Abyssal Conclave
Abyssal Conclave Color Scheme
The Abyssal Conclave is a Chaos Warband with roots in the Word Bearers Traitor Legion. They have largely withdrawn from their Legion's fold, disillusioned by the millennia-long power struggles between Kor Phaeron and Erebus, they now maintain a considerable distance from their Legion's affairs. While still acknowledging the authority of the Dark Council of Sicarus, they seldom make appearances on their legion's homeworld itself.

Pict-File Unavailable

The Chaos Warband known as Angels of Despair are a former loyalist Chapter, that turned its back to the Imperium and is classified as 'heretical'. They were formerly known as the Flames of Iron, a successor Chapter of the Iron Drakes and were quite respected. But through unknown events, they started worshipping new gods and started civil wars against the Emperor. Now they roam the galaxy under the name Angels of Despair and bring doom to unfortunate Imperial Worlds. Just like their predecessors, they tend to use fire and heat as a weapon and are formidable opponents in melee.

Angels of Succession
Angels Succession Heretic Astartes
The Angels of Succession are a notorious Slaaneshii Chaos Warband that has plagued the galaxy for over ten millennia. In another age they hailed from the Fifteenth Company of the fallen Emperor's Children Traitor Legion. Following the end of the Horus Heresy and their eventual exile into the hellish realm of the Eye of Terror, the former Emperor's Children fought a desperate battle for survival against their rivals from the other Traitor Legions, all while desperately trying to maintain their honour and dignity as they slipped deeper and deeper into madness and corruption by the Pleasure God Slaanesh. Realising their fate didn't have to be fixed, their commander declared that he would stem the tide of hedonism and debauchery and restore what remained of the Third Legion to their former glory. Declaring himself the rightful Lord Commander of the Emperor's Children, he renamed his followers the 'Angels of Succession', and has continued to wage the Long War against the followers of the false 'Corpse God', all while attempting to have his former legion rise from the ashes like the mythical phoenix.

The Angels of the Apocalypse are a formerly Loyalist Space Marine Chapter, known as the Sons of Redemption, that had fallen to the dark whims and false promises of the Chaos Gods. They exist only to undermine the name and honours of the Templars of the Golden Dawn Chapter, and they seek to ruin their reputation and bring them into the light of the Chaos Gods themselves. They follow Chaos Undivided, and are split into four factions: the Order of Lost Light (Tzeentch), Princes of Desolation (Nurgle), Hellforged Kings (Khorne) and the Lords of Lust (Slaanesh).

Angels of the Void
Void Angels Chaos Marine
The Angels of the Void are a mysterious Chaos Warband that descends from the noble Astral Angels. Although a relatively small fighting force when compared to other heretic factions, they are still classified by the Inquisition as Periculum Maximus for their secretive ways and ability to deceive most Imperial officers that attempted to investigate their obscure agenda. These traitors have been harassing the Imperium of Man since early M36, when they turned their back on the Emperor. Currently, the Angels of the Void reside in the daemon world of Dark Terra, a blasphemous mockery of its realspace counterpart in the Eye of Terror.

Arcane Reavers
Arcane Reavers Chaos Intercessor
The Arcane Reavers are what became of much of the Astral Carbines after their fall to heresy. After Arius Diven sold his soul and his chapter to Tzeentch, the Arcane Reavers rose in the shadows, as the Astral Carbines' glorious days started to wane. Now, they're a warband of Chaos Space Marines, but unlike many other warbands, their tactics are organized and mixed, being able to hold their ground against other organized threats. Their use of sorcery dramatically improves their effectiveness in combat.

The Chapters of this particular founding were both wracked with genetic mutations as well as catastrophic, and often times, spontaneous and uncontrollable genetic flaws. However, their lust for acquring forbidden knowledge would lead the Chapter down a dark and twisting path, forever damning them for all eternity, as they found themselves enslaved to the Architect of Fate.

The Beast Host
Beast Host Battle Brother
The Beast Host is an infamous Renegade Chapter of Space Marines. There is very little intel known about these ravenous cannibals. That is known for sure, but the mass majority of the chapter is mostly hidden and forgotten left to be forever a mystery to the expanded knowledge of the Imperium. Other then the obvious cannibalizing and hatred for the weak it has also been expected that these renegades have been known to have a odd combination of Greco Roman and Satanist culture if the names of their battle brothers are anything to go by as well as that they seem to have fallen to Chaos God known as Khorne.
The Betrayed
The Betrayed Chaos Marine
The Betrayed are a Chaos Warband made up of traitorous Astartes that are former members of the Sworn of Guilliman, a formerly Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and sole known Successor Chapter of the Metamarines, created during the 26th Founding. Blood Beasts

When the Blood Beasts go to war they bring with them a menagerie of daemonic horrors, due to their leader; daemon prince Kr'atos Wrathchild also commanding the daemonic legion known as the Ashborn the Blood Beasts are able to bring with them innumerable daemon engines. As a member of the chaotic alliance known as the Children of Madness the Blood Beasts often serve alongside the Nurglite Sisters of Battle Order of the Decayed Rose, Tzeentchian marines; Tyrants of Destiny and the Slaaneshi warband; the Howls of Ecstasy.

