Draconariī: This is the shoulder pad of the power armor, bearing the heraldry of the Chapter. Unlike the other pieces of armor, religiously maintained and protected outside of periods of combat or activity, this specific shoulder pad is worn over the Mantellum by the battle-brothers.

Foederati

The Federated Brothers are humans in the service of the Chapter, although they have not benefited from the genetic enhancements of Battle Brothers.

They are directly descended from Legatus, Chapter Master of the Novadracones.

These are the Servitores (the servitors, created by the Adeptus Mechanicus) and the Servi (the serfs, having renounced the trials of Sententia and Judicatio).

Servitores

The chapter's servants generally come from the prisons of Gamatorius, his moon Septima, or Sancta Lucia (Gamator Secundarius IV).

They are most often those sentenced to death for acts so heinous that this terminal punishment is considered too lenient.

Servi

The Serfs of the Chapter are called Servus (plural: Servi).

These are the Novices who refused the Sententia: they gave up the possibility of becoming battle brothers, at the end of the required passage tests.

The Servi form the vast majority of the children collected during the Messio. This does not harm the Chapter in any way: like all the chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, the Novadracones need human personnel for the daily tasks and the current stewardship specific to their organization.

They are of two types:

  • Laborator (plural: Laboratores): those who work.
  • Auxilium (plural: Auxilia): those who assist.

They are regarded with compassion by the battle-brothers, as reminders of what they fight for: the safeguarding of a fragile and mortal humanity, barely surviving under the benevolent gaze of the Emperor.

Serfs have specific ranks (and colors), almost identical between Laboratores and Auxilia.

  • Tribunus (yellow)
  • Tesserarius (gray)
  • Decanus (red)
  • Simple serf (no color: color of clothing)

These ranks are visible on the Tunica worn by the Laboratores and the uniform worn by the Auxilium.

>>> Laboratores

The Laboratores are the most numerous serfs: they carry out the most humble tasks within the Prioriae (or priories) or on board the Chapter's ships.

They belong to two categories:

  • The Laboratores (simply)
  • The Laboratores ēlēctī

The simple Laboratores are attached to a "Tribune", led by a Frater Tribunus (Brother Tribune).

The Brother Tribunus has the privilege of reading the highly revered Codex Astartes during services and the common meal, bringing together Brother Serfs and Battle Brothers. He directs the Laboratores of a Prioria or a ship. A Tribunus Primus can be appointed for the largest ships (with several Tibuni under his command).

The Tesserarius Brothers are placed under the orders of Brother Tribunus. They possess a Tessera: a tablet containing the orders of the Tribunus for the trade assigned to his team.

Under the orders of the Tesserarius, the Decanus Brothers are responsible for coordinating these efforts of the Laboratores (without rank) in the field. A Frater Decanus Primus can directly assist the Frater Tesserarius.

The ranks of the Laboratores are identifiable by the color of their Cingulum: the cord that joins the robe of their Tunica.

>>> Laboratores Electi

A battle-brother who completes his initiātiō (Sententia et Judicatio) is assigned a personal Laboratores.

Chosen from among the hardest-working and most obedient Laboratores, the chosen Servus is called Laborator Electus (plural: Laboratores Electi).

This one will have the task of helping his battle-brother in all circumstances: messages, stewardship, maintenance of the energy armor.

He wears the Cingulum Duplex, a double white cord, which distinguishes them from other Laboratores, and does not belong to the hierarchy of a Tribunus.

Auxilia

Novadracones Auxilia

>>> Auxillia

The Auxilium is composed of the strongest Servi: they are selected in the months following the "renūntiātiō" (the act of renouncing the Sententia). The "renuntiatores" ("those who have renounced") must then pass several tests: strength, skill, composure, concentration, obedience. Although these tests are nothing compared to the difficult path taken by a future battle brother, few are those among the future Servi who reach the end unscathed.

The best then join the Auxilium.

They wear a uniform, which is completed by a shell armor comparable to that of the Astra Militarum. They also display an insignia reminiscent of the ancient Auxilia of the legions of the first Foundation: a triangle in which appears the white dragon of the Novadracones. In order not to contravene the Codex Astartes, the Auxilium's strength does not exceed that of a simple regiment of the Imperial Guard.

