Chapter Organization

While the Halo Knights are mostly compliant to the organizational structures set about by the Codex Astartes, there are a few considerable variations and deviations to the structure, ranking system and squad variants. This is mainly attributed to their homeworld's feudal culture and their isolation from the galaxy.

Command Ranks

  • Lord of the Flame Eternal – The Chapter Master of the Halo Knights: he is characterized by his set of modified MkX Tactictus Power Armour armour and his ancient power spear, his relic shield and his plasma pistol, all of which is passed down from Knight Commander to Knight Commander. A Knight Commander is a hero of the Imperium, a beacon of nobility and light in an era of darkness.
  • Lords of Fire – The equivalent to a Codex adherent Chapter’s Captains. There are 10 of these mighty heroes in the Chapter, each given the command of an Company. They are mighty and powerful warriors in their own right, striding into battle in their powerful modified armour and ancient blades and bolters, but their true strength lies in their tactical genius and how they command their forces.
  • Knight Lieutenants - The equivalent to a Codex adherent Chapter’s Lieutenants. Each Knight Captain has two Knight Lieutenants, the commander's personal bodyguards and consuls, who share the burden of commandeering a Company. They are their Captain’s right hands, and the three of them fight as one in battle.

Specialist Ranks and Formations

  • The Lord of Sancitity – The spiritual leader of the Halo Knights. It is the Master of Sanctity’s duty to protect the invaluable relics of the Chapter and conduct the most sacred of ceremonies. Declaring tenets from the Imperial Truth and in the name of the Emperor of Mankind, the Master of Sanctity strides into battle surrounded by a halo of holy light and an aura of divine power and might that spreads like wildfire to his brethren, who are compelled to even greater deeds of bravery and combat.
  • The Lord of Healing – The most skilled doctor within the ranks of the Halo Bearers, the Lord of Healing's duty is to make sure that the Chapter's heroes live to see another day.
  • – The Chapter's master of Warp manipulation and Keeper of Knowledge. He can destroy massive swathes of enemies with but a blink of his eye
  • The Champion of Flame – Within the ranks of the Halo Knights, the honor of being the Champion of the Flame is the highest honor a singular Battle-brother can achieve. The Champion has the greatest duty: to be the personal protector of the Bright Lord and the leader of the Guardians of the Flame Eternal. He is clad in a set of golden artificer armour, draped in emerald cloth, purity seals and reliquaries, and wielding the ancient relic power-sword known as the Paragon of Fury in one hand and the Flame of Halcyon in the other.
  • Guardians of the Flame Eternal–This group of 24 highly skilled and powerful Bladeguard Veterans (in the past, 12 Sternguard and 12 Vanguard Veterans) serves only the Knight Commander himself as his personal protectors. These superlative warriors have been recognized for the legendary deeds they have accomplished in the service to the Imperium: they stride into battle in ornate armour, covered in purity seals and brandishing beautifully wrought blades.
  • Knight Champion – These are the martial exemplars in the Companies of the Halo Knights. Each wields two power swords or one power sword and storm shield. The most experienced and skilled of their number is known as the Halo Champion, who is the leader of the Guardians of the Flame.
  • Knight Ancient – Chosen by their Knight Captain to hold the Company's standard to war, the Knight Ancients either wield a power sword or master-crafted bolt rifle in battle. The bravest and determined of their number leads the Guardians of the Flame with the Halo Champion as the Halo Bearer.
  • Pyro-Intercessor Squads - Intercessor Squauds that instead of bolt rifles, are equipped with heavy Flamers. They also wear the same modified Omnis power armour that Suppressors wear, and can leap across the battlefield.

Line Ranks

  • Paladin – Terminator Brothers
  • Knight Sergeant – Sergeants
  • Knights – Standard Battle-Brothers.
  • Squires – Neophytes
  • Pages – Aspirants

Chapter Beliefs

Chapter Gene Seed

Primarch's Curse: Unyielding

With a culture that emphasizes endurance and self-sacrifice, the Halo Knights are renowned for their stubborn nature. The Halo Knights are not swift to determine a course of action, and slower still to change their minds once they have decided. However, it is a fine line between determination and obstinacy, and Battle-Brothers must be watchful that their stubbornness does not grow. This genetic curse usually occurs in three stages:

  • Level 1 (Unrelenting): The Battle-Brother cannot easily change his mind once he has decided upon something. Having weighed the facts of the situation, he sees his current course of action as the best one, and cannot easily consider alternatives.
  • Level 2 (Intransigent): The Battle-Brother is unwilling to compromise and is difficult to reason with. His stubborn nature prevents him from regarding any alternatives to his point of view. Unable to reconcile with the rest of his squad, the affected Battle-Brother often chooses only to rely on himself, thereby reducing his squad's overall cohesion.
  • Level 3 (Obstinate): The Battle-Brother is slow to decide and is unlikely ever to change his views on any matter, and will die before relenting in any situation.
