The Mundano Sub-Sector is an Imperium sub-sector comprised of several systems, having multiple inhabited planets. It's both the house and watched over by the members of the Astartes Chapters of the Nova Knights and the Grey Hounds. Its borders and planets are protected by the Mundano Guard who come from the many inhabited worlds in the sub-sector. Its capital is the planet Mundano, a moderately industrialized world that supplies the sub-system with food, manufactured goods and manpower.
History[]
The Mundano Sub-Sector was created in late-M32 to facilitate the administration of the growing population region and to watch over internal threats. Far from the administrative centers of the Segmentum Ultima and its Sector, and thanks to its less than ideal location of the cluster of planets on the region made it hard to control it and the local disputes between the noble families. Its creation was seen as essential to keep both control over the region and stop any in-fighting.
Imperial forces aided by chapters of the Adeptus Astartes were sent to deal with the many revolts who rose and to replace planetary governors, placing in control of the Sub-Sector noble families more favorable towards the Imperium. Soon after its establishment, the Mundano Guard was created to both defend it and to aid in the protection of nearby regions. A chapter of Adeptus Astartes, the Myrmecia Warriors, would later be created to aid in the defence of the region and to keep order.
Following the increasing numbers of ork attacks in Mundano Sub-Sector and its surrounding areas, the nearly anihillation of the Myrmecia Warriors forces, and their down fall, led to another chapter of Adeptus Astartes, this time a successor chapter of the Ultramarines, being created to replace them during mid-M35, the Nova Knights. Another chapter would be created in M36 to aid in keeping control over the region, the Grey Hounds.
Notable Campaings[]
- First War for the Mundano Sub-Sector (early-M35) - The first real conflict faced by the Mundano Sub-Sector, the First War for the Mundano Sub-Sector was a series of battles over its many planets who found themselves in route of a massive Ork WAAAGH! led by the warboss Makka Dakka. Taken by surprise, the slow response and stuborness of the administration of the Sub-Sector led to loss of uncountable civilians, the death of millions of Mundano Guardsman and the crippling of a chapter of the Adeptus Astartes who resided in the region, the Myrmecia Warriors.
- Darmenian Conflict (early-M35) - following their near annihilation, the Myrmecia Warriors new Chapter Master, Lord Darmenian Cruxi demanded compensation from the Sectorial Administration, who refused. Moved by indignation and grief over the loss of his brothers, the Myrmecia Warriors declared war against the Sectorial Administration who in turn, called for help dealing with these rogue Astartes. In non disclosed events, the Myrmecia Warriors would finally find their fate in the hands of their fellow brothers, who initiated a civil war within the chapter, reducing their numbers bellow 100, killing Lord Darmenian and later on resurfacing, only to be disbanded due to their low numbers.
- Second War for the Mundano Sub-Sector (012-014.M37) - The rising numbers of orks and the overstretching both of the Mundano Guard and Nova Knights in dealing with the many threats encroaching in the Sub-Sector, let to the Second War for the Mundano Sub-Sector, were the than assumed dead warboss Makka Dakka rose again. The surprise attack, the slow reaction and stubbornness of the administration of the Sub-Sector almost led to the events of the First War for the Mundano to repeat themselves were not for the wildcard, the recently created Grey Hounds, who, accompanied by 2 companies of the White Scars arrived shortly after. During the events the Grey Hounds managed to fool the orks and aided by the combined forces of the White Scars and Nova Knights, managed to defeat once again Makka Dakka and protect the Mundano.
- Third War for the Mundano Sub-Sector (942.M41) - During M41, members of the Grey Hounds chapter of Adeptus Astartes managed to learn of an encroaching WAAAGH! approaching the Sub-Sector. Organizing the defences on the region, the Grey Hounds combined forces with the Mundano Guard, the Nova Knights and the Angels Vengeful, managing to protect the Sub-Sector.

This war would end destabilizing the world's tectonic plaques, subsequently killing its fauna and flora, and making its surviving human population starve out. Now the planet is devoid of life and its landscape is filled with radioactive sand dunes. The temperatures of the planet vary drastically, fluctuating between 70ºC during the day and -40ºC during the night.

The small population is always watched by the members of Grey Hounds and the chapter is actively maintaining it's decaying ecosystem.
Mundano []

With a population of over a little under 12.000.000.000 inhabitants, Mundano is the Capital of the Sub-Sector named after it. It holds power over all planets under jurisdiction over their food production and distribution, technological production capabilities of their foundries - only surpassed by distant Forge or Hive worlds - and by the control of the Mundano Guard who both protects and maintains a close eye on any signs of treachery against the noble families of Mundano. The planet trades with nearby planets trading raw resources and food. It also offers manpower towards the Mundano Guard, those who then are banished and forbitten to ever return to the planet, avoiding this way "technologically motivated rebellions."
System Military[]
Found within the Mundano Sub Sector like many other imperial sub sectors are those of Astra Militarum regiments and chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. Within the borders of the sub sectors sits only a few planets with a large enough population and productive capability to annually ship out large amounts of it's guard, while the remaining planets ship out smaller forces or contribute with other resources. The major Military presences on the sector are:
- Mundano Guard - with it's headquarters localized in Mundano, the Mundano Guard is the default Sub Sector's guard. Hailing from the from the many inhabited worlds present Sub Sector, they consist in the majority of the Sub Sector's Imperial Guard. Equipped for a variety or roles, the average guardsman is expected to fight in a scorching desert environment during the morning and in a freezing cold snowy environment in the afternoon, only to resume his duties in the night watching over a city and it's citizens.
- Grey Hounds - based on the planet of Udivar, the Grey Hounds are responsible for undermining the operations of orks in the segmentun and to respond quickly to incoming threats on the sector. Sons of the Warhawk, they share their taste for speed and for a good battle. They also utilize the world of Monake for training of their brothers and have kept it under their control since their creation, maintaining a close eye on any visitors just as their homeworld. The Chapter also is rumored to have close ties to some branches of the Inquisition, but those claims haven't been confirmed.
- Nova Knights - based on the planet of Orpheus, the Nova Knights are an stationary force, used to protect the sector from any internal or external threats. It's duties usually take them to interact directly with their neighbor Chapter, the Grey Hounds, to whom they have a good relation. Descendants of the Ultramarines, they follow the Codex Astartes closely with their interpretations, that too often are based on the feudal culture of their homeworld.
