This article, Fleet-Based Chapters, is a community project. While you are free to edit, please do not edit or delete anything written by another user without their permission. This page was last edited on 3/4/2024 by Algrim Whitefang.

This article is comprised of a complete list of all the fanon Fleet-Based Chapters listed here on the WH40K Homebrew Wiki. Fleet-Based refers to Space Marine Chapters not based on a Chapter homeworld. They possess only a fleet with one of the fleet ships usually serving as their Chapter's mobile Fortress-Monastery. They are naturally among the most mobile Chapters. Some fleet-based Chapters are also called Crusade Chapters. Many Chapters who rebelled at some point but were later granted the Emperor's forgiveness are often fleet-based, crusading Chapters because they were forced to forfeit their homeworld. Included in this list are Expanded Universe Chapters as well as those fleet-based Space Marine Chapters that have been declared Excommunicate Traitoris by the High Lords of Terra, regardless if they serve the Dark Gods or not. This list does not include Space Marine Chapters that fall into the humour category. This is an ongoing project, and as such, additional Chapters will be added or removed accordingly. For those Chapters that are missing from the list, please feel free to edit this article and add it, or if the Chapter article has been deleted, feel free to remove it.

Aardwolves
Aardwolves Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Howl of Darkness The Aardwolves are a fleet-based, loyalist non-Codex compliant Space Marine Successor Chapter created from an unstated lineage and comprised entirely of newly revealed Primaris Space Marines. The Chapter keeps to themselves, preferring to wage their own war against the enemies of Mankind. They choose to never fight alongside other forces of the Imperium or join a battle on the orders of others than themselves.
Abyss Gazers
Abyss Gazers Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Unchanging Fortress (Space Station) The Abyss Gazers are one of the Chapters created during the ill-fated 21st Founding, the so-called 'Cursed Founding'. The Abyss Gazers were founded to police the edges of the Eye of Terror and have only just managed to survive due to both bad luck, mutation, and a section of the chapter breaking away and turning to Chaos. After nearly twice being declared Excommunicate Tratoris, the chapter is now somewhat closely monitored by the Inquisition, much to their ire.
Angels Mortis
Angels Mortis Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Pietas)
Angelus' Fury The Angels Mortis are a devoutly religious 23rd 'Sentinel' Founding chapter who claim the lineage of the First Legion and the bloodline of the holy Primaris Angelus Mortis. The chapter has its own unique view of the Imperial Creed leading them to view the Lion as the first Imperial saint and the Emperor's Angel of Death who will guide them to the Emperor's side. For most of their history the chapter focused on the gathering of holy artefacts linked to the Primaris Angelus Mortis and bringing the word of the God-Emperor to all across the galaxy, whilst mercilessly purging those who refused it. However, their legacy of dedicated and stalwart service has been tarnished by accusing their fellow Unforgiven chapters, the Silver Lions and Ebon Angels, of heresy and collaborating with the Fallen leading to the War of the False Traitor. The Angels Mortis would be defeated in this war and for their ignorance were excommunicated from the Unforgiven and left as a broken chapter. The Angels now seek to repent for their past sins and seek to regain their former grace amongst their fellow Unforgiven.
Angels of Anguish
Angels Anguish Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Eternal Prince The Angels of Anguish is a semi-Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist fleet-based Successor Chapter created from the gene-seed of the ancient and heroic Blood Angels Chapter during the 2nd Founding. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, the Angels of Anguish also carry the genetic Flaw inherited from their Father Sanguinius. The Angels of Anguish, a most peculiar Chapter of the Blood, stand apart from their fellow Successors due to their unique devotion and practice of martial arts. They are renowned for their exceptional skill in unarmed combat, and the Chapter has a strong culture of competition when it comes to dueling and hand-to-hand fighting.
Angels of Twilight
Angels Twilight Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Tenebrae)
Second Penance The Angels of Twilight is a loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the 4th Founding from the lineage of the ancient and aloof Dark Angels. This Chapter is known for rapidly deploying Fire Support Squads deep into enemy lines with Drop Pod assaults; delivering the maximum amount of damage to key enemy personnel and structures as quickly as possible. Like most Chapters of the Unforgiven, the Angels of Twilight are a fleet-based chapter ever on the hunt and tend to steer clear of others - focusing on their own shadowed agendas.
