"Though our brothers in the Iron Hands have forsaken us, calling us blasphemers, we will prove the might of our flesh!"
—Abdes Noor, first Chapter Master of The Neimerel Sons during the Reconquest of Bereha Primus

The Neimerel Sons are a semi-Codex compliant Successor Chapter of the stoic and unforgiving Iron Hands created during the 21st 'Cursed' Founding at the end of M35.

The Neimerel Sons are located on the dusty planet of Bereha in a cluster surrounding the ancient warp storm known as the Maelstrom. They were founded in an attempt to combine the ruthless effectiveness of the Iron Hands with a more practical skillset such as siege warfare. Early on in their chapter's history they discovered a document known as the Neimerel Scrolls. They adopted the teaching of the Neimerel Scrolls which put them at odds with their progenitor chapter.

There was a major reduction in the chapter's numbers after the first Chief Librarian Mihrbandak Yanai disappeared along with the second, fifth, and eighth companies while pursuing a chaos warband that had attacked Bereha into the Maelstrom. The Neimerel Sons went on a self imposed penitent crusade to prove their devotion after the lost companies reemerged as the chaos warband called The Brotherhood of Flesh.

After the penitent crusade the chapter was reduced to roughly three effective companies of battle brothers. This led to the practice of leaving one company in their Fortress-Monastery of Eber-Nari in order to secure the future of the chapter in case of disaster.

For the majority of the chapter's existence they have been fighting against the forces of chaos emerging from the Maelstrom warp rift. Recently after the emergence of the Cicatrix Maledictum the Chapter has been beset by the Brotherhood of Flesh leading an invasion of their homeworld of Bereha. The Brotherhood was barely beaten back by the combined forces of the Neimerel Sons and the local Planetary Defense Force, coordinated by the former Librarian turned Praetor Ahiqar Tomek after the previous Praetor was grievously wounded and interred in a Contemptor Dreadnought.

Shortly after the siege the chapter received Primaris Marine reinforcements via the Emperor's Torchbearers. After the reception of the Primaris reinforcements most of the surviving Firstborn Astartes opted to attempt to cross the Rubicon Primaris which led to the majority of remaining Firstborn Marines dying or becoming Primaris. As of the current point in the timeline they are around the strength of a full chapter.

Chapter Home World

The chapter's home world is the planet of Bereha. The planet is located in the Areema system in Segmentum Ultima. The planet is a mix of dusty red deserts similar to those of Mars and small stretches of savannahs that dot the planet. The planet became the home of the Neimerel Sons after the planet's governor as well as a portion of the nobility became cultists of Khorne. After dealing with the governor and restructuring the nobility the chapter constructed their Fortress Monastery outside the capital.

Fortress-Monastery

The main citadel of the Neimerel Sons is the mountain fortress of Eber-Nari. The fortress is located in a mountain range outside of Bereha's capital of Nunahveh. The majority of the fortress is subterranean with the chapter's facilities are spread out under the mountain range with the Reclusium being at the lowest depths.

Eber-Nari's location is due to the circumstances of which the chapter claimed Bereha as their own, with the fortress being constructed to keep watch for corruption within the capital. The most prominent feature of the fortress is its mighty walls which have withstood assaults from rebellious guardsman, the Chaos warband Brotherhood of Flesh, and even an Ork invasion led by the warboss Blacktoof Skulldrinka.

Combat Doctrine

The Neimerel Sons are highly proficient in siege warfare where they use massive amounts of vehicles and artillery in order to weaken the enemy fortress. Before this stage of the siege even begins they send in squads of Infiltrators to weaken key points in the besieged area's defense. The chapter also makes use of Reiver squadrons to terrorize the enemy, often sending them in the middle of the night to sow paranoia and unrest among the defenders. All of this happens before squadrons of Intercessors storm the area and crush the remaining enemy with brutal efficiency.

