"Today brothers we will have a great victory over our enemies that we shall sing stories of this great day! Charge Ære og Ære! "
— Erak Stormbringer before the battle of Hartjen

The Blood Hounds are a Loyalist, non-Codex-compliant Space Marine Chapter created during an Unknown Founding sometime in the 37th Millennium. Their genetic lineage is believed to come from an unknown legion. The Inquisition has kept this chapter under its watchful eyes due to its genetic heritage. Due to their homeworld always giving off massive amounts of electricity the people of Hartjen have the ability to sense the electrical signals that muscles give off similar to sharks. This, in turn, has created some of the best trackers in the Imperium. The space marines who come from this planet would be the greatest trackers and they would be proud to carry the title The Great Trackers.

The Blood Hounds are an aggressive chapter that believes that they must destroy their enemies as quickly as possible. Most recruits are taken from the wild spirit so the young recruits are taught to harness their wild side into a powerful weapon to use on their enemies. They prefer to use shock-and-awe tactics and lighting warfare being able to appear like a hurricane before disappearing like the wind, leaving nothing but utter destruction in their wake. There is a myth among the Blood Hounds that the horrifying death of one of the 18 Lords, with pure white wings, is what causes the madness that runs in the Blood Hounds. It was because of this death and the betrayal from his former Lords the Feral Lord would enter the dimension known as the Verwring (warp) with some of his sons to enact and kill those who betrayed and instil the rage of the Blood Hounds to carry on.

Many chapters often keep an eye out for the Blood Hounds as many War-Dogs are easily offended and prone to anger. They prefer to attack on the front lines preferring to face their enemies head on. Many of their doctrine has them fight as fast as possible, to attack their enemies and end their lives before they do too much damage to the local population. Their origins are mysterious and shrouded behind their chapter librarians and only the chapter masters themselves will know their true history.

Chapter Home World[]

Hartjen

Lander Storm Steve Burg

A Blood Hounds Thunderhawk on a routine patrol across the storm wracked surface of their deadly home world.

Hartjen is a Death World, and one where even few Space Marines can survive this type of unique environment. It has been recorded that the whole planet is similar to a giant battery, glowing with an eerie light blue luminescence. This mysterious planet has been observed to have strange power surges that can shut down Lunar-class cruisers and damage even a mighty Battle Barge. This planet's fauna is seen as equal to Catachan in aggression and danger. For example, a local canid known as a Storm Hound is a monstrous dog that prowls the planet. This ferocious beast possesses high intelligence and has been recorded to be similar to Terran primate (not humanoid, but similar). These creatures are highly aggressive and potent as their fur is extremely tough, able to withstand multiple bolter rounds when a was attack squad of tempest scions ed and ripped to shred's. Tpiecesd Hounds also found an ancient battlefield where old power armor and vehicles are found and repaired by the tech marines.

Storm Hound

A rare pict-file of a Hartjen Chen Tanpèt (Storm Hound).

The people of Hartjen have found a way to tame these beasts, there are even reports of larger and even more volatile versions created from an unknown canid, (Some Inquisitors believe that the Blood Hounds forebears possessed unknown wolf companions that bred with the Storm Hounds). This new sub-species, dubbed the Hurricane Hound, stand 12 feet tall. It is a massive beast of war, capable of tearing through the armor of a Chimera tank, like a knife through butter. The planet is mostly barren but has a dense sub-tropical jungle with a light green tint to it, and high mountains that seem to expel electricity from the tips. There are only a few lakes and one ocean that is surprisingly fresh water. This is where nearly all the planet's tribes are located and the Chapter's fortress-monastery is located on the Tallest mountain formations serving as the world's tallest peak, overlooking the many tribes and serving as a high temple for the Adeptus Astartes and a gateway to the Emperor of Mankind.

Fortress-Monastery[]

The fortress-monastery of the Blood Hounds Chapter is located high in the Üülen Mountains. The base of the fortress is separated into the main three mountain tops (Known as 'Ankhny Shuurga' the main base, 'Rants Ordon' base of the Scouts, and 'Böögiin Tsamkhag' base of the 'Rýnstrmaðr') flags and pelts cover the fortress with gray and red markings detailing the story and history of the Blood Hounds. There are also huge towers that seem to house defense and observational tools used by the 'Rýnstrmaðr' and 'High Lach' as research.

Chapter Culture[]

Blood Hound Serf

Failed Space Marine recruit turned into a Broken Claw scout

From the time they are born every child born into tribes owned by the Blood Hounds is looked upon by the High Skull-Sanvaartan to see if the child would grow to be strong enough to be inducted into the Chapter as Runts. When the time comes and if the chosen child proves themselves they will be inducted into the Chapter in a large ceremony to congratulate the child on becoming a warrior. The Runts are then placed into "packs" of 100 for the remainder of their training. They are taken care of by the mentors and teachers. As Aspirants and Neophytes, they are called Runts and War Runts (respectively). When they eventually attain status as a full-fledged battle-brother, they will be split apart into smaller groups of 10 or as few as 4 (depending on training), to be trained, based on their skills, and trained as 'Orrostumaðr' - brothers who work as a pack to take down larger opponents and show team-work as a unit. They are taught to embrace their wild side to use their savagery as a tool to hone into a blade rather than a wild beast. This seems to improve the combat of the Blood Hounds even further as many will rush and charge the enemies of the Imperium, tearing lesser foes apart and bringing down larger opponents as well.

