" Into the dark, my brothers! Let the xeno-scum know that we are their nightmare! Come with me, sons of the night, and we shall eradicate them all!"
— Sergeant Garaes during the battle of Zhanmond against the Khrave.

The Accentors are a loyalist Codex-compliant Space Marine Successor Chapter created from the lineage of the legendary and feared Raven Guard during the 25th Founding, also called as the 'Bastion Founding', in the late 40th Millennium. They generally follows the Codex Astartes, though there are some differences due to their limited numbers and their prefered means of tactics and deployment of forces.

Chapter History[]

The Accentors is slighty under strength due to an campaign against a xeno infestation by the Khrave in the Laanah Rifts whitin the Segmentum Pacificus. This war nearly destroyed the Chapter and it has taken a long time for them to recover from this loss. According to the Emperor's Tarot this threat was the reason in which the Chapter was created. In 153.M41 the last of the xenos was hunted down and destroyed after a brutal fight in the enormous sewer system under the ruined Hive City Zhanmond.

The Chapter are considered exceptionally xenophobic. They believe that other spieces and non-Humans must not be tolerated and utterly completely destroyed. This also include abhumans or any other genetic mutated humans, with the exception of the psykers that the Imperium must make use of for its survival.

Since its founding the Accentors has been involved in numerous of battles and engagements against the enemies of the Imperium. Most notably is the Chapter's battles against different xeno races.

Chapter Combat Doctrine[]

Accentors Land Speeders

Pict-file of a formation of Accentor Land Speeders.

As a Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard, the Accentors generally follows the combat doctrine set by their reverend Primarch, Corvus Corax. The Chapter heavily utilize their skills in covert shadow warfare and 10th Company assets on the battlefield, combined with coordinated attacks on the weak points in enemy defences with rapid maneuver engagements and lightning strikes. The combat doctrine of the Chapter also state that heavy armed vehicles, such as tanks, are not adapted for the brothers prefered way of waging war. Because of this the Chapter don't use any tank or heavy support by land, they however make heavy use of Land Speeders and air support.

The companies and squads of the Accentors often operate alone without support from the rest of the Chapter or other Imperial military forces.

That which separates the Chapter from their genetic forebears Successor Chapters is their unique skills in underground warfare and operations. To fight in the dark and confined spaces of mines, caves, culverts and tunnels is the main specialization of the Chapter.

Deathwatch Service[]

Retrieval of troops

Unique pict-file of the retrieval of Accentor Brother Quez and his Deathwatch Kill-Team.

Since its founding the Chapter has on numerous occasions seconded Battle-Brothers to the Deathwatch. The brothers has served not only as members of Kill-Teams, but also as Watch Captains and Veterans. The most notably member is Brother Zemal Quez that served as Keeper of Watch Fortress Castilos Nullifact.

Deathwatch Auxilia: Honorificus Auxilium[]

Due to the significant cooperation between the Accentors and the Deathwatch, the Chapter has recived the significant honor of being appointed as Honorificus Auxilium (Low Gothic; Honorable Support Unit) to the Deathwatch. This sign of distinction is only given to those Space Marine Chapters that are totally committed to the Deathwatch cause and fight against the hostile alien civilisations that threaten the Imperium.

As a token of this great honor the brothers of the Chapter are allowed to adorn and incorporate their power armour with the Deathwatch Aquila.

Chapter Fleet[]

The Chapter has a varied fleet of different vessels.

Notable Vessels[]

  • Black Flame (Battle Barge) - The flagship of the Accentors.
  • Grand Shadow (Battle Barge) - Participated in the war against the Khrave between 897.M40-153.M41.
  • Silent Howl (Strike Cruiser) - This vessel has been with the Chapter since its founding.
  • Hades Horror (Vanguard Cruiser) - Destroyed by the Rak'Gol in the late 41st Millennium.

Chapter Beliefs[]

Corvus Corax

Corvus Corax, the Raven-Lord.

Like many other Chapters, the Accentors maintain long-standing rituals and a devotion to the ideals of their Primarch. The Chapter belief that it is their duty to destroy the enemies of the Imperium to in preparation for the day when their highly esteemed Liberator will come back.

To seek glory in battle is of no importance for the Chapter, the only thing that matters is the goal and to achieving overall military success. But not needlessly throw away the lives of Battle-Brothers and that they may accomplish their goal with a minimum of risk. They are focused upon success in all of its endeavours to proven themselves worthy in the eyes of the Raven-Lord.

Chapter Gene-Seed[]

In terms of purity of the gene-seed, the Accentors have the same as their progenitor and they also lack a functional Mucranoid and Betcher's Gland implant. However, the brothers of the Chapter also suffers from having a very oversensitive Occulobe. This deficiencies making them see perfectly in the dark, through smoke and even heat signatures, but also make them nearly blind in daylight. This flaw has led to that the brothers very rarely take of their helmets, that are fitted with special lenses, unless it's completely dark.

Just like their progenitor, the brothers skin are pale and they have carbon black eyes, but their hair is pure white.

Primarch's Curse: Lure of the Shadows[]

  • Level 1 - The Battle-Brother is used to working in his small Accentor strike team, and finds the direct tactics used by other Chapters to be brutish and ineffective. When commanded into a direct attack that he finds foolhardy, the Battle-Brother is resistant, almost to the level of disobedience.
  • Level 2 - Becoming increasingly intractable, the Battle-Brother is quiet and brooding. In mission briefings he stays in the shadows, only speaking when absolutely necessary. For example, the fellow members of a Deathwatch Kill-Team would feel uneasy around the moody Battle-Brother, tending to avoid him when possible.
  • Level 3 - The Battle-Brother despises the tactics of his fellow Battle-Brothers, knowing that his more intelligent approach is the best way to victory.

Recruitment[]

The Chapter recruit aspirants from a variety of worlds all over the galaxy, but they mainly focus their search on Hive Cities where different gangs and other scums rule the lower parts and the world underneath the streets. Among this groups there are those who could proven themselves worthy to become a recruit of the Chapter.

Magna Circuitus

The dark corridors of the Magna Circuitus.

During the selection process of the recruits, they are exposed to numerous tests of their strength, stamina, speed and mental strength. Those who deemed suitable will become Neophytes and will undergo a demanding and cruel training in the arts of stealth and infiltration as a part of their initiation into new brothers of the Accentors.

Martii Umbra[]

The final trial is the Martii Umbra (Low Gothic; The Shadow March) in which the Neophytes will be send into the Magna Circuitus, the labyrinth that surrounds the Fortress-Monastery of the Chapter. There they will have to preform various combat and infiltration exercises in complete darkness and silence, and only the few who succed will be allowed to join the ranks of the Accentors as new Battle-Brothers.

These fetishes and sigils also seem to appease the Machine Spirits of their wargear.
Servo-Skull

Pict-file of a Servo-Skull customized for recon duty.

  • Servor-Skulls - All Neophytes that become full Battle-Brothers will recive a Servo-Skull which the brothers can modify as they wish.