The Auxilium's missions consist of defending the Dominium and the Chapter's fleet. They serve their Macrocannon batteries, defend the walls of the Prioria and obey the deployment orders of the Battle Brothers.

As with the Laboratores, the senior commanding officer is the Tribunus (or the Tribunus Primus aboard the Vultus Ardentis or the Fulminator).

Under his command is the Tesserarius (equipped with their Tessera of commands): he is generally in charge of a macrocannon for example.

The Decanus comes next: he commands a squad of 10 auxilia (a Decanus Primus can assist him).

The ranks of the Auxilium are visible on their Galea (their helmet), their collar and their sleeves - see the chapter "Chapter Appearance".

>>> Liveries

A Servus ("serf") most commonly wears the Tunica and the Capucius.

  • The Tunica consists of a black robe, covered by a blue tabard.
  • The Capucius is a black hood covering the shoulders and displaying the insignia of the Novadracones on the left shoulder and that of the Adeptus Astartes on the right shoulder.

This outfit is common among serfs assigned to the service of the battle-brothers or in stewardship missions.

A Servus officiating as an auxillia will wear equipment similar to some versions worn by Tempestus Scions: black carapace armor, covering a blue Cappa (full outfit). The shoulder pads of the carapace display the insignia of the Adeptus Astartes and the Chapter in the same way as the Capucius.

Servus Descriptio

Bull "De Servo Capitulo" - 173.M42

Centuriae (companies)

Except for their names, the chapter's companies mostly follow the structure provided by the Codex Astartes.

The 1st Company consists entirely of Veteran Space Marines (Evocati).

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th companies are battle companies. They form the main battle force deployed for engagements.

The 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th companies are reserve companies. These are training and reserve formations.

The Reserve Companies also embed additional specialities to provide the Chapter with the resources to fight campaigns. The 6th and 7th Companies undergo extensive training in vehicle piloting, the 8th specialize in storming defenses, and the 9th excel in providing devastating salvos of fire.

The 10th Company consists of Neophytes (called Novus) of the Chapter once they have moved passed the Aspirant (Novicius) stage.

The only divergence concerns Centuria II: it doesn't have strictly battleline squads, to give more importance to assault troops (Assaults intercessors) and fire support projection troops (Suppressors).

A Novus who has received his 21 primaris progenoid implants (Cursus Progenii) becomes a Battle Brother. He then begins the Cursus Honorum: the passage through the 4 reserve companies of the chapter, from Centuria IX to VI. There he will learn the handling of heavy weapons, then contact combat, then precision shooting and finally bikes. Within Centuria VII and VI, he will learn to perfect the battle line doctrine. At the end of the Cursus Honorum, if no battleline company is currently able to recruit, a battle brother will join the reserve company in which he has distinguished himself the most.

Each Centuria includes:

According to the Codex, each Centurio has a title. The latter relates to a role within the chapter. In the context of this mission, he is called "Magister" ("Master").

According to the traditions of the chapter, each Frater Major has a specialization, specific to the company to which he belongs. In the context of this mission, he is called "Praefectus" ("Prefect")

Centuria I

*
*

Centuria I is composed of the best fighters of the Chapter, survivors of its first campaigns. Within it, Honor prevails above all: that of never failing and of looking the enemy straight in the eye.

It counts in its ranks the only active Dreadnougt: Brother Aurius (who fell on Tartella IV, during the Vengeance Campaigns, alongside Tullius, his Centurio)

  • Name: Honnor Legati (The honnor of Legatus)

    • Theodosius - Praefectus Terminatorum (Prefect of Terminators)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 28 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria II

The Centuria II is impetuous and extremely aggressive in combat.

This doctrine of strict close combat was forged by its Centurio, Arsinius (although it is not perfectly "codex" for a battle line company).

  • Name: Unguis Aurea (The Golden Claw)
  • Priory: Corna Magna ("The Great Horn")
  • War cry: "Semper Porro" (No specific war cry)
  • Centurio: Arsinius - Magister Vigiliae (Master of the Watch)

    • Pius Ultimus - Praefectus Terreni (Prefect of the lands)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 40 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria III

The Centuria III is the exemplary "Codex company". It aims to be versatile, mobile, aggressive and resilient: capable of enduring a long siege as well as launching the most furious assault.

