The Kin Serpents are a loyalist Space Marine Chapter descending from the Blood Angels, created as a successor of the Triton Lizards.
Chapter History
Formed after the Battle of Mantades and the disappearance of their testators into the Warp, the relatively young (and inexperienced) Kin Serpents had a difficult beginning. Born from the remnants of the surviving Sons of Sanguinius company and practically launched at full strength without completing their training, they were quickly reduced to near-annihilation during their first clash with the greenskins.
Miraculously saved by the Salamanders and placed under their care on their homeworld for rehabilitation, after several years spent on replenishing and concluding military matters, the Kin Serpents were finally ready to face the enemies of the Imperium and the horrors of the galaxy.
Notable Events
- Massacre at Talos – Chapter first known campaign and the darkest prologue in its history. Shortly after reaching a thousand Astartes, the Kin Serpents were immediately dispatched in their entirety to fight Zuul the Backbreaker ork Waaagh!, who plagued the Talos system. The entire campaign ended in complete failure, bringing the Chapter to the brink of extinction. If it weren't for the Salamanders, it would have long ago become a career achievement for the ambitious Mek Warboss and his "Private Army."
- Defense of Triton – During one of Abaddon's Black Crusades, Kin Serpents' home was attacked by the forces of Chaos led by a band of Chaos Space Marines called the Prism of Fate. The conflict ends in a Loyalist victory, but the Chapter loses its Chapter Master.
- Avenging the Lost – Kin Serpents are summoned by Inquisitor [ENTRY REMOVED] to once again fight Zuul's orcs, during which the truth about Massacre at Talos is revealed. The conflict isn't even halfway through when Kin Serpents learn that the Emperor's loyal fanatic and veteran is the very person who forced the fledgling chapter to embark on a suicidal campaign. With his storyline concluded, Kin Serpents renew their fight against the greenskins with even greater determination than before, inflicting massive losses and driving them from the battlefield entirely.
Chapter Homeworld
Kin Serpents homeworld is the desert planet Triton, former home to the Triton Lizards. Although plagued by sandstorms and vast deserts, it is an ideal place to attract potential recruits from among the population hardened by its harsh conditions, as well as visitors from other planets.
Fortress-Monastery
- Rummage Fortress - Built from a pre-Horus Heresy battle barge wrecked millennia ago on Triton, this mighty stronghold of the Kin Serpents is a colossal structure half buried beneath the desert planet's sands. It is within its subterranean complex that the Tritonian Astartes' headquarters lie, protecting their Chapter from all dangers, just as it did with its original owners, the Triton Lizards. While the upper level is vulnerable to attack, invaders must be aware that the Emperor's warriors within are well-entrenched in the structure's vast corridors and chambers, and could burst forth like a swarm of angry wasps if the outer first line of defense collapses.
Chapter Organisation
Like most Chapters, the Kin Serpents follow the Codex Astartes and carry out crusades in the Emperor's name, though infrequently and in accordance with Imperial directives. Following the defeat of the Orks on Talos and the deaths of almost all their Battle-Brothers, they have made it a point of honor to settle scores with them, conducting extensive reconnaissance across the galaxy and utilizing external intelligence networks to find potential leads that could lead the Astartes to them. When such a lead arises, they abandon the current campaign to later meet with criticism from many Imperial organizations and their cousins from other Chapters, though the latters are still capable of showing understanding, given their past experiences.
However, in some cases—if the situation truly demands it—they are willing to temporarily abandon their thirst for vengeance and continue their current warfare, so as not to damage their reputation or incur the wrath of the Inquisition.

Chapter Beliefs
Chapter Gene-Seed
Speaking of flaws, the biological origins of the Kin Serpents must be mentioned first and foremost. As befits (almost) every descendant of the Legion who first experienced the death of their Primarch and genetic father, the Kin Serpents are constantly haunted by the inherited consequences of this terrible event: the curses of the Black Rage and the Red Thirst. Interestingly, while the descent into madness is inevitable due to the former, it develops exceptionally slowly for the Kin Serpents. The Red Thirst, on the other hand, is quite different; it manifests almost immediately, though only when they encounter someone or something they hold a particular grudge against.
No one knows exactly why this happens, but it is suspected that the trauma of the Chapter's first failed campaign may be the cause.
Genetic Flaws
Combat Doctrine
Since the events of Talos, the Kin Serpents have taken any conflict currently taking place in the galaxy very seriously. While each member has received full training and possesses the necessary knowledge of a combat-ready Space Marine, they maintain an irritating caution on the battlefield, though not to the same extent as when encountering the orks, whom they fight seriously, throwing everything they have against them, often forgetting formalities and common sense.
Whether this behavior stems from a deep-seeded hatred of these xenos or an inherited genetic flaw in their gene-seed remains unknown, but it's best not to be near them when the anger-driven Kin Serpents begin to advance on their eternal enemy.