Chapter Culture & Beliefs

While they will not admit it the Neimerel Sons are very similar in doctrine to their progenitor chapter with a few key differences. The chapter views the Neimerel Scrolls, supposedly written by Ferrus Manus himself, much like an Ecclesiarch would treat the Lectitio Divinitatus. They take Manus' wish to rid himself of the living metal surrounding his hands to mean that any non-organic augmentation is weakness. Cybernetic implants and replacements are looked upon with disgust and are commonly used as a punishment for failure until they have proved they are worthy enough to have said machinery exchanged for biological replacements.

In keeping with another similarity to their parent chapter the Neimerel Sons have a structure similar to the clans of Medusa. Companies are, for the most part, separated between the noble houses they were originally from and those houses' vassals. There are a few exceptions to this. The first are the Primaris reinforcements they received who were divvied up between the companies upon their reception. The second is the First Company which is made up of the most skilled astartes taken from each of the other companies as the First Company is the designated company of any marines taken from the ruling family. Always included in the number is the Chapter Master, the Chief Librarian, and their respective Honor Guard consisting of Firstborn Astartes in relic Mark III power armor.

As is somewhat common in the Adeptus Astartes the Neimerel Sons view their primarch Ferrus Manus in a nigh-religious manner. This obsession has also led to rather unorthodox beliefs and conspiracies permeating the chapter. One of the most ludicrous of these is that it was Sanguinius who died on Istvaan V and Ferrus Manus who died upon the Vengeful Spirit. They cite that this was an attempt by various Imperial organizations to discredit their Primarch and exaggerate the deeds and importance of the Blood Angels legion and their Primarch. They say this is because it is more convenient to permeate the lie of the Emperor's Great Angel rather than the cold truth that Ferrus Manus represents.

Chapter Recruitment

The Neimerel Sons recruit mainly from the nobility of Bereha due to the Berehan nobility's focus on breeding hardy families they provide the most genetically sound recruits. This is not a one-sided arrangement as in exchange the chapter occasionally provides specialized training to the local Planetary Defense Force as well as a nominal bodyguard to the ruling planetary governor. The chapter also pulls recruits from the families of the planet's guardsmen regiment where a guardsman was shown to be particularly skilled or durable.

The only practice that differs greatly from the training neophytes from other chapters might experience is in how they are prepared mentally trained. Throughout the neophyte's training they are conditioned to raise their mental tolerance. This is in order to survive their final trial before being administered as a full battle brother.

In a cave near their Fortress-Monastery of Eber-Nari neophytes facing the last of their trials are sent and sealed inside for two weeks. During these two weeks the neophyte is forced to subsist entirely off of a hallucinogenic plant found in the vast deserts of Bereha. During this time the marines overseeing the trial will introduce carefully selected visual stimuli in order to cause vivid hallucinations that test the limit of the neophyte's psyche. What images are provoked depends on the suspected role the neophyte might have in the future. For example, a neophyte being recruited to the Librarius might be shown visions of daemons tempting them with promises of power and glory, while a neophyte expected to eventually become an apothecary might see other neophytes they were close with dying before the neophyte is able to aid them. Neophytes that survive this trial with their mind intact are inducted as a full Battle-Brother of the chapter.

Chapter Gene-Seed

There are several unique traits of the Neimerel Sons chapter's gene-seed. The most noticeable of these is their unique appearance; orange skin, red pupils, and fire-like hair. While many believe that this is the extent of the chapter's mutations that is secretly not the case. There have been occasions where, in the service of the Deathwatch, members of the chapter have become near psychotic, causing them to attack whatever is near them before finally savaging themselves. Within the chapter this event is known as The Shattering. The Shattering only occurs during moments of extreme emotion for the victim, such as the death of a close friend, or a heated battle. It does not have any recordable cause, simply occurring to many of the less disciplined battle brothers of the chapter. When the chapter first experienced this they consulted the Iron Hands chapter, but were met with replies it is because they were disobeying the wishes of Ferrus Manus by not regulating their emotions, and were advised to do so. This leads the members of the chapter to have to tread a careful line between regulating their emotions, and losing them altogether. Due to this condition the chapter is extremely paranoid about potential investigations of their gene-seed, though it is unknown if this very paranoia is a result of their gene-seed as well.