The Centuria also takes its mission of maintaining the Chapter's weapons and ammunition very seriously.

  • Name: Centurio III (No specific name)
  • Priory: Vallis Tertiae ("Valley of the Third")
  • War cry: "Prima et Ultima" ("First and last")
  • Centurio: Salvianus - Magister Armamentarii (Master of the Arsenal)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Severinus - Praefectus Armarum (Prefect of weapons)
    • Aggripa - Praefectus Munitionum (Prefect of ammunitions)
  • Centuria complete: YES - 100 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria IV

The Centuria IV is dedicated to the maintenance of the chapter fleet. Its combat doctrine reasons accordingly: it is specialized in ship-to-ship boarding and fleet defense.

It is also deployed primarily by drop pods (alongside the third Centuria)

  • Name: Phoenix Hades Errantis ("the Phoenix of Hades Errantis")
  • Priory: Arx Phoenicis ("Height of the Phoenix")
  • War cry: "Semper Porro" (No specific war cry)
  • Centurio: Lotharius - Magister Classis (Master of the Fleet)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Allectus - Praefectus Transcensuum (Prefect of boardings)
    • Gaïnus - Praefectus Nāvium (Prefect of the ships)
  • Centuria complete: YES - 100 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria V

Centuria V is deployed throughout the systema, guarding its borders.

It operates from both Limes Primus, its priory on Gamatorius, and Gamator Ultima, the solitary planet that orbits Gamator's two stars (there is also talk of a mysterious Gamator Nox). Infiltration and petty warfare are Centuria's weapons of choice, although it is perfectly capable of holding its battle line.

  • Name: Centuria V (No specific name)
  • Priory: Limes Primus ("First Frontier")
    • Gamator Ultima: Orbis Sentinella (sentinel world)
    • Gamator Nox: CLASSIFACTUM
  • War cry: Limes Draconis ! ("Dragon's border")
  • Centurio: Venator - Magister Limitatum (Master of the Marches)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Maximus - Praefectus Projectūs (Prefect of projection)
    • Constantius - Praefectus Protectionis (Prefect of protection)
  • Centuria complete: YES - 100 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria VI

Centuria VI is central to the recruit selection process: it is the one that captures and parks the scitia needed by the Sententia. It also supervises the Judicatio. It supports the indoctrination practiced by the Flaminia (Reclusiam), by replacing membership in the Chapter as support for the "Emperor's Dream for Humanity".

As the finale reserve company in the Cursus Honorum, the Centuria prepares the Intercessors to join the battleline companies. As provided for by the Codex Astartes, it also trains them in the use of bikes and maintains Decuriae dedicated to this weapon.

  • Name: Centuria VI (No specific name)
  • Priory: Vallis Arcanae ("Valley of the Arcane")
  • War cry: "Sententia et Judicatio"
  • Centurio: Marcus - Magister Ritum (Master of the Rites)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Cassius - Praefectus Concursionum (Prefect of the meetings)
    • Licinius - Praefectus Probationum (Prefect of the trials)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 47 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria VII

Centuria VII is responsible for supplying the Chapter with food (essential for the serfs), as well as quartermaster, maintenance parts and promethium for vehicles.

As a reserve company, Centuria VII carries out the mission that Centuria VI has: preparing the Intercessors to join the battleline companies. The Codex Astartes provides that the 7th company can specialize in antigrav vehicles but the chapter is lacking in this type of equipment.

By the bull "Accommodatio ad res" of 197. M42, the company has been reoriented towards precision shooting (more immediately useful for integration into a battleline company). New arrivals start in squads of Eliminators, before integrating the "classic" Decuriae of Intercessors for the first time in their Cursus Honorum.

  • Name: Centuria VII (No specific name)
  • Priory: Vallis Offertorii ("Valley of the offering")
  • War cry: "Mors caelo venit" ("Death comes from the sky")

    • Galba - Praefectus Instructionis (Prefect instructor)
    • Antoninus - Praefectus Annonae (Prefect of the harvest)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 33 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria VIII

The Centuria VIII is the most discreet of the Chapter's companies. It excels in hand-to-hand combat, which brings it closer to the Centuria II in many ways.