Chapter Heroes
- Julius Caesar II (LIA) – Former first Chapter Master, who was sent back in time to ancient Terra by the actions of the Chaos Sorcerers duo Zun and Nal of the Prisms of Fate during Defense of Triton. Formerly known as Cezar, Captain of the Sons of Sanguinius 5th Company.
- Emmanuel Radariel – Current Chapter Master, formerly serving as Captain of the Kin Serpents 2nd Company. Before his election, he was a close friend and advisor to Julius Caesar II.
- Apollinaire Seigneurial - Supreme Librarian and Sage of Fangs of the Kin Serpents Chapter. He serves as an advisor to Chapter Master Emmanuel Radariel.
Chapter Fleet
The Kin Serpents fleet is no different in size from other Space Marine fleets. However, they often (especially when hunting Orks) split it into smaller groups to explore several systems at once or arrive at a location designated by the Imperium. This allows them to calm their obsession with the green xenos while simultaneously fulfilling their duties as loyal servants of the Emperor.
However, as with every Adeptus Astartes organisation, they have specialized, mobile units adapted to travel and fight in space.
- Ultor, Bane of Xenos – Kin Serpents Battle Barge, named after the mortal warrior who defeated the giant serpent Triton the Devourer, serves as both flagship and guardian angel of the desert Astartes. It is the only ship to survive Massacre at Talos and a testament to the battle-forged might of the Kin Serpents. During its service, it single-handedly destroyed many of the Imperium's most dangerous foes.
- Ventress - Kin Serpents Vanguard Class Light Cruiser and the second most famous of the Chapter's ships. Built after Massacre at Talos, the Ventress moves like a venomous viper, ready to strike a deadly blow at an unsuspecting foe at the most unexpected moment. The Kin Serpents also use her as the main command unit when dividing their fleet.
Chapter Relics
- Caesar's Blade - An ancient Power Sword and powerful Chapter relic used of the Sons of Sanguinius 5th company Cezar (later known as Julius Caesar II) during numerous bloody conflicts such as the Davon Crisis and Atron's Betrayal. Now wielded by Kin Serpents Chapter Master Emmanuel Radariel, the weapon still sheds blood of the Imperium's enemies to this day, capable of piercing even the strongest armor.
Chapter Appearance
Chapter Colours
The Kin Serpents wear light beige power armor with a silver Aquila or Imperialis on the chest plate. The visors and helmet lenses are dark gray.
Like their ancestors, the Kin Serpents also utilize the same unique blooddrop heraldry to denote their company number, which is located on the right shoulder board.
Chapter Badge
The Chapter's badge is the white head of a triton serpent, from whose open mouth flows a single drop of blood centered on it, with a black stain symbolizing their dark heritage.
Relations
Allies
- Sons of Sanguinius - Initially, the Sons of Sanguinius viewed the chapter formed from the remnants of their 5th Company with distrust and contempt for the Imperium's decision to create them. Over time, however, they began to look upon the Kin Serpents with favor, showing compassion for the losses suffered during their first campaign. Today, the Sons of Sanguinius, despite their earlier reluctance, are unspeakably proud of their successors' achievements and eagerly collaborate with them, sharing their experience and common interests when the opportunity arises.
- Triton Lizards - The Triton Lizards were the predecessors of the Kin Serpents. Though they never met them, they inherited their homeworld from them when they vanished into the Warp in pursuit of a renegade space marine chapter called the Flawless Feathers.
- Salamanders - The Salamanders are great allies and friends of the Kin Serpents, having been with them since their founding. They were the ones who took responsibility for rebuilding their chapter and helped them grow into a force to be reckoned with in their darkest hour. Both chapters are on such good terms that the Kin Serpents trusts Salamanders enough to allow them to execute them if their curses were to cause them to lose complete control.
Enemies
- Zuul's Private Army – Led by the Mek Warboss Zuul the Backbreaker, this exceptionally cunning greenskin clan with endless imagination for creating deathly weapons has become Kin Serpents number one enemy since Massacre at Talos. Ironically, those hated xenos remains in a perpetual checkmate with them in a "win-lose-win" system where every battle ends in a draw for both sides over time.
- Prism of Fate - The Prism of Fate are the second arch-enemy of the Kin Serpents, primarily due to their assault on Triton, where, during a life-or-death struggle at the Fortress-Monastery, Chapter Master Julius Caesar II mortally wounded one of Chaos warband leaders and was sent back in time by the other. Since then, Kin Serpents spare no expense to utterly destroy this group of Tzeentch followers.
- Flawless Feathers - The Kin Serpents are aware of this Renegade Chapter of Space Marines and the fact that they would never have risen if it wasn't for their rebellion, which was once a kind of mockery used by fraternal Chapters to curb their murderous drive to wipe out every ork in the galaxy. Nevertheless, the Kin Serpents remain hostile to the Flawless Feathers and patiently await the day when they can punish them for their betrayal.