Blood Jaws
Blood Jaws Heretic Astartes
The Blood Jaws are a formerly Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines created during an Unknown Founding, and from uncertain lineage, in 013.M37. This bellicose and ferocious Chapter was created in order to stand as a bulwark against constant attacks in and around the Eye of Terror, from both the Forces of Chaos and various xenos threats. Unfortunately, within the first century of their creation, the Chapter fell from the light of the Emperor, for unknown to them, their first Chapter Master had been corrupted by a Greater Daemon of Khorne. Following their ill-fated sojourn into the Eye of Terror, the Blood Jaws was slowly corrupted by the insidious touch of the Blood God. When they finally emerged, they had been transformed into a large Chaos Warband, wholly dedicated to slaughter and murder. Now they commit the most obscene levels of carnage wherever they go, in tribute to their brutal and bloody deity.

Blood Templars
Heretic Astartes Pict-Unavailable

Pict-File Unavailable

The Blood Templars are a Renegade Chaos Space Marine Warband characterized by a Chivalric Code and their Zealous Crusade. As a renegade chapter of the Black Templars, their existence is kept a secret, and are constantly hunted by their former leader and Black Templar, Castellan Grattus Kermine. Unusually for a Khornate Warband they do not directly worship Khorne, instead worshipping the War-god Ershon of their lost homeworld Cambraie Primus. Furthermore, while they can fall into psychotic blood-rages (as all servants of Khorne), they generally strive to avoid such behavior unless approaching an enemy champion or monster. They maintain a fleet of civilian-manned ships and recruit exclusively from said population (or the strongest sons of a conquered world).
Blood Wyverns
Blood Wyverns Heretic Astartes
The Blood Wyverns are a notorious Chaos Warband in the service of Chaos Undivided. They were formerly a Loyalist Chapter of the ill-fated 21st 'Cursed' Founding going by the same name. They presumably come from the gene-stock of Roboute Guilliman, though this remains unconfirmed. Despite the fact there were no physical or mental defects with this Chapter, the fear and suspicion of the Imperium had caused them to go rouge when the Blood Wyverns had come to blows with an Inquisitorial Task Force. For the sin of daring to attack representatives of the Inquisition, they were declared renegades. Making their retreat to the farthest edges of Segmentum Pacificus, the Blood Wyverns soon turned to Chaos, however the Warband prefers to keep Chaos at arm's length.
(Excommunicate Traitoris)
Bloodborn Wolves
Bloodborn Wolves Khorne Berserker
The Bloodborn Wolves are an infamous Chaos Warband comprised of former Space Wolves Astartes that fell to the worship of the Chaos Blood God, Khorne. Renaming themselves the Bloodborn Wolves, these Heretic Astartes have given themselves over to the beast within, revelling in bloodletting and beastial fury. Now, as Khorne's chosen, they have turned on the Emperor, whom they see as the 'Arch-Sorcerer'. They slaughter all in their path, taking skulls and trophies from their fallen opponents for the glory of the Blood God. The Bloodborn Wolves are split into two factions which are divided into two major sections. They perfectly represent Khorne's dual nature, with some of the group, known simply as "The Bloodborn" - representing martial prowess and honour - while the other side, known as "The Bloodied" - represent corruption, anger and bloodshed.

Bloodied Claws
Bloodied Claws Heretic Astartes
The Bloodied Claws are an infamous Chaos Warband made up of the remnants of the Night Lords 42nd Company. Bloody Hands
Bloody Hand
The Bloody Hands are a Chaos Warband dedicated to Chaos Undivided. Originally they were the Ruby Sabres, a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter from the 15th Founding. The Chapter was known for its close adherence to the Codex Astartes. They defended the Imperium from the countless enemies of Mankind for centuries. Yet one battle-brother would soon make a grave mistake on the world of Thesulia Prime. Now they fight against the Imperium, against those they once swore to protect. A large number of Alpha Legion have found their way into the warband, which the Bloody Hands have accepted with excitement, for any opportunity to sabotage the Imperium that the Alpha Legion uses, the Bloody Hands are glad to assist in.