The role assigned to its Centurio (Lord Executioner) also orients it towards assassination missions. This is seen as the ideal preparation for reserve battle-brothers in the most effective use of close combat weapons.

  • Name: Uncus silentiosus ("The silent hook")
  • Priory: Morsus Ultimus ("Ultimate Bite")
  • War cry: No war cry (incompatible with the Centuria creed)
  • Centurio: Dordalus - Magister Exsecutoris (Master/lord Executioner)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Arianus Ultimus - Praefectus Fulminis (Prefect of lightning)
    • Tiberius - Praefectus Justitiae (Prefect of Justice)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 60 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria IX

Centuria IX is responsible for the conservation of the most sacred relics of the Chapter, including the Calix Draconum, indispensable to the Sententia.

The figure of the dragon is central to its doctrines of training in the fire support: it is the breath of the dragon purifying the enemies of the Emperor.

  • Name: Centuria IX (No specific name)
  • Priory: Vallis Calicis ("Valley of the Chalice")
  • War cry: "Hostiles Imperatoris moriuntur" ("The enemies of the Emperor die")
  • Centurio: Trachalio - Magister Reliquiarum (Master of Relics)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Quintus - Praefectus Devastatoris (Prefect of devastation)
    • Domitius - Praefectus Conservatoris (Prefect of conservation)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 79 fratres
  • Structure:

Centuria X

Centuria X takes care of the "dragonets", nickname given to the Novi doing their Cursus Progenii: the progressive implantation of the progenoid implants necessary for the transfiguration into battle brothers of the Adeptus Astartes.

From the arrival of the harvested children, every 3 Gamatorian years, until the assignment of the accomplished brother within his first reserve decuria, the Xth is the incubator of the future of the Novadracones.

Its missions are immense: teaching the handling of weapons, hand-to-hand combat, "accompaniment" towards the Sententia and the Judicatio, supervision of the Nidi Primi, as well as the reassignment of future serfs to the Legatus office (which will distribute them within the Chapter).

  • Name: Centuria X (No specific name)
  • Priory: Oculus Draconis ("Dragon Eye")
  • War cry: "Semper Porro" (No specific war cry)
  • Centurio: Gregorius- Magister Tironum (Master of recruits)
  • Fratres majores:
    • Octavius - Praefectus Recognitionis (Prefect of recognition)
    • Sextus Ultimus - Praefectus Instructoris (Prefect of instruction)
  • Centuria complete: NO - 86 fratres and 65 Novi
  • Structure:
    • 7 Decuriae of Novi (scouts)
    • 9 Decuriae of Infiltrators (as a permanent force, as stipulated by the Codex Astertes)

Chapter Fleet

>>> First Chapter Fleet (992.M41)

In 992.M41, following the validation of the Foundation request, the Segmental Fortress of the Imperial Fleet of Bakka, made available to the future Chapter a small fleet :

  • 2 Viper destroyers and their crews (7 500 crew each),
  • 1 Nova frigate (non-codex).

The Nova frigate was disarmed in 996.M41 and anchored in the heart of a mountain range in the southern hemisphere of the planet (which would become Pes Draconis). It became the Chapter's first monastery fortress, while the Nova cannon was detached from the hull so as to make it orientable in all directions.

In 999.M41, during the Thirteenth Black Crusade, a call to arms was issued and relayed by the 2nd company of the Novamarines. Legatus the First answered the call and joined the battle group "Argent Dawn" led by Admiral Catallia At the head of his short fleet of Vipers, he participated in the orbital counterattack against the arch-traitor Abbadon. One of the two destroyers was destroyed, while the second was heavily damaged (Legatus lost an arm during the confrontation).

The Chapter subsequently encountered great difficulties in effectively deploying its battle brothers in its various theaters of operations (defense of Forge World Metalica, the Tartella system and engagement in the Vengeance Campaigns). It was supported by the Novamarines Chapter for over a century.

