The Fireforged are a Salamanders Successor Chapter created in the Ultima Founding which occurred in 999.M41, shortly after of the Fall of Cadia. The Fireforged have a reputation for unwavering dedication to promised oaths and exemplary battle honors which saw them earn the recognition from the High Lords. Tasked with the control of a vital system in Segmentum Tempestus, the Fireforged Chapter was given the responsibility to stem the expansion of a xenos threat that could jeopardize the Imperium.
Chapter History
Early in their history, before they became the Fireforged, they distinguished themselves in the massed infantry engagements typical of the Greyshields, and in particularly in the aspect of siege warfare. Their exceptional performance led them to develop a specialized spearhead formation, where the strongest forces of the formation would push forward of the rest of the unit, breaking enemy lines like a spearhead thrust into the heart of a foe. This tactic became synonymous with their combat doctrine, creating a personality within the unit that hungered for glory. They became the vanguard, the first into battle, and the first to celebrate their victories, cultivating a reputation for frivolity and ferocity on the battlefield.
The chapter originated in the Unnumbered Sons by Lord Commander of the Imperium and Imperial Regent Roboute Guilliman for service in the Indomitus Crusade. Active during the early years of the Era Indomitus, the chapter was used in siege warfare alongside the sons of Rogal Dorn or breaching enemy lines at the front of most pushes. The Chapter, ever hungry for glory and honor made sure to place itself at the forefront of any assault and to leave its mark in any battlement or fortress they built
After the Battle for the Lagros System, the chapter experienced a chapter-wide psychic awakening, starting with only a handful of marines initially experiencing psychic abilities. However, this ability rapidly spread until every Fireforged marine manifested lesser psychic disciplines, predominantly creating fiery weapons like the two-handed maul in their hands. This unexpected psychic development threw the chapter into a crisis of faith, as they believed themselves cursed. In this tumultuous time, the Salamanders' Master of Sanctity Leotrak Esar intervened.
The Salamanders Master of Sanctity had come to the Unnumbered Sons to induct the sons of Vulkan into the culture and beliefs of the Salamanders and Nocturne. He found the glory-hungry character of the Fireforged wanting and used the Chapter's current crisis of faith to rebuke them for their pride and glory-seeking nature, shaming them into recognizing the importance of humility and duty. The Fireforged Chapter underwent a profound transformation, forsaking battle honors and prideful arrogance. Under Leotrak Esar's guidance, they embraced the disciplined teachings of the Promethean Cult, finding strength in selflessness and duty.
The most profound change that occurred within the Fireforged Chapter was the deep-seated commitment to honor every word they promised, echoing the principles exemplified in the tales of their Primarch Vulkan. No matter how arduous the task, no vow was considered too challenging to fulfill.
For many years, the Fireforged Chapter followed the Master of Sanctity into battle, demonstrating their newfound dedication to the Promethean Cult. They eschewed personal glory, focusing on the greater good of the Imperium and their duty as Space Marines.
In recognition of their changed ways and the potential they displayed, the High Lords of Terra approached the Fireforged Chapter with an offer. The Fireforged would be charged with a system in which a terrible xenoes threat which if left unchecked would jeopardize the entirety of the Imperium, and due to previous Imperial failings has fostered a great bulwark against the Imperium. Due to the nature of this assignment, the chapter would find itself entirely occupied by its charge, thus unable to gain the glory that it previously hunted. The chapter was made aware by the Imperial Messengers that this was an offer, not an order to avoid any potential loss of honor for the Astartes.
The chapter deliberated in the forges of their Fortress Monastery, the Sol Invictus until they came to accept their new charge; however, they would not abandon their previous oaths. Such the chapter was reorganized, reforging the tenth scout company into the tenth battle company, which was charged with going out into the wider Imperium to handle the Chapter's oaths, leading to persistent rumors that the chapter ignores the Codex Astartes, and consists of far more than 1000 space marines.

The masterfully crafted warplate of the Chapter found heavy use in the tight halls of the traitors as they destroyed the enemy ships from within, commonly planting explosives upon the navigator of the ship and retreating before detonating the ships. However, as the battle continues one last assault was mounted upon Khaz'khul's personal warship the "Maw of Destruction", where the chapter detonated the ship's wardrive sinking it into the warp. Chapter Home System
Nestled within the vast expanse of Segmentum Tempestus, the Kyllopodion System System stands as the fiery crucible that homes the Fireforged Chapter. At its celestial heart, a blazing star, known reverently as the Emberheart. The gravitational dance of planets around this radiant sun, akin to the fiery maelstrom of battle, propels them through the void before drawing them close once more. The planets bear witness to relentless seasons of extreme conditions, testing the resilience of those who call this system home. Much like any bastion of the Adeptus Astartes, boasts formidable static defenses and a formidable forge fleet, a testament to the chapter's self-sufficiency. To assail this realm is to challenge the very essence of the Fireforged Chapter's determination, an act viewed with a mix of awe and trepidation by both allies and adversaries alike.
Celestial Objects:
- Emberheart — The radiant sun at the center of the system.
- Sunstrike — Volcanic mustering world of the Fireforged Chapter. Would be neophytes are drawn from the Pyroclastia Training Academy