Angels Vampiric
Pict-File Unavailable
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitis Scindere)
Fang of the Cherubim The Angels Vampiric are a non-Codex compliant, fleet-based Successor Chapter of the heroic Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter. Founded around M34 as the result of a failed secretive experiment. The experiment in question was meant to cure the Blood Angels of the dreaded 'Twin-Flaws' known as the Red Thirst and the Black Rage, however, it went horribly wrong and instead amplified these genetic flaws. After the experiment was declared a failure, it was decided that instead of purging the subjects of the experiment, a new chapter would be created from the surviving test-subjects. The highest ranking of these test-subjects, a sergeant by the name Count Orlok took up the position of chapter master of the new chapter. The Angels Vampiric are loyal to the God-Emperor of Mankind, however, they have been known to worship their Primarch Sanguinius more so than they worship the Emperor. They hold the belief that eventually, Sanguinius will return and restore the Emperor to his original power, and together the two of them will lead the Imperium to greatness once again.
Arachnid Warriors
Arachnid Warriors Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
Venom The Arachnid Warriors are a Codex-compliant Chapter formed during the 23rd 'Sentinel' Founding during the 37th Millennium. Formerly declared Renegade (Excommunicate Traitoris) from 345.M41 to 013.M42, the Chapter has since been brought back into the Imperial fold after an investigation by Inquisitorial forces determined the original charges of Heresy against the Chapter proved to be unfounded, as well as the Chapter proving it's loyalty and lack of corruption in the Hyperion War that lasted from 999.M41 to 013.M42.
Archangels of Manasseh
Angels Manasseh Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas ad Mortem)
Jirah The Archangels of Manasseh is an ancient and highly respected Loyalist Successor Chapter that hails from the lineage of the heroic and stalwart Ultramarines. Created in the wake of the tragic events of the Horus Heresy and the subsequent dissolution of the Legiones Astartes, the Archangels were created during the 2nd Founding. The Archangels of Manasseh were one of several 'Primogenitor Chapters' created during this time. The Ultramarines maintained the XIIIth Legion's original name, badge and colours, while the remaining created Chapters took new names and heraldry. Shorn of their past history and livery, the Archangels were free to forge their own path. However, due to the destruction of their planet, they have become a fleet-based chapter.
Armageddon Sons
Armageddon Sons Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Scindere)
Avenging Will The Armageddon Sons are an ancient Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created from the vaunted heritage of the honourable Ultramarines. Officially, this Chapter was listed as being created during the 3rd Founding, however, scant evidence indicates that this Chapter might have been created much earlier as there are scattered reports of them first appearing in the early years of M32. The truth of the matter is much darker, and is no known outside the Chapter. The origins of the Armageddon Sons actually harkens back much earlier, to a bygone age when the Imperium first took the stars and conquered the known galaxy. Unknown to anyone, save the Emperor Himself, is that the Armageddon Sons were in fact descended from a small loyalist element from the Sons of Horus that managed to hide their allegiance and escape before the events of the Isstvan III Atrocity.
Ashborne Drakes
AsheborneDrakesArmorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
The Foundry The Ashborne Drakes are a Loyalist Successor Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes created from the lineage of the heroic Salamanders Chapter. They were created during the 19th Founding in M36, to help defend the realm of the Emperor of Mankind from the threat of both heretics and xenos.
Ashen Apostles
Ashen Apostles Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
Iron Library The Ashen Apostles are a Loyalist non-Codex compliant Space Marine chapter descended from an unknown parent Chapter founding during the 21st 'Cursed' Founding. The chapter earns the distrust of other chapters simply being born during the time of the Cursed founding, however, is not the only thing that earns them the distrust of other Astartes. The Apostles' preference for diplomacy rather than all-out war which has made war-loving chapters such as the Space Wolves and Black Templars dislike the Apostles even more. When in and out of battle the Apostles are some of the most fanatical worshipers to the God-Emperor of all Astartes, because of this many of the worlds the Chapter has conquered are now highly religious due to the Apostles' influences.
