The Plague-Forge of Inflammax is located in the western Segmentum Pacificus near the galactic rim. This facility is the largest complex on the Chaos-controlled Forge World of Trakzis which was recently invaded by the small Death Guard Vectorium known as The Blightborn. Inflammax took on its current name to reflect its new allegiance. Trakzis is slowly becoming a Plague World as the Ferric Blight begins to spread unchecked.
The city-state of Inflammax is named for its capital forge-temple which is ruled by Hosch Cambror on behalf of Bardorax the Exile. In return for The Blightborn collecting slaves, test subjects and other raw materials to support his production and testing facilities as well as providing it with protection, Cambror has agreed to provide them with war materiel.
History
The hell-forges of Trakzis were founded in Segmentum Pacificus in M37 and have traded with numerous Heretic Astartes warbands since before the Night of a Thousand Rebellions began.
The Dark Mechanicum installed ground defences early in the planet's settlement to deal with the highly aggressive indigenous lifeforms who frequently intruded on their facilities and disrupted operations. This also applied to the native fauna.
Now that the planetary coalition is fractured, the main forge-state has been renamed Inflammax and has become a hive of tortured machinery. Every day, the Ferric Blight spreads closer and closer to the other forges. A Chaos Space Marine force of unknown size is now trapped on the planet, their forces scattered across multiple independent forge-states. They were forced to abandon their fleet as it was destroyed in orbit by the Death Guard. These Astartes now form the core resistance to the forces of Nurgle.
Notable Campaigns
- A Foundry Infected (???.M42) - The Blightborn flagship Entropy's Wake settles into orbit. They are told by the planetary coalition in no uncertain terms that they are unwelcome. Lacking the numbers for a planet-wide campaign, Bardorax instead chooses to bombard then invade the most powerful state to kill or capture the forge's leadership. The Blightborn engage a rival force of Chaos Space Marines who are sworn to the Hell-forges; their inevitable advance supported by the fire of a mighty Plagueburst Crawler. The operation turns in the Death Guard's favour when their corrupting influence begins to tell. In orbit, the Plague Ship destroys a flotilla of renegade frigates and raider-class vessels, stranding the enemy on the planet and denying them reinforcements. With his mechanised units rusting away to nothing around him, and even his Heretic Astartes allies succumbing to disease, the Fabricator-General offers a surrender in a bid to save what little he has left. As a reward for seeing sense, Bardorax personally blesses the Fabricator's body with Nurgle's touch. The cyborg's will comes undone as his body corrodes and sickens in the Exile's grasp, until he kneels and offers his forge's services to Bardorax alone.
Politics, Culture & Ideology
Ordo Hereticus pict-capture of the landscape of Inflammax and one of its many polities.
Since early in its colonisation by the Dark Mechanicum, the planet has been divided into numerous city-states centred around the most powerful forge-temples. The number of these polities has risen and fallen as they have waged war with one another. In M40, the leaders of the most powerful states concluded a ceasefire and formed a loose defensive alliance against outside threats. This coalition, fraught at the best of times, teeters on the brink of collapse as its remaining members are primarily concerned with defending their own interests.
Plague-forge Inflammax has experienced a number of changes as a result of its capture by Bardorax. The forges that have been tainted by the Death Guard now serve them, churning out munitions, vehicles and other materiel. Once the plague-forge honoured a twisted interpretation of the Omnissiah as the god of Chaos Undivided; now the techno-plagues of Nurgle are creeping into every cogitator and adept, twisting them until the Plague God is the sole subject of devotion.
The ghastly foundries once produced daemon engines of numerous alignments and served the followers of multiple gods. Production on most of these creations has ceased altogether in favour of producing munitions, arms and new vehicles to supplement the Blightborn's arsenal.
As part of his surrender, the Fabricator-General has ordered a number of his retinue to accompany the Blightborn and maintain their armoury.
The forces of Inflammax are waging a cold war of algorithms and scrap code against the states they were formerly allied with - known as Trakzites. It's likely that should one of the plague-forge's former clients return a full-scale war for the planet could break out.
Military Forces
The military capability of Inflammax is limited but slowly increasing. They can now build more durable Skitarii forces thanks to the infusion of Nurgle's corruption. The plague-forge's ability to produce more advanced materiel will increase over time as the Nurgle forces seize control of more and more forge-complexes.
Notable Characters
- Hosch Cambror, Primary Vector - The Fabricator-General of Inflammax has, since being introduced to the contamination of Nurgle, become the architect of infecting the rest of the planet and has been designated the 'Primary Vector' by his enemies, a title which he deems logically applicable.
Relations
Allies
The Blightborn - These Plague Marines invaded Trakzis after being rebuffed, seeking war supplies and repairs to their vehicles. Forced to surrender, the new plague-forge of Inflammax now serves Bardorax and his warriors.