It has been long suspected that the Mechanicus severely altered the gene-seed of the Neimerel Sons due to the severe malfunction of the Melanochrome organ in the brothers of the chapter. Beyond that, when their gene-seed was examined it was determined that it was not entirely that of the Iron Hands. Though the chapter was not actually told many of the chapter's members have come up with their own explanations. There are some in the chapter that theorize they possibly have some relation to either the Salamanders or the Raven Guard due to the malfunction of the Melanochrome organ. A large portion of the chapter believes it may be that of the Imperial Fists chapter, due to the chapter's skill shown in fortifying the planet of Bereha. In hushed whispers though, some throughout the chapter believe it is that of the heretical Iron Warriors due to their skill at siege warfare, though this is not discussed openly, if at all due to the implications it would have on the future of the chapter.

Chapter Appearance

Chapter Colours

The Neimerel Sons bear the stark, utilitarian colours that reflect their Iron Hands lineage and unyielding war doctrine. Their power armour is primarily rendered in a cold, metallic gunmetal grey, subtly reminiscent of unpolished steel. This austere hue symbolises both their mechanical heritage and their pragmatic, unadorned approach to war. The armour plating is accented by deep black on the helm, shoulder pauldrons, gauntlets, and backpack unit, providing a sharp, industrial contrast to the silver-grey of their main panelling.

Each pauldron is bordered by metallic trim, engraved and decorated with subtle Mechanicum-inspired motifs—gears, cogs, and rivet patterns—honouring their close spiritual and practical ties to the Omnissiah. The right pauldron often bears individual squad, company, or specialist markings in accordance with Codex tradition, though the Chapter is only semi-compliant in its heraldic practices.

In addition to the primary heraldry, the Neimerel Sons employ clear and functional unit markings. The left knee plate commonly bears unique tactical or company symbols, often in black, while the right knee frequently carries personal or squad-specific insignia. In the provided depiction, the left greave carries an unfamiliar sigil—possibly a localised Chapter rune or an honour marking—while the right greave features a solid black upward arrow, denoting tactical squad designation in accordance to the Codex.

Helmets are typically black, though veterans and certain officers may bear silver or red detailing. Eye lenses are a deep crimson, a practical modification for enhanced low-light targeting that has also become a signature visual trait of the Chapter. Many battle-brothers incorporate small bionic augmentations or additional sensor optics into their helms, furthering their already significant cybernetic integration.

Chapter Badge

The Neimerel Sons Chapter badge consists of a broad, white cogwheel symbol whose teeth frame the entire design. This cog, the universal symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus, represents the Chapter's ties to their progenitor's deep-seated reverence for the Omnissiah and their embrace of the machine as both creed and weapon. However, unlike their genetic forebears, they do not share these same beliefs, yet still maintain this symbol in honour of their progenitors.

At the heart of the cog rests a stylised white glyph that takes the unmistakable form of the ancient Grecian symbol of Hephaestus - the god of smithing, fire, and the forge in pre-Imperial Terran mythology. This is a deliberate choice by the Neimerel Sons, signifying their role as master forgers of war, armourers of their own fate, and unyielding smiths of destruction. In their Chapter lore, Hephaestus is viewed as a proto-Omnissian figure - a shadowed reflection of the Machine God glimpsed in mankind's earliest age.

Often the Neimeral Sons will decorate their shoulder pauldrons with subtle but distinctive embellishment in the form of circuit-line motifs, rendered in thing white tracery. These fine, almost schematic lines evoke the inner workings of machine systems and the flow of data, reinforcing the Chapter's obsession with technological integration and their ever-advancing symbiosis between flesh and machine. The entire emblem is bordered by a stylised shoulder guard frame of white, itself studded and riveted, echoing the martial precision of the Chapter's wargear.