Ashen Heralds
Ashen Heralds Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
Vengeance Reborn The Ashen Heralds are an ancient Chapter of Space Marines of unclear origin and descent. Through the chapter’s long history of service, it has earned a reputation for fielding pragmatic, stoic marines, intent on waging war on the foes of the Imperium with a cold fury. The earliest history of the Ashen Heralds is largely unknown, much information on them was lost in the wake of catastrophic losses against the forces of Chaos that left the chapter on the verge of extinction. Through the grace of the Salamanders chapter, which loaned veterans and officers to guide the few surviving Heralds in raising the next generation of neophytes, the chapter survived, and has gone on to wage war in the name of the Emperor for millennia.
Ashen Thanes
Ashen Thanes Armorial
Imeprium of Man
(Fedelitas Sine Recursu)
Star Keeper The Ashen Thanes are one of the oldest, non-founding chapters in the Imperium. Created sometime during the 4th or 5th Founding, and from uncertain lineage, they were formerly known as the Iron-Bound Thanes, and are the parent chapter of the Exalted Paladins. Unfortunately most of the early records of the Iron-Bound Thanes were lost in the destruction of the Chapter's original fortress-monastery, Tol Elmoth, in M37 when the Blood God-worshipping World Eaters Traitor Legion attacked their homeworld, Taur-Hithlum. Rebuilding in the aftermath of this devastating attack, the Chapter reforged their sorely depleted ranks and renamed themselves the Ashen Thanes. Since that tragic era, the Ashen Thanes have gone on to become a well-respected Chapter. Following the fall of Cadia and the formation of the Great Rift, the Ashen Thanes' entire home system has seemingly vanished. The current whereabouts of the Chapter is unknown.
Astra Romana
Astra Romana Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Imperium Invictus The Astra Romana or in Low Gothic, the 'Sentinels of Ultramar', is a Loyalist Successor Chapter created from the lineage of the venerable Ultramarines. They were created during the 23rd Founding, otherwise known as the 'Sentinel Founding', in order to strengthen the Imperium's defenses during the late 37th Millennium. Early in the Chapter's history, they found fragments of records that were written by the Ancient Terran Romanii on one of their voyages. In order to pay homage to this civilization that was unfortunately extinct, they decided to adopt their culture into their own Chapter.
Astral Canids
Astral Canids Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
The Kennel Many have been the possible origins proposed for the Astral Canids, though none can have been ascertained. Though the Astral Canids are officially registered as part of the Fourth Founding, right after the conflict knowns as 'the War of the Beast' and in the context of the coup known as 'the Beheading', these records are contradictory with the battle records of that conflict, for they shown that a Chapter with the same name and livery answered to Lord Commander Koorland's summoning to enact the 'Last Wall' protocol. The Astral Canids answered to that call as all the descendants of Dorn did. However, they denied belonging to that gene-lineage.
(Note: This Chapter falls under the Expanded Universe category.)
Astral Carbines
Astral Carbines Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
Unwavering Bolt The Astral Carbines are an Ultramarines Successor chapter founded during 27th 'Ultima' Founding, composed primarily of Primaris Space Marines. The Astral Carbines were hailed for numerous victories, overcoming hardships which would've broken most people. However, their strength and virtue did not last forever; the Astral Carbines were fractured, as the Warband Arcane Reavers was borne from the Astral Carbines' traumatizing experience in the Warp. The loyalist Astral Carbines gave their all to defeat their fallen brothers, with the final battle being on the planet of Casimus. The Astral Carbines slowly but surely rebuilt after a 25 year Penitent Crusade, with Casimus officially became the home-world of the Astral Carbines.
Astral Reapers
Astral Reapers Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Tenebrae)
Pit of Death When the xenos, daemons, and heretics feel themselves victorious against mankind, then come the black hooded enforcers of the Emperor's will, as silent as the dead of night, to break both the enemy's morale and bodies, and they shall gloat nevermore. They are the Astral Reapers, sons of the Primarch Corvus Corax, born during the 3rd Founding. Having no home world to call their own and being a crusading chapter, these descendants of the Raven Guard wage stealth and guerrilla warfare against the enemies of mankind as the shadow-draped dagger of the Emperor's justice.