Chapter Organisation[]

Though barbaric, savage, and wild in nature the Blood Hounds seem to found a way to have a somewhat semblance of organization. To increase their honor in the eyes of Blood Hounds they are known to scalp weaker foes and decapitate the biggest enemies that you can find. This shows their skill and many Blood Hounds would honor Orrostumaðr would congratulate their brother with feast and tales of their exploits. Blood Hounds see this as a way of honor and leadership. To join the Blood Hounds is to go through the vigorous trials that even the best warriors or chieftains struggle with.

All Orrostumaðr follow the oldest warrior in a squad, a large battle force called a 'Krigsfest'. The Scouts of the Blood Hounds are made of recruits and highly skilled marksmen/hunters in the Krigsfest. Useful for reconnaissance and moving in groups of four. Any that were great hunters and trackers in their former life can rise to the rank of 'Skautuud' and 'Skaut' are able to enhance their wild senses for brief periods and can hunt in almost any environments. Many Skauts are highly prized for their ability to chase prey down for months on end from just taste alone making them prized down enemy encampments and sought-out targets. The favorite weapon of Orrostumaðr is the 'Jadqe' or pole thunder hammer, which takes the form of a pole weapon with the lightning-shaped power or chain-sword on one end, and the head of a thunder hammer on the other.

Order of Battle[]

Chapter Command[]

Companies[]

1st Company-The most veteran company that is called the 'Chen Ak Mak' ("Dogs with Scars"). They are famous for being the first to land down and engage the enemy in an aggression even more feral than other companies. Known for decorating in more bones than other Blood Hounds they are a force to be reckoned with. They are led by Erak Přváděč Buřek.

2nd Company- The second known company in the Blood Hounds called the 'Lupii De Fier' ("Iron Hounds"). Using more mechanized formations like the Grey-Hounds, they hold a brotherly rivalry with the 1st Company. However, they will act as a powerful force when facing heretics and xeno scum together in brotherhood. When fighting they are an unstoppable force that obliterates all living things in their path. More of these space marines prefer to use combi weapons like their captain 'Eoforwine Combse'. Almost all have been known to ride vehicles and prefer to use cybernetics given to them by their 'Smiðr' to increase their strength and to make them even more dangerous. They also have a lot of Smiðr than the others, they are led by Eoforwine Combse.

3rd Company- This company is comprised of more Primaris Marines after nearly losing 65% of all personnel during the attack on the forge moon of Demir Ruh by ----. They are called the 'Sange Nou' ("New Bloods") for having the most Primaris Marines in the chapter. This company is great at fire support and is led by Primaris Captain Jarkahn. They prefer the use of heavy weaponry. With a mix of Heavy Bolters, Plasma guns, and Flamers, they also make use of heavy troops like Aggressor Squads, Inceptor Squads and Vanguard Suppressor Squads. Although there are a lot more Primaris Marines the original Blood Hounds try and teach the newer generation of the ways of the Blood Hounds.

4th Company- This company specializes in siege and defense they prefer to use explosives and artillery to wear down the enemy. Called the 'Câini De Asediu)' ("Siege Hounds") they are well known for their use of fortification and heavy explosives. One unique fact about the Siege Hounds is that they have hazard strips painted on their poleyns (knee guards) and twisting around their arms to show their explosive attitude and knowledge of fortifications. They are led by siege expert and fort constructor Haevreri Camenzo. They also make more use of traps and choke points to make use of their heavy weaponry.

5th Company- This company is the oldest formation of Space Marines in the chapter. While veterans, they are made from the "oldies" some are more than 800 years old with the leader being 780 years old and are said to be "too tough to die and too old to learn new tricks", nicknamed 'Câine bătrân' ("Old Hounds"). They were the ones who continued to tell their peers that the Emperor was not a god but a man. They are very distrustful of the Inquisition and are downright arguing with the more governmental side of the Imperium. They also wear updated Mark II: Crusade Armor, and Mark III: Iron Armor, and wield relic bolters and plasma guns. The captain 'Khab Dhokk' wears Mk1 prototype Terminator Armor and wields an assault cannon, heavy flamer, and a plasma canon on the top of the helmet. The Inquisition has on multiple accounts accused them of heresy, but they have failed each time by having support from the rest of their chapter. They don't trust Primaris Marines and instead take the ones created from the "old ways". Their armor is covered in scars, scratches, and holes as well as many have cybernetic replacements. They see Erak in two ways; one, they see him as an honorable warrior who takes no shite from the Inquisition while the others see him as somewhat weak for allowing the 3rd Company of having Primaris. Unlike the other captains, Khab Dhokk's personal guard wears Mk 3 terminator armor. The reason why is that only 3 suits were found and so only 3 are his bodyguard.