>>> Second Chapter Fleet (120.M42)

In 120.M42, Bakka agreed to a new endowment, in view of the recognized commitment of the Novadracones in the imperial campaigns. The crews provided were greatly incomplete

  • 1 Dauntless Light Cruiser
  • 2 Cobra Destroyer
  • 4 Sword Frigate
  • 6 System Ships

>>> Third Chapter Fleet (137.M42)

In 137.M42, after the events on Hades Errantis [- CLASSIFACTUM -], the fleet was reorganized one last time:

  • 1 Dauntless Light Cruiser: placed as a Gamatorian planetary defense element ( under civilian command)
  • 6 System Ships: maintained as a Gamatorian planetary defense element (under civilian command)
  • 2 Cobra Destroyer: destroyed
  • 4 Sword Frigate: 2 remaining frigates returned to the Segmentum fleet

Endowment :

  • 1 Battle Barge
  • 1 Strike Cruiser
  • 3 Frigates Gladius

>>> Current status (crew members in 151.M42)

  • Vultus Ardentis - Battle Barge (42 057 crew members)
  • Fulminator - Strike Cruiser (30 298 crew members)
  • Arrogantia - Gladius-class Frigate (19 157 crew members)
  • Ferocia - Gadius-class Frigate (23 668 crew members)
  • Duritia - Gladius-class Frigate (23 431 crew members)

Notable Novadracones

Centuriones

Representation of the Chapter's Centuriōnēs and Legatus II - 145.M42

  • Legatus I (Mortuus Pro Imperatorem - MPI) - First Chapter Master. His identity is obscure, save to the highest authorities of the Chapter, the High Lords of Holly Terra, the Lord Commander of the Imperium, and, of course, the Emperor of Mankind.
  • Legatus II - Current chapter Master
  • Amulius - Librarius and Legatus II's closest adviser
  • Demitrius - Reclusiarch. He fells not listened enough from Legatus II

  • Venator - Centurio of Centuria V. He stayed many years on Tartella IV with his Centuria, after his other brothers departure, to purge the last plague remnants alongside the Novamarines. Seriously wounded, losting his right hand, his was gifted from the Adeptus Mechanicus: a cerebral device saved his damaged brain from Nurgle's "benediction".
  • Marcus - Centurio of Centuria VI. In charge of the Sententia and the Judicatio.
  • Vasilius - Centurio of Centuria VII. Very discret.

>>> Ordo Lucis Redemptricis

Affiliatiō: Adepta Sororitas (Ordo Minor)

Banniere - Ordo Lucis Redemptricis

Descriptio: Originally, the Ordo Divini Redemptoris (Order of the Divine Redeemer) came from the Order of the Valiant Heart of Saint Lucia (dependent on the Convent Sanctorum of Ophelia VII). Its convent was established on Repentia Aeterna, a moon located in the Mayet system (Typhon Sub-sector / Draco Sector / Segmentum Tempestus). At the beginning of M42, the Ordo had no more than 200 sisters.

After the Battle of Hades Errantis in 135.M42, both Missiones sent by the Ordo were martyred. Only 43 Sisters Militant (and 4 Novitiates) remained in the Mayet system.

In 151.M42, by the Bull "Per geminos astra", issued by the Synod Ministra of Ophelia VII (and accepted by the Ecclesiarch Eos Ritira), the Ordo Divini Redemptoris was dissolved, to be refounded under the name of Ordo Lucis Redemptricis (Order of the Redeeming Light).

On the proposal of the Novadracones chapter, it was decided that the convent of the new order would be established on Gamator Secundarius Colonia, 4th planet of the secondary system of Gamator. The latter then took the name of Sancta Lucia.

The new convent of the Ordo is named Repentia Nova.

>>> House N'Dwara - ⴳⴻⵏⵙ ⵏ'ⴷⵡⴰⵔⴰ (in old Gamatorian)

Affiliatiō: Imperial knights

Gens N'Dwara - ⴳⴻⵏⵙ ⵏ'ⴷⵡⴰⵔⴰ - vexillum

Gens N'Dwara - vexillum

Descriptio: House De Portis was once one of the ruling noble Houses of Enderita.

In 127.M42, a plot took away Rollant XI and his wife Jeanne, Lord and Lady of the City Gates. Only their two children Alecia (who turned out to be the mastermind behind her parents' assassination) and his little brother Victorion survived.

Victorion was considered dead until he returned as an Imperial Knight.

He himself chastised his sister and abandoned his inheritance.