Baleful Boars
Baleful Boars Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Atrox Extremis)
The Butcher The Baleful Boars is a very small and endangered Loyalist non-Codex compliant Space Marine Successor Chapter created from the lineage of the Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter during a unstated founding at the end of M37. It was created to counter the threat of the 7th Black Crusade in 811.M37, when Abaddon the Despoiler and his forces assaulted the Segmentum Obscurus. Since their inception, the Baleful Boars have writ a blood-soaked saga of fell deeds and numerous atrocities down the long millennia of their existence. Walking a precarious path between purity and damnation, only time will tell whether or not the numerous excesses committed by the Baleful Boars in the Emperor's name will be their downfall, and eventually they are declared renegades by the High Lords of Terra.
Bears of the Claw
BoC Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Sine Recursu)
Ferrus Ursus A feral and Chapter created during the 20th Founding from uncertain lineage, this Chapter only numbers 700 Astartes. Despite their smaller size, their ferocity and stubbornness in the face of overwhelming odds, more than makes up for their lack of numbers.
The Betrayed
Betrayed Armorial
Ruinous Powers
(Traitoris Perdita)
Might of Santiro The Betrayed is a relatively new Chaos Warband whose pirating ways are proving to become more dangerous for the Imperium with each passing year. Until 950.M41, The Betrayed was known as the Sworn of Guilliman, the sole known successor Chapter of the Metamarines. Since the near annihilation of the Chapter in the events the now-rebellious Astartes call the Betrayal, The Betrayed is slowly drifting toward pure chaotic corruption, even if its members are still far from true believers, instead favouring the use of minor daemons as auxiliaries in their raids.
Black Knights
Black Knights SP
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Tenebrae)
Wrath of Caliban The Black Knights are an ancient and proud Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created from the lineage of the secretive and mighty Dark Angels Legion of old. They were created during the Second Founding following the dissolution of the Space Marine Legions after the events of the Horus Heresy. A fleet-based crusading Chapter, they follow in the footsteps of the Lion and their Progenitors, and will not rest until every single Fallen Angel has been hunted down and brought back to the Rock, interrogated, and granted extreme unction. As a crusading Chapter, their doctrines, traditions, and organisation reflect their particular approach to prosecuting the Imperium's wars. The Black Knights are wont to become embroiled in battles that other forces would have little hope of winning. They are unrelenting in their persecution of the Emperor's foes, reserving a particular loathing for the Traitor Legions and those who make truck with the Ruinous Powers. The Black Knights absolutely refuse to retreat in the face of any foe, however, this stubbornness has often come at a high price. The Astartes of this Chapter are grim and dour, with all their warriors wearing battle-plate of jet-black and deep red. Extant reports, however, indicate that this Chapter wields all manner of ancient relics and holy patterns of armour, weapons, and vehicles not commonly seen on the battlefields of the modern era.Imperium's wars.
Black Reapers
Black Reapers Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Scindere)
Bastion of Hope The Black Reapers are a semi-Codex compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of an unknown gene-seed, having much of their ancient history having been lost. They heavily favour the usage of terminators in combat, and as such, they have become venerated items in the chapter's armoury, alongside their dreadnoughts. They roam the stars in their massive star fortress the Bastion of Hope, forging a reputation for helping individuals in strife, even going against orders of authority to help those in strife, and many people who fight for the imperium look to the skies in times of trouble, awaiting the time when drop pods should rain down, delivering the Emperor's justice.
Blade Spectres
Blade Spectres Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Tenebrae)
Ever Shade The Blade Spectres are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter descended from the lineage of the shadowy Raven Guard. They are a newer Chapter comprised entirely of newly-revealed Primaris Space Marines. They were created as a part of the recent Ultima Founding to take part in the Indomitus Crusade and to stand as a bulwark against the enemies of Mankind.
Bladehounds
Bladehounds Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Scindere)
Sword of Conquest The Bladehounds are a loyalist Space Marine Chapter founded during the Ultima Founding as a fleet-based chapter. Offically they are descended from the venerable First Founding White Scars, but studies of their gene-seed and tactics have left unfortunate rumours to circulate about them. The Bladehounds are known for their martial skill in close-combat, with most battle-brothers of the chapter being reputable chain-sword duelists, and are noted members of the Tempestus Wardens, a coalition of chapters founded in the aftermath of the Ruinous Crusade.
Blades of Onyx
Blackshield Armorial Blades of Onyx
Flexible as they are mercenaries for hire. Will not take contracts that bring them into conflict with the Imperium of Man.
(Fedelitas Tenebrae)
Anabasis The Blades of Onyx are a mysterious band of mercenary Astartes that have exiled themselves from the Imperium and sell their services to Rogue Traders and various xenos races. Their origins are unknown to the modern-era Imperium, however some Imperial scholars point to extant records and various eye-witness accounts, placing them throughout various events that have occurred throughout Imperial history for the last ten millennia. This would mean that their true origins more than likely harken back to the dark days of the Horus Heresy during the Age of Darkness.
Blades of Resurgence
Blades Resurgence Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Loyalty Unbound The Blades of Resurgence are one of the many loyalist and Codex-compliant space marine chapters created from the gene-seed of Rogal Dorn, primarch of the Imperial Fists. Born from the much-neglected 17th Founding, the Blades of Resurgence are perhaps one of the most noble and valiant space marine chapters to have ever existed. However, they do have a hatred of the also prideful Reclaimers of Dorn, creating a little rift between various factions and organisations of the Imperium.