Being few in number, the Blue Hand have sought to raise heretical cults on worlds across the Ultima Segmentum. Such cults are known as The Cult of the Blue Hand of Tzeentch. They are dedicated to the Chaos God of change, as are the Blue Hand Marines, and incorporate the Warband’s eponymous sigil into their iconography. The Blue Hand Space Marine Chapter was a respected loyalist force for millenia, before their fall to Chaos. Now, those few Imperials who know of their existence speak their name with the deepest scorn and the fiercest hatred.

The war with the loyalists culminated at the Battle of Argonox, where the chapter fought a titanic battle with each other. After ascending to Daemonhood, Noros has dedicated both himself and his warriors to their lord and master - Tzeentch.

Brotherhood of Half-Life
Brotherhood of Half-Life Plague Marine
The Brotherhood of Half-Life was born on a dead world as the Imperium entered the Age of Apostasy, in M36. Amid the atomic stench and the fading glow of detonated missiles, Korughar, one of the lesser lords of the Seventh Plague Company, took command of the last surviving warriors of his septic cohort. Standing on the defeated daemon of the Deceiving God, he shouted unholy oaths, promising the Great Grandfather a true manifestation of faith and service. Since then, the worlds of the Imperium have been overwhelmed by new misfortunes, for the strength of the Brotherhood grows in proportion to it's offerings to the Gardens, and their gifts are very, very numerous. Awarded with the Mantle of Corruption, Korughar combined the best features of his Legion's knowledge - the monstrous Gifts of the otherworldly kingdom, savage rituals, the immoral possibilities of necromystery and alchemy, as well as the natural law of nature into the basis of the Brotherhood's martial doctrines. Their specialization is the recreation of that shaky border between life and death on each of the visited worlds, in order to generate as many and as many different life forms as possible. The worlds of mortals for them are nothing more than seeds, and the enemies, trying in vain to stop them, are only fertilizers, a consumable for their holy duty. Because of this approach, the Brotherhood of Half-Life spends much longer time in Imperial space, reaping a rich harvest for their research. The consequences of their experiments are such that the armor of each of the brothers resembles a completely rotten corpse with its external texture, and their bodies are filled not only with pathogens, but also with parasitic fungi, cysts full of larvae, clots of semi-intelligent abscesses and other things. They are human gardeners, perverted terraformers and breeders whose field of action is anyone who has the misfortune of being alive.

In the first century of M35, the strike cruiser carrying the 8th Company was on it's way back to their homeworld after participating in the Repression of Akkad. While still at a considerable distance from the chapter's monastery world of Morrigan, located in the Donorian Sector, astropathic contact was lost mid-communication - presumably due to a sudden warp surge overwhelming the cruiser's geller field. When the cruiser reappeared two centuries later it had been renamed the Carrion Eater and the Heretic Astartes aboard her, now called themselves the Carrion Crows. This warband now operates out of the notorious Hellgates - a pair of relatively small, dual warp storms located in the Segmentum Solar which are located uncomfortably close to Holy Terra.

Dark Core
Darkcore Chaos Marine
The Dark Core is a large Chaos Warband that has gained infamy for the past ten millennia. They are known to attack various Imperial military forces, xenos armies, and even fellow Chaos Forces. This is because they are one of the rare few who worship the Renegade Chaos God, Malice. As such they see it as their duty to spread discord and destruction, fighting only the best enemies in order to appease their Dark God. Since they do not worship the other Gods of Chaos, they have little Daemons, instead forcefully binding lesser Daemons to machines, having a large number of Daemon Engines to serve them. The warband is also infamous to raiding Rogue Traders, Imperial Navy Ships and even Loyalist and Chaos Space Marine ships, adding their vessels to their growing fleet and forcing the survivors into the service of Malice.