In order to preserve such a valuable asset in planetary defense, the High Council of Gamator granted him the autonomous fiefdom of Torrentis.

Affiliatiō: Adeptus Mechanicus

Orchus

Logo of the Orchus Division

Descriptio: Templum Lethenon was established on Septima, the moon of Gamatorius, following the participation of the Novadracones in the wars of liberation of Metalica. The heraldry of the Skitarii is also similar to that of their original Forge World, but in reverse.

The Adeptus Mechanicus was not only motivated by the payment of a debt of honor: the promises offered by an unknown systema and its possible archeotechnological riches must have played a role...

Statio Letus

Affiliatiō: Adeptus Mechanicus

The Statio Letus was established on the surface of Gamator Secundarius Colonia by Templum Lethenon, following the discovery of strange ruins on the planet's ocean floor.

It is said that the fact that it was actually a Necon necropolis... did not particularly displease the tech-priests.

Affiliatiō: Eldars Exodites

In 151.M42, a colony of Eldar Exodite was discovered on Gamatorius, under the surface of the Corpulso volcano, in the Cor Dei region.

Sextus2

Sextus, sixth planet of Gamator Primarius

Centuriae II, III and IV, as well as the Chapter's General Staff, were mobilized, for research, contact and Exterminatus of the threat.

Following an exorcism performed on Centurio Valerius of Centuria IV by Inquisitor Valentinius Meridio, a plot by the xenos was revealed, aiming to manipulate the Chapter through the psychic control of the Master of the Fleet.

Brother Valerius unfortunately did not survive.

Sextus - surface

Centuria V has been roaming the surface of Sextus continuously for years, in pursuit of the Exodites...

After investment without fighting of the xenos' lair, the disappearance of the entire colony was noted, with the exception of their leader, Archon Oranar Galasen. The latter delivered an unknown message to Legatus II, before disappearing in turn.

Brother Amulius, Magister Librarius of the Chapter, managed to identify the psychic presence he had felt upon contact with the xeno, on Sextus, the planet neighboring Gamatorius in the Primarius system. Research has been underway on its surface since then. It is being conducted jointly by Centuria V and the Chapter's Librarium

>>> Necropolis of Akhmutennu

Affiliatiō: Necrons

The existence of a Necron necropolis on Gamator Secundarius Colonia was attested in 127.M42.

The complex rests on the ocean floor of the planet (completely covered in water). It consists of 3 main "palaces", connected to each other by a triple central causeway. At the intersection of these three causeways, there is a 4 temple of more modest appearance, but heavily guarded. 10 small annex complexes seem to be high-power defense stations (called "obelisk temple").

In 147.M.42, an underwater reconnaissance by the VIII Centuria of the Nova Dracones highlighted energy signatures coming from inside the Necropolis. They were interpreted as evidence of a weak active state or the beginning of an awakening phase in progress.

In 151.M.42, a spectrographic analysis of the surroundings of the complex led to the discovery of the Stone of Dhi ("Humiliation", in the Necrontyr language). A Necrontyr glyph indicates the dynasty at the origin of its erection: it corresponds to the Szarekhan dynasty. The stone describes in a fragmentary way the History of the Necropolis and provides information on its name: Akhmutennu.

Tale of the Stone of Dhi, 65 MA before the Emperor:

Stèle de Dhi

The stone of Dhi

  • Akhmutennu (Sancta Lucia) was an Elemental World of the Arotepk Dynasty (perhaps originating from Akator)
  • Weakening of the consequences of the war opposing the Necrontyrs to the Aeldari and the Old Ones.
  • Negotiations initiated by the Arotepk Tetrarch of Akhmutennu, Nefer Ankh Hotep, with the Old Ones. This was an approach towards a separate peace, without the agreement of the Necrontyr Triarchate
  • Hidden objective denounced in the Stone of Dhi: attempt to emancipate the Tetrarch in order to establish himself as an independent Phaeron.
  • Retaliation and conquest by the Dynasty of the Last Silent King Szarekh (The Arotepk Dynasty seems to have made no attempt to support its felonious Tetrarch)
  • Demotion of planetary status: from Elemental World to Auxiliary World (the "Humiliation")
  • Last master of the necropolis mentioned: Sebek Hotep, Dynast (and no longer Tetrarch) of the Arotepk Dynasty and son of the deceased Nefer Ankh Hotep (executed by Szarekh)
  • Sebek Hotep is described as "the one who humbled himself before Szarekh"
  • In the absence of any mention to the contrary on the Stone of Dhi, he seems to have reigned in the name of the Last Silent King until the City was put to sleep.
  • Lady of the necropolis (city sweating the stone): Meten Hont Senet, wife of Sebek Hotep, descendant of the Oruskh Dynasties of Antagonis and Raisa of Tyr.