Blood Wyverns
Blood Wyverns Armorial
Chaos Undivided
(Traitoris Maximus)
Ancalagon The Blood Wyverns are a notorious Chaos Warband in the service of Chaos Undivided. They were formerly a Loyalist Chapter of the ill-fated 21st 'Cursed' Founding going by the same name. They presumably come from the gene-stock of Roboute Guilliman, though this remains unconfirmed. Despite the fact there were no physical or mental defects with this Chapter, the fear and suspicion of the Imperium had caused them to go rouge when the Blood Wyverns had come to blows with an Inquisitorial Task Force. For the sin of daring to attack representatives of the Inquisition, they were declared renegades. Making their retreat to the farthest edges of Segmentum Pacificus, the Blood Wyverns soon turned to Chaos, however the Warband prefers to keep Chaos at arm's length.

Themselves
(Traitoris Perdita)
Fiery Massacre The Bloodsworn are a formerly Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created from unknown lineage during the 4th Founding in the middle-centuries of M32, following the near-disastrous War of the Beast. Tragically, this Chapter's service to the Emperor of Mankind was very brief, as after only a few decades, there were reports of this Chapter's overzealous prosecution in their duties, leaving formerly rebellious worlds as bloody abattoirs in the wake of their planetary assaults. After being declared renegades, this Chapter has embraced their status as outcast, launching periodic raids against Imperial merchant vessels and isolated worlds. They also work as mercenaries for hire for unscrupulous heretics.

Being few in number, the Blue Hand have sought to raise heretical cults on worlds across the Ultima Segmentum. Such cults are known as The Cult of the Blue Hand of Tzeentch. They are dedicated to the Chaos God of change, as are the Blue Hand Marines, and incorporate the Warband’s eponymous sigil into their iconography. The Blue Hand Space Marine Chapter was a respected loyalist force for millenia, before their fall to Chaos. Now, those few Imperials who know of their existence speak their name with the deepest scorn and the fiercest hatred.

