The Kilusha Incident was a lamentable campaign conducted by the Winged Legion Space Marine Chapter early in their Chapter history, occurring some time at the end of the 35th Millennium.
History[]
The Winged Legion Chapter's next siting occurred during the humiliation at Kilusha, where 2 companies where almost wiped out completely due to arrogance of Iclassio as he stubbornly refused to change the tactics he was using while fighting on open terrain against a heavily fortified bunker on a cliff face which wasn't suited to the chapters style of warfare at the time. Squad after squad was sent out to try and find some weakness in the defences, but was unsuccessful and had to fall back. Iclassio decided to bombard the bunker from orbit in hopes of softening it up and sending heavy armour forward like land raiders with infantry support and finally cleared the bunker.
Iclassios Verdict[]
Afterwards, the chapter conducted an internal investigation into Iclassio's actions and, after a week of deliberation, decided he was to take part in a one-man penitence crusade for a century to atone for the unnecessary losses he caused to his fellow battle-brothers. This decision was taken by the tricounte, who had been formed only to choose Iclassios' punishment. They condemned him to go to the eye of terror and thus personally escorted him. From then on, they handled most internal chapter affairs and disputes between the Winged Legion and other chapters.
After the Iclassio verdict, the tricounte decided to name 5th Captain Cassium Canorum as the new Winged Lord in Iclassios stead, as they push forward against the Nova Terra coalition forces.
A New Dawn[]
With Cassium made the new Winged Lord of the chapter as he was deemed fit for leadership duties and had a sensible head on his shoulders, he decided on splitting the battle companies up and mixed squads for more organisation depth. This was done in order that another Kilusha incident wouldn't happen for a long time, or for as long as he was in command of the chapter.
After restructuring the chapter the Winged Legion went on a rampage clearing planet after planet in their wake, leaving little survivors in the wake of their bloodshed. Eventually, no planets would resist them if they heard they were arriving such was their blood shed and brutality. Just before reaching Nova Terra itself the chapter was called away to help protect the worlds of Velstrum, Nostrum and Oferum 3 from a chaos raiding party led by a Khorne chosen champion called Razneath the Bloodfiend and his warband, the Bloodied Eyes, in the Uhulis Sector from its destruction.