The latest quantum research on the stone reveals that the power over the three remaining pyramids (the others having been destroyed during the "War of Dhi") was divided as follows:

  • Main pyramid: Sebek Hotep "the Eternal", Dynast of Akhmutennu.
  • Secondary pyramid: Menkeoura "the Guardian", High Lord representing Szarekh .
  • Minor pyramid: Meten Hont Senet "the Silent" - Inscription found on the entrance portico: "(...) Lady of Akhmutennu, the Silent, The Great Patient, She who speaks in the stars, She who commands time" (possibly an Emissary of Eternity)

Confirmation of residual radiation from the so-called main pyramid: active state of the necropolis confirmed.

>>> Septem fratreres Aegrōre

Affiliatiō: Death Guard

Former Dusk Raiders, these 7 brothers belong to the 7th cohort of the 7th Plague Company: "The Chosen Sons of Mortarion". They were corrupted with their primarch in the Warp, on the path between Ynys and Terra. Having arrived on the Throne World, they participated in the siege led by Horus Lupercal, under the command of their genetic father. They watched helplessly as the latter was killed by Jaghatai Khan.

Definitively devoted to Grandfather Nurgle and his holy number seven, they were called the Septemplex (sevenfold).

When they first entered the Garden of Nurgle, the seven brothers became friends with a charming Myphitic Blight-Hauler, named Crocus. He now accompanies them on their "walks" in the material world

For millennia, they roamed the Galaxy in order to honor this allegiance. This crusade in their eyes, wanted and led by the Father of Epidemics, has no strategic logic: the 7 brothers identify a number seven (a place, a person, a date ...) and spread the generosity of Nurgle there. Like the other followers of the God, they do not understand the repugnance they are the object of and the reluctance of mortals to accept the altruistic gifts they carry.

The chance of their wanderings led them to a double system that seems generous in the number seven! It contains a planet rich in humans, located in the seventh position compared to the other planets orbiting its star. This planet has a moon called Septima. This moon has a prison center containing 7 wings of detention. The fourth planet of the secondary system has an expatriate population from this moon, having formed a marine archipelago composed of seven artificial islands... Too many coincidences for the Septemplex: it is certainly a future double flower in the garden of Nurgle.

>>> Circle of Tears

Affiliatiō: Eldars Drukhari

Local legends on Gamatorius mention a group of enemies of Deo Humanitas (probably a reminiscence of the image of the Emperor, after the Systema was lost following the Age of Apostasy). This "Tearful Circle" was first perceived as a superstition among others, at the time of Gamator's reintegration into the Imperial fold.

However, further research by the Librarius of the Novadracones highlighted a more terrestrial reality: several stories, archaeological remains and iconographies found in caves near Enderita, designate Eldar Drukhari. A planet was identified 16 light years from Gamator. This one orbits a white giant which bears the Gamatorian name of Dakron' (the "Tear"). After nearly 50 years of observations (direct and indirect), what caught the attention of the Novadracones is the presence of a singular building on the surface of this ocean planet: a black tower.

Periodically, every 111 orbital cycles of their planet, ships escape from the atmosphere and seem to head towards neighboring systems (after verification inhabited by human populations not claimed by the Imperium and Xeno). The ships in question have recently been identified as light cruisers and Drukhari escort ships. The threat was of course taken very seriously by the Novadracones: this information was transmitted to the Inquisitio, as a prelude to an intervention by the Chapter. The Ordo Xeno informed the Astartes in return of the presence of the planet in their archives.