Formerly known as the Revenant Lords, this young and bellicose Chapter soon garnered an infamous reputation for savage displays of barbarity and unsubstantiated rumours of bloody rituals. After several centuries of such behaviour, they were formally censured by the High Lords of Terra. It wasn't until 910.M41, that the Chapter's true nature was brought to light, revealing them as inheritors of Sanguinius. Slowly accepting their progenitor's traditions and customs, the Chapter still struggle to curb the worst excesses of the Chapter's inherited warrior culture and blood practices.

Brazen Bulls Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Totalis)
Concord of Steel The Brazen Bulls were a 21st 'Cursed' Founding, Codex-compliant chapter founded right before the Age of Apostasy from the lineage of the merciless and unforgiving Iron Hands. Originally meant to patrol an area of space north of the Eye of Terror, the Bulls arrived along with another Cursed Founding chapter, the Fell Hands. The two fleet-based chapters cut down on raiding activity in the region for centuries, even managing to skirmish with forces on the edge of the Eye of Terror itself. However, even the resources of two Astartes chapters were spread thin in several sectors, and with the Age of Apostasy in full force the Fell Hands and Brazen Bulls were largely left on their own. After the Fell Hands eventually turned renegade, the Brazen Bulls fought against their former allies and battle-brothers, eventually scattering them into the Eye of Terror at the cost of their own chapter.

Although officially their Founding is Unknown, they supposedly dated back to the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras. Caustic Reach
Caustic Reach SP
Imperium of Man
(Fedelitas Constantus)
The Maw The Caustic Reach are a small Adeptus Astartes Chapter created during the 21st Founding, the so-called 'Cursed Founding', from existing (presumably Raven Guard) gene-seed which was modified to counteract the high potency of Tyranid poisons and toxins these foul xenos commonly employed. Given the gene-seed the scientists managed to create a genetic resistance to the Tyranid poisons and toxins via unprecedented mutation which causes an overproduction of toxins and poisons within these Astartes bodies, which are then transferred to the Betcher's Glands within their mouths, causing them to 'drool' these poisons uncontrollably. This Chapter currently stands at approximately 350 Astartes, their forces severely depleted at the hands of Hive Fleet Kraken, though their exact numbers remain uncertain.
Celestial Stars
Celestial Stars Armorial
Imperium of Man
(Fidelitas Totalis)
Sons of Penance The Celestial Stars is a Space Marine Successor Chapter known for its adherence to the Codex Astartes. They trace their origins back to the Shield Bearers, a previous Chapter whose members were sent on a hundred-year penitent crusade. Upon completing their penance, these veterans formed the initial command cadre of the Celestial Stars. The exact time of the Chapter's founding remains uncertain. Throughout its history, the Chapter has gained recognition for its courageous deeds and selfless sacrifices among its fellow Chapters. The past experiences have instilled in the Celestial Stars an unwavering determination to atone for the actions of their brethren, which fuels their zealous pursuit of redemption. The support of like-minded chapters has bolstered their resolve as they continue their battle across the vast expanse of the cosmos, confronting both familiar and unfamiliar adversaries.

Imperial scholars speculate this Chapter to have possibly been created as early as the 2nd Founding, following the end of Great Scouring in 021.M31. They are inhuman monsters, vicious and violent beyond what is expected even of Astartes, their armour covered in macabre images of death and terror. These vicious Astartes have even been compared to the murderous Night Lords Traitor Legion, and the similarities between them have led many to claim that it is more than just coincidence, for unlike other Chapters that bring hope to worlds, the Chiroptera Legion does not come to liberate, they do not come to save - they come to bring judgement and to punish.

The Clink (Flagship) The Condemned are an ancient and venerable Chapter supposedly created during the Second Founding as a rare Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard following the end of the Horus Heresy and subsequent Great Scouring. In an effort to make better use of incorrigible youth whom were often toughened, resilient children, a progressive amongst the High Lords of Terra decreed that he would demonstrate that enforcing the Pax Imperialis could provide an even greater benefit to the Imperium. He did this by creating a specialist Chapter with recruits drawn from the Imperium's criminal youth. Named the Condemned, this newly formed Chapter was expected by many not to last a single generation, however, this chapter of child thieves, gangers and murderers has instead prevailed through the annals of time in obscurity and against adversity, proving that reformation and redemption can be found in service of the Emperor in glorious battle and, ultimately, in death.