Dark Vultures
Dark Vultures Heretic Astartes
The Dark Vultures, or 'Tenebris Vulturis', are a formidable Chaos Warband of ill-repute. They were once Astartes of the Gore Vultures - a brutal and unforgiving Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes created during the 8th Founding from the lineage of the angelic Primarch Sanguinius. Relentless and savage, the Gore Vultures quickly garnered a reputation as a ferocious and merciless Chapter. A fleet-based Chapter, the Gore Vultures fell upon recalcitrant worlds that had forsaken their oaths of fidelity to the Emperor. Without warning, the Chapter fell upon their enemies like a tsunami, utterly annihilating everything in their path. Rumours soon began to circulate of these gore-spattered Astartes stalking the battlefield to devour the bodies of the fallen after a battle as a final mark of disrespect for their weakness. The Gore Vultures committed so many excesses in the Emperor's name that by the latter years M35 onwards, this Chapter all but disappeared from official Imperial records. Unable to ignore the atrocities committed by this Chapter the High Lords of Terra eventually declared the Gore Vultures Renegades and cast them out from the light of the Emperor's realm. Despite this edict, the Chapter refused to acquiesce to the High Twelve's declaration. For a time, the Gore Vultures still considered themselves to be loyal servants to the Emperor of Mankind, if not to His Imperium. However, over time, this renegade Chapter was forced to take drastic measures to ensure their survival. Taking refuge within the Eye of Terror, they Gore Vultures disappeared and were assumed destroyed. However, two millennia later, they returned to the material realm, they were wholly corrupted by the insidious influence of the Ruinous Powers and become the Chaos warband known as the Dark Vultures.

Dothane's Pride
Dothane's Pride Heretic Astartes
Born in the opening moments of the Sable Pride's civil war, Dothane's Pride vowed vengeance against the Dark Angels and the wider Unforgiven for their perceived transgressions and humiliations of his chapter, and in the Warband's eyes, the death of the true Sable Pride. To this end, the warband considers the chapter of the Sable Pride to no longer exist, instead referring to it as the Pride of whoever is the current Grand Marshal and currently referring to the chapter as Sephram's Pride, after the current Grand Marshal of the chapter. This is in reference to the naming of themselves and their foes during the War of the Two Prides, with the warband viewing the modern 'Sable Pride' to simply be a descendent of the loyalist forces under Grand Marshal Purion and not the true chapter of old.

Originally the 30th Infantry Regiment of the Ashimar Nova Guard, they fell to the sway of the Dark Prince after they witnessed the ascension of the Daemon Prince Stekontig, and became the core of Stekontig's fanatical followers, the Ashen Maulers. However, while most of the Ashen Maulers were utterly lost to sadism and depravity, the fallen Ashimar maintained a semblance of discipline and self-control. With an ever-burning hatred of the Imperial Fists and their Successors, they will break off any battle to track them down and slay them.

Rusted Sons
Rusted Sons Heretic Astartes
The Rusted Sons are a brutal and cunning Chaos Space Marine Warband which can trace its origins back to the Iron Warriors Traitor Legion. Compared to many of the other Grand Companies, the Rusted Sons are exceptionally patient, and have used this patience in conjunction with their aptitude for grand strategy to great effect when battling the forces of the Imperium. The most ancient Traitor Astartes of the warband have armour that is truly rusted in place instead of simply painted in the colour, and the dullness of their armour's trim and pauldrons is more a reflection of its age as opposed to any intentional effect. Newer members of the warband mimick their veteran commanders and brothers by intentionally dulling the colour used for the trim and pauldrons, and some go so far as trying to artificially age their armour to make rust on a superficial level.

Serpentine Truth
Serpentine Truth Heretic Astartes
The Serpentine Truth are a mysterious Chaos Warband who claim lineage from the duplicitous Alpha Legion, yet also claim to once be members of the now deceased loyalist Grecians Chapter, specifically its 1st Company, the Cretans. If this claim is true, they would be the last survivors of this once proud Chapter. Officially, not much is known about the Warband's aims and goals, but rumours and speculation show that the Serpentine wish to corrupt their former brother Chapters and plunge Segmentum Pacificus into heretical control. If this goal was to be achieved the heart of the Imperium itself could be threatened and subjected to incursions from the forces of the Ruinous Powers.

Thus, by their service to the Ruinous Powers, they are fulfilling their Gene-Father’s final orders.

The Shackles of Khorne are a ferocious, if oddly lucid, band of Chaos Space Marines and fanatic cultist followers. Led by their enigmatic and devout Dark Apostle, Lord Arkhamos Esephotokylanam, who despite being a devout lord of the Blood God, is as intelligent and cunning as any Tzneetchian tactician. Their goal is to consume the entire galaxy in an orgy of blood and violence, and to this end, recruit as many followers and devotees as they can. As a result, those entering battle with the Shackles of Khorne risk not only their lives, but their souls, as these scions of the blood god will capture alive those enemies they deem worthy, and break them until they are fanatic disciples of Khorne.

Silver Snakes
Silver Snake Astartes
The Silver Snakes are a mysterious Chaos Warband believed to be formed by members from the traitor Alpha Legion, while officially has not been proved their attitude strongly implies it. The number of engagements it is strangely low against Imperial forces and nearly null against Astartes forces. However, it has been confirmed that the Silver Snakes have taken the battlefield against xenos races and other Chaos Warbands for supremacy or other objectives. Some radical minds believe that the Silver Snakes could be secretly loyal, but the mere idea is always dismissed as little more than a naive hope.