6th Company - Unlike the other companies in the Blood Hounds Chapter those of the Sixth prefer to fight in the shadows, acting as scouts, snipers, and assassins. This company possesses more Scouts, Reivers and Vanguards than the rest of the Chapter. Not really a frontline company, they provide intel and fire support. Instead of using Neophytes as scouts they use veterans to be saboteurs. They excel in shooting and scouting and many are well-respected soldiers. They are led by 'Destimenes Villis', the greatest sharpshooter in the Blood Hounds. They take assassination and tracking to the extreme devoting their whole existence to being able to hunt in any environment and track in any weather condition. They call themselves Hunde af 'sjæl'.

7th Company-

Vehicles[]

They are also equipped with a Dozer Blade, lascannons, and heavy storm bolters. They switch to the storm bolters when the berserkers come. Covered in skulls and totems of skulls.
  • Land Hounds - Are the Land Raiders of the Blood Hounds. Painted like the space marines and covered in skulls and bones they are used to smash the enemy's frontlines they cause mass disruption and make it easier for the Blood Hounds to kill.
  • Whirlwind Hounds - are whirlwinds that are used by the Blood Hounds. They are used as a softener to the enemy back lines. They then retreat when the frontlines get there. Painted red then grey as a warning to the berserkers to hide until they retreat.
  • Storm Hounds- Are Stormtalons that are used to support the berserkers by charging ahead of the Blood Hounds. They are piloted by Failed Dogs as they don't have a gene-seed and are not creeped out by not being in the air. These Failed Dogs are called Angel Dogs and have wings on their planes.
  • Alpha Stormdogs - Alpha Stormdogs are advanced Angel Dogs that are promoted to Guardian-Dogs that pilot Stormhawks and are used as aerial attacks on infantry forces. These aerial gunships are covered in the Chapter's colors with a picture of a wolf on the front of the vehicle's nose.
  • Beta Storm Hound - The Storm Hound is an old relic of a Stormbird used by the 1st Company as its primary mode of transporation to get troops and vehicles onto the field and is a beast of a tool. Piloted by the Best serf. Currently piloted by the best pilot Jar Windslasher.
  • Sicaran Hound - The oldest tank in the Blood Hounds arsenal. Found after a purging of a planet by the 2nd they then built it up to new as a chariot for their Striped Maned Beta Dog Eoforwine Combse. it is seen as a sign of strength and courage to keep pushing forward. It is a Sicaran Punisher.
  • Spiders - Spiders are an alternative name for Tarantula Sentries.

Combat Doctrine[]

The Blood Hounds are known for facing the enemy in smash and hit tactics, but will also use lightning warfare to their advantage.

Chapter Beliefs[]

They believe that the Emperor of Mankind is the Master of Storms whom they call 'Haku o ka hekili'. They also believe that the Emperor will grant them power should they accept their powers they will increase. The custom of head taking is more of a trophy system in the Blood Hounds society for a young Blood Hound. The first kill is their first trophy and what they kill is how they gain favor and respect amongst others and respect from veterans.

Serfs in service to a space marine are used to keep the Space Marine's weapons and personal space clean while the space marine is doing battle and is unavailable. Serfs also are allowed to carry and keep weapons that are used to help civilians escape a planet. Other Broken Claws are used to pilot ships and tanks called Angel Claws who fly the ships for the Blood Hounds. However, those that go are famed for their ability to track their foes from thousands of miles thanks to their heightened senses. The alliance between these two Chapters is one shrouded in mystery as to how it happened, and why, remains a mystery. Though there are different rumors as to how, the most common story goes that when a space hulk purgation went horrible wrong, many Tyranids came from the huge ship and slaughtered many Dire Hounds (Terminator Veterans). They were saved by a force of Void Reapers who managed to rescue the remaining Dire Hounds, and together, they purged the hulk together for the Emperor. The Void Reapers seem to acknowledge the Blood Hounds for their devotion and how they shred the enemies of the Imperium into mincemeat, similar to themselves. The Blood Hounds also look up to them with great passion for their skill in fighting and slaying of the heretics and xenos filth that plague the Imperium.

Marines Malevolent Armorial Updated

Marines Malevolent armorial.

The Marines Malevolent are a controversy in the Imperium of man, but in the territory where the Blood Hounds reside the Marines are seen as traitors and cowards and are treated as such. The reason for this was during a brutal campaign against Da anga destroyaz Clanz during this time the clanz had grown to a large size having the second company deal with them as they called for backup they it was picked up by The Marines Malevolent. During this brutal campaign, the Blood Hounds saw the horror that the Orks did but were horrified by the Marines Malevolent actions towards civilians and to themselves. However, the one that sent them over the edge was when the Orks rallied together to push the space marines back.

Mark of Khorne

The Blood Hounds reserve a special seething animosity towards those who worship and follow the Blood God, primarily due to the senseless slaughter enacted against their home planet's people. This has caused a deep hatred towards Khorne and any Khorne-aligned Chaos Warbands and cultists. They are often the ones that will get their attention more than the other enemies of the Imperium.