Originally as a chapter their propensity for fighting alone was likely through some strange form of pride or repentance, perhaps for their first Chapter Master's failure in their first independent battle, but over time this disposition has been strengthened by repeated betrayals from close allies.

The Ebon Host adopted many ways from their forebears however refused to incorporate the unique 1st and 2nd Companies, instead staying Codex-compliant, for a time. It was not three centuries after their founding that their entire chapter seemed to change, traditions stripped away and replaced, seemingly changing their organization for little reason, and the abandonment of any hope to settle their chapter, instead using a newly acquired vessel as their Fortress Monastery. Unlike many Space Marine Chapters they tend to eschew hand-to-hand combat, choosing instead to annihilate their enemies with devastating hails of bolts, plasma, and lascannon fire. While their lack of hand-to-hand combat estranges them from some chapters, such as the zealous Black Templars, it has allowed them to forge some mutually beneficial alliances with close combat oriented chapters such as the Angels of Rebirth.

However, these staunch defenders of the Imperium know their real heritage, and keep the secret close to their chests, doing much to prevent those who have prying eyes like those of the Inquisition from discovering these truths until the time is right. Though supposedly successors of the Gorgon they are siege and heavy weapons specialists, as well as capable architects. These Marines are no strangers to fortifying locations and assisting destroyed worlds to rebuild their homes. Many of the Iron Strategoi have augmentations though not as many as their respected Iron Hands counterparts, they as well rely on a higher number of Techmarines and large amounts of heavy tanks such as the Astraeus Super-Heavy Tank.

Presumably - like their forebears and brother Chapters, the Keepers are part of the Unforgiven - the brotherhood of Chapters that hunt the Fallen Angels. However, they are distant from their fellow Unforgiven, not because of a grudge or spite, but because of their creation. Despite the tactic approval of the High Lords of Terra the Chapter's creation, their inception is mired in classification and mystery. What is known is that the Keepers have always stood vigil over a wandering planetoid named "Thessalon" from a great space station acting as their Fortress Monastery of Caelestis Castellum. The Keepers of the Accord maintains a rather high number of Techmarines among their ranks, and thus have an impressive quantity of Land Raider patterns in their armory.

They belong to the gene-line of Lion El'Jonson, which makes them a part of the Unforgiven successors of the Dark Angels Legion. They are, for the most part, adherent to the structures of the Codex Astartes, though many of their methods are somewhat unorthodox when stood beside other Space Marine Chapters. Whenever the Chapter comes to the aid of a beleaguered system or fights alongside other Imperial forces, they will demand compensation for the blood they shed. To replenish the high numbers of men, equipment, and other resources they expend, the officers of the Kharonean Martyrs will name a steep price to whoever possesses the means to pay them. It is merely their due reward, for a debt incurred through the sacrifice of Astartes lives, and so they feel little shame about taking what is rightfully theirs.

The Ordo Astartes consider the Rampart Boars to be a valuable asset in the destruction of xenos threats, particularly the prevention of and even removal of Orks from planets and the destruction of Genestealer Cult threats from Hive Fleet Orthrus. The initiates of the chapter are known for being tall, with abnormally thick bones and a large oddly proportioned musculature from genetic inclusions they refer to inaccurately as "atavisms". Their physical strength is covered with only a thin veneer of nobility over their savage, and often unstable minds.

Unknown The Raven Sons are a Codex-compliant fleet-based Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard created during the Ultima Founding, ca.999 M41. They were created to serve as a buffer force to the Astra Militarum, often being deployed onto the same battlefields to "eliminate" enemy leaders and supply lines. They also support the overall firepower of the forces of the Astra Militarum. The chapter is known for its non-standard recruitment system, often taking young Aspirants from saved imperial worlds, calling them the "warborn", believing these children were born to fight. This often raises disputes within singular squads as it's hard to get people of different worlds and cultures to adapt to the same strategies and views of warfare quickly.

