The Legio Astros, known commonly as the 'Astral Legion', are a relatively small Titan Legion of the Collegia Titanica that are settled in the forge world of Erbullen in the Laanah Sector, located in the border of the Segmentem Pacificus and the Segmentum Obscurus.

They are known for the wide use of artillery warfare, despising titan close combat, wich they see as unnecessary risks to their glorious machines of death.

Most times, they will leave threats to be solved by Erbullen's knightly, House Weufer. This is not only to safeguard the gigantic warmachines, but also because they believe nothing but another titan would be a worthy opponent. Very few times in history have the Astral Legion fought an every that was not a traitor or xenos titan, and only it happened when their homeworld itself or a STC fragment was threatened.

Legio History

The Legio Astros was founded sometime during M38, after the conquest of the Laanah Sector by imperial forces and the settlement of the planet Erbullen by the cult mechanicus. The world was favored for its vast deposits of rare metals and the relatively small distance of the system's star, which could provide the energy required for mass production.

Over the centuries that followed the foundation of the legion, the primary focus of this collegia was to bolster its numbers, as they were considered small even for scout relying legions, which definately was not the Astral Legion's case. After much effort and the retrieving of a rare STC fragment containing the schematics to build several powerful god-machines, including the powerful and feared Warlord-class titan, this legion rapidly grew in power and respect, reaching the firepower expected of the oldest and most well-known orders.

A tragedy, however, struck the Legio when, in 639 of the 40th millennium, a warband of chaos space marines known as the Adamantine Priests fell upon the planet. Besides plundering several valuable resources, the heretics managed to destroy the STC, rendering the titanic order unable to build more of their greatest weapons.

Now, the legion employs mainly the smaller Warhound-class titans when called forth to military duty, utilizing its greatest assets only in the direst of situations. They hope that, one day, another STC fragment shall be uncovered, and the collegia's glorious past shall be restored.

Legio Home World

The Astral Legion is located in the planet of Erbullen, a forge-world in the border between the Segmentun Pacificus and Obscurus. The strategic production site was chosen by the cult mechanicus for its rich deposits of rare materials.

The planet rapidly specialized in the construction of plasma related technology, from small plasma pistols employed by imperial infantry and astartes to the massive plasma canons of titans and Imperial battleships.

In addition to the titan legion, Erbullen also possess its own knightly house, House Weufer, whose members engage the threats to the forge-world and neighboring planets that are beneath the Legio Astros' concerns.

Legio Organisation

The Legio Astros follows the same division of the rest of the Collegia Titanica, that is, their forces are divided in four main divisios, those being:

  • The Divisio Militaris, responsible for the overseeing of the titans themselves and planning where thir forces are necessary.
  • The Divisio Mandati, responsible for the transport ships of the titans and travelling beyond imperial space to bring the pax imperia to isolated worlds.
  • The Divisio Telepathica, responsible for choosing potential titan princeps and operating the almost never seen psi-titans.
  • The Divisio Investigatus, responsible for researching new technologies to improve the titans and trying to find any clue that may lead to a STC fragment.

Notable God-Engines

  • Impossible Ravage- The only remaining Warmonger-class Titan of the legion, this massive war-machine is a sight to behold in the battlefield, making fire rain in the enemy with the fury of the Imperium. It stays stationed in Erbullen, defending the planet like a bastion of the Emperor.
  • Arbiter's Doom- This Warlord-class Titan is one of the few in the legion to possess a close combat weapon (in its case, an Arioch Lightning Claw asset). This god-machine is used primarily to hold the line against enemy forces, especially other titans, while the other legion's titans bombard the opposition's rearguard and devastate their numbers.
  • Emperor's Light- This Warlord-class Titan was the only of its kind sent to fight in a relatively small campaign alongside a squad of Warhound-class titans against a warband of the treacherous Thousand Sons in 047.M41. The skirmish proved to be a trap, for the heretics had their own Warplord-class titan, the Eye's Wrath. the imperial titan was destroyed during the fight, for it could not adapt to the rapid teleportation capability of the enemy. That was not the last time Erbullen's forces traded blows with the titanic servant of Tzeentch.

Notable Personnel

Maximilian Enteras - princep of the Arbiter's Doom, has fought many battles alongside its god-machine.

Todelos Eo - Master of the Divisio Militaris of the Astral Legion, he is a mastermind tactician, yet too slow to go make war, for he valors the well-being of the machines and the legion's glory above all-else.