Sisters of the Night
Sister of Night
The Sisters of the Night, are a Slaaneshi warband that was created when a small number of Adepta Sororitas were corrupted by Chaos during a joint mission with the Verum Illuminate. These Sisters' original order was the Order of the Dawn but they had taken the oath of Repentance and had joined the ranks of the Repentias. Slowly, whispers of doubt and corruption started poisoning her mind. Julia Sansoucy was the founder of the Sisters of the Night. Being well-liked and a great fighter, she became a role model for the other sisters Repentia. Those who knew her best would follow her without any question so when she fell to Slaanesh, four other sisters followed. They are now a minor Order of Slaanesh, as they called themselves, recruiting civilians and other sisters who would have ended up in a penitent engine or Mortifier, to fill their ranks. The sisters of the Night are fleet-based warband and move from adventure to adventure on a whim but some are stationed in orbit of Slaanesh cult strongholds in order to protect the planet.

Masters of torture, manipulation, and flesh shapers, the Sons of Drahkule are diabolical and calculated in their plans of corruption and seduction as they seek to seep every city and every hive with the blessings of Slaanesh even if they have to use fear to do so. Following the death of their Primarch Horus during the final battle of the Horus Heresy and their subsequent retreat into the Eye of Terror, the Sons of Phthisis were among those who took refuge on the Daemon World of Maleum. After the destruction of Maleum and the splintering of the XVIth Legion, the former Centurion Phobire formed his own warband of those who were still loyal to the memory of their fallen Primarch and led them into hiding on the derelict moon of Phthisis to lick their wounds and escape persecution from Abaddon and the other Legions, hence naming themselves the Sons of Phthisis. Unlike others from their former Legion, the Sons of Phthisis began to worship the Chaos God Slaanesh in an attempt to gain favour from a single God to aid in their survival, the pleasures of Slaanesh also providing pain relief from their cursed existence.

The Strigoi are an infamous Chaos Warband formed in the wake of the death of their Primarch Konrad Curze at the hands of an Imperial assasssin sometime in the 31st Millennium. This caused the Night Lords Legion to fracture into serveral smaller warbands, each of different philosphies and a state of various degrees of Chaos-corruption, led by their own Talon Master. The Strigoi was born during this inter-Legion strife, comprised of various Legionaries who did not favour the use of Chaos or its corrupting influence. Instead, they held to the old ways in honour of their gene-sire's original vision for the VIIIth Legion - to act as judge, jury and executioner over the sinners across the galaxy, bringing their own form of perceived "justice" in the form of unrestrained terror and brutal torture of the wicked.

The History of the Ignited Chaos Astartes Warband had been primarily traced, translated and compiled by the Puritan conclave known as the "Beacons of Light" of the Ordo Malleus, much of the information being procured from a number of both reliable and unreliable sources in equal amounts. Ship captain logs, servitor colonies or public accounts of survivors being among them. The meticulous analysis and compiling of such perhaps meaningless data being overviewed and studied across multiple centuries as to eliminate as much myth and misinformation as possible. To be noted however that the contents of such analysis may be prone to change over time as new information surfices or is re-evaluated if deemed necessary. The Trial is a mysterious Chaos warband dedicated to Khorne known for never uttering a word in battle and preferring to attack other Chaos warbands over imperials or xenos. This odd trait is attributed to their belief that only the strong may fight for Chaos while the weak perish. Thus if a warband shows any sign of weakness such as suffering a humiliating defeat or failing in their objectives, then the Trial will come for them like predators attracted to the scent of blood. There have been many occasions of the Trial being wiped out, either by a strong warband or by themselves, yet they continue to reappear time and time again. As of the 42nd Millennium, the Trial is in its 64th incarnation.

The Unchained Confederation is a chaos warband that was created from the thirst for innovation, power and knowledge. They are a grouping of warbands that no longer believe in the Sanctity or righteousness of the Emperor. They feel that the Emperor's rules and visions bog them down from acquiring the power and knowledge that could make them a Power House in the Universe. Although they do not share knowledge and information between the many parts of the warband, they are quite effective considering their erratic and adaptable fighting style. Not knowing exactly who their leader is, puts them at an advantage for their leader cannot be found and killed to terminate the warband activity and if, by happenstance, she was to be killed, any other member can keep the warband together because only a select few know who the leader is. This warband is very adverse to being bogged down by rules and are quite successful in their mission for knowledge and innovation.