Its name is Cronushrait IX (or simply Cronushrait) and it is indeed home to a minor Dark Eldar Wych Cult, from the Cult of the Red Grief. It is subject to little surveillance by the authorities of the imperium, targeting only planetary systems that have not been brought into compliance... until Gamator is rediscovered by the first Legatus. The Inquisition acknowledges receipt of this blunder and records the desire of the Novadracones Chapter to put an end to the actions of the Xenos.

Corroborating the words of the ancient Gamatorians, the Wych Cult of Cronushrait appears in the imperial archives under the name of "Cult of Tears". Their prayers will not have been in vain: the Angels of the Emperor will bring them fury and vengeance!

>>> The Corona Magna screamer

Affiliatiō: Freebooter Ork

A mysterious space hulk roams the Corona Magna, between Tertius and Quintus, the two gas giants of the Gamator Primarius system.

This asteroid field hides a planetoid: Gamator Primarius Quartus. It is a prison center for the most dangerous criminals of the systema (or those we wish to forget).

Several reports from the Adeptus Arbites and free traders mention attacks perpetrated by a shapeless ship bristling with spikes. During the arbordages, the radio broadcasts were saturated with guttural screams. These attacks target the supply ships coming from Gamatorius, as well as the refiner ships making the junction with Tertius and Quintus.

Neo Otera 3 - 02.M42 (4)

Neo Otera 3 when it was discovered in 02.M42 (image from the personal archives of Legatus I)

Neo Otera 3 was first recorded in the Imperial archives in 02.M42. This γ-class (gamma class) or civilised world, identified itself under this name during the only exchange between its planetary government (peacefully allying humans and xenos) and a representative of the Imperium. This representative was none other than Legatus, first of the name, shortly after his arrival in the Gamator system.

Legatus transmitted the coordinates of this planet close to the Dominium of the future Novadracones, for Imperial compliance. For an unknown reason, these coordinates never went beyond the limits of the Sector and were not kept by the Novadracones Chapter... since it was not yet founded.

In 132.M42 a psychic anomaly was felt by Conventius, Navigator of the Frigate "Arrogantia". It was later identified as a "shadow in the Warp". Shortly before his death, the Navigator managed to orient the origin of the anomaly: it pointed towards the position of Neo Otera 3 (then unknown to the Chapter).

Neo Otera 3 when rediscovered in 152.M42

In 152.M42, the planet was finally relocated. However, it did not resemble the description given by Legatus (interrogated since then because it became the Dreadnought Corvus):

  • Classification: δ-class (delta class) or Dead world
  • Population: none
  • Supposed cause of the change in nature: Assimilated biomass
  • Supposed origin of the change in nature: Tyrannid invasion

>>> Sub-sector 27 cult (highly suspected)

Affiliatiō: Genestealer Cult - Tyranids

In the underworld of Gamapolis, strange disappearances are reported by the Adeptus Arbites. Shadows with several arms according to some, a strange hairless and pale appearance for others, have been reported in the four corners of the megalopolis.

It is in sub-sector 27 of the Porta Aurea district, in the Lower City of Gamapolis, that the phenomenon seems to be growing the most.

There, despite the Arbitrators' extensive "investigations", each day that passes sees more and more disappearances... sometimes even of Arbitrators themselves.

Image captured by Arbitrator Simo Carius, in sub-sector 27 - Porta Aurea district.
The creature disappears into the shadows after a few seconds.
After a short attempt at pursuit by the Arbitrator, several detonations emanating from Carius' assault rifle are heard, as well as blows and lacerations.
The recording then cuts off. Only Carius' helmet (containing the recording) will be found, several weeks after the encounter.

Recently a strange symbol was found on a piece of cloth in the Vallis Spei sub-sector, not far from Porta Aurea (Gamapolis). A similar graffiti was identified on a wall in Alae Vesperis... on the other side of the city.

Rota 1

the symbol of Vallis Spei

The symbol seems to have a connection to the Cult of the Bladed Cog. This analysis is supported by the mention of the word "Rotaticum" in other places in the underground city. This word means "cog" in High Gothic.

Brother Codicier Martius of the Novadracones Librarium has also speculated that the various gears represent the 8 major districts of Gamapolis (with Porta Aurea at its center). This interpretation is under study and has been forwarded to the Adeptus Arbites.

It becomes more and more evident every day that Gamapolis is infested, and that the disease is gaining ground.

A threat lurks. A hungry threat...