Fortress-Monastery
The Sol Invictus, the formidable fortress monastery of the Fireforged Chapter, stands as a testament to both the martial and technological prowess of these sons of Vulkan. Unlike conventional monolithic bastions, the Sol Invictus is a marvel of Imperial engineering, a mobile void base that traverses the stars as the chapter carries out its duty to the Imperium. Elegantly designed yet imposing, the Sol Invictus resembles a celestial forge suspended in the cold void of space. Its hull is adorned with intricate dragon motifs, a constant reminder of the chapter's lineage. Equipped with formidable void shields and adamantium plating, the fortress monastery is a bastion capable of withstanding the harshest of enemy assaults.
Deep within the heart of Sol Invictus lies the Sanctum of the Flame, a sacred chamber where the chapter's Forge Masters forge and maintain the specific tools which the Fireforged needed for their charge. Due to the nature of the xenos which they fight, they forge many new and different weapons and ammunition, or modify existing wargear for different purposes. Due to the zealotry of the Adeptus Mechanicus, this forge is left a large secret from any Mechanicus allies.
The chapter's gene-seed repository, the Sacellum Promethean, is zealously guarded within, ensuring the lineage of Vulkan is perpetuated with utmost care.
Chapter Organisation
The Fireforged Chapter does not adhere strictly to the Codex Astartes. Instead, they organize into ten companies, each consisting of 100 marines with the notable absence of a scout company is compensated by other Imperial army elements which the chapter works hand in hand with, instead the ten company ventures into the wider Imperium to fulfill promised oaths. The Chapter remains 1000 strong, however, due to many rumors of the tenth company containing significantly more then a mere 100 marines it is believed the chapter holds more then 1000 marines but several fold.
Officer Ranks
A Forge Master within the esteemed ranks of the Fireforged Chapter holds a position equivlant to a captain in another chapter. Revered as master smiths among master smiths, these individuals are not only seasoned warriors but also consummate craftsmen, fusing the arts of war and craftsmanship seamlessly. Tasked with leading each of the ten companies, a Forge Master assumes the mantle of responsibility for ensuring the self-sufficiency and resilience of their unit, particularly during extended missions. These leaders are adept at overseeing the maintenance and production of advanced wargear, turning their companies into self-contained war machines capable of withstanding the harshest conditions.
Specialist Units & Formations
Upon the chapter's acceptance of the High Twelve's offer, the chapter met with their Salamanders allies one last time upon Nocturne where they were gifted one hundred suits of terminator armor, each a veritable relic on its own and some seeing battle from the Horus Heresy. To honor this extraordinary gift, the True Sons Chapter convened their most distinguished warriors, those whose unwavering dedication to duty and indomitable spirit had carved their names into the annals of the chapter's history. The chosen ones, adorned in the revered terminator armor, were formed into a formidable unit known as the Consecrated. The Consecrated, drawn from every company of the True Sons, formed a brotherhood of unparalleled skill and unbroken resolve. Together, they marched into the crucible of war armed with reproductions of the ancient flame projector weapon from the Salamanders legion.

The aspirants face a treacherous journey through the molten expanses of , the mustering world of Sunstrike. Struggling against searing heat and volcanic eruptions, they must navigate a hazardous path, from the fiery sands of the Lower Planes to the volcanic mountains of the Higher Planes. Only those who emerge from the Trail of the Roaring Flames, their bodies and spirits unbroken by the battle, are deemed worthy to become Fireforged Astartes. The survivors bear the scars of their ordeal proudly and take trophies from their fire wyrm, from skulls to bones to skin.
Deathwatch Service
The Fireforged Chapter, bound by their solemn charge from the High Lords to halt the expansion of a violent alien race threatening the Imperium, steadfastly refuses the prestigious service within the Deathwatch. While the honor of joining the Deathwatch is acknowledged, the Fireforged Astartes remain resolute in their chosen path.
Chapter Gene-Seed
The Fireforged Chapter bears the fiery legacy of the Salamanders' gene-seed, infused with the essence of their Primarch Vulkan. Yet, a distinctive psychic flaw courses through the veins of every Fireforged Astartes, granting them the ability to manifest burning psy weapons. This psychic anomaly, while a potent asset in battle, has become a double-edged sword, with souls that burn so bright the Fireforged are more susceptible to psychic assault.