With this mixture of gene-seed, the Chapter is known to favour both stalwart defensive and rapid offensive tactics, often making it seem like a wave forcing sand to crash into an immovable wall. So this chapter specializes in mounted warfare, aerial and naval warfare, defensive warfare, and siege warfare as well as supporting a series of specialized combat teams similar to the Kill-Teams utilised by the xenos-hunting Deathwatch. They began their first combat action, as a Chapter, in 111.M42 in the Kaladin System to relieve the besieged capital world of Ardialan. There they continue to fight an ongoing action against a Chaos invasion of an Iron Warriors Grand Company under Warsmith Khazor.

Tyrian Fury The Void Wardens are a Loyalist Raven Guard Successor Chapter founded during the 10th Founding in the M35. The Tempest Eye The Voidborne are a Successor Chapter to the White Scars. Founded during the 19th Founding in mid-M36, their designated purpose and charge was, and still remains, to crusade on the very borders of the Imperium, deep in the cold of interstellar space where they engage the fleets of heretics, xenos, and mutants alike and bring them to ruin. A fleet-based chapter by design and choice as opposed to circumstance, the Voidborne operate almost exclusively in space and specializes in its many tactical intricacies. Void combat, boarding actions, and rapid assaults are their passion and they lean into it with all the fury and joy of their Primarch.

Purgator The Wardens of Annihilation is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. They possess a storied history characterized by resilience and tenacity. Their origins trace back to M31, during the Great Scouring when they were created from the gene-seed of Rogal Dorn's Imperial Fists. Create during the 3rd Founding, the newly incepted Chapter was named the "Wardens of Vigilance" due to their dedication to maintaining Imperial vigilance over the Segmentum Solar. This name has changed, however, after the disaster at the Fall of Cadia and their Chapter's threatened extinction; the aftermath of which saw the chapter's remnants rename themselves the "Wardens of Annihilation".

Sol Invitus The Wardens of Orask are a 7th Founding Successor Chapter of the honourable Ultramarines. The Wardens were one of several Adeptus Astartes Chapters created to help quell an unknown xenos threat from beyond the Imperium's borders in the Eastern Fringe, known as the Ghoul Stars, which threatened the security of that region of the galaxy. Due to their valiant efforts, they were recognised and fêted by the High Lords of Terra and were granted the honour of garrisoning the sentinel world of Orask, a battlefront and bastion that has guarded the Imperium from the terrors beyond.

Kastea The Warstalkers (High Gothic: Bellum Venatorii) is a loyalist, Codex Astartes compliant Adeptus Astartes Chapter raised sometime during the Age of Apostasy (ca. M36). As the only known successors of the Royal Herculeans, they bear gene-stocks of the Ultramarines and their progenitor, Primarch Roboute Guilliman. From the advantage a fleet-based Chapter provides, the Warstalkers shouldered their duty to protect the Imperium's people in the spinward regions of Segmentum Pacificus from xenos, heretics, and traitor Astartes alike. They share the same goals as all Astartes chapters do and do their best to maintain friendly relations, especially with other Scion-Chapters of the War-Born such as the Swords of Guilliman. Though they are not as old as the Swords of Guilliman, they do their best to attain such glories and honors as the 2nd Founding Chapter. The Warstalkers adhere to the tenets of the Codex with a religious ferver that is difficult to match, praising the God-Emperor of Mankind at every opportunity.

(To be added) The Winged Knights are a Loyalist, non-Codex-compliant Space Marine Chapter drawn from the lineage of the vaunted Blood Angels during the 4th Founding. Though their lineage is clear, the exact Chapter from which they can claim to be the successors of is not. It has long been suspected that they are a Successor Chapter of the Angels Sanguine, the truth of that suspicion has yet to be confirmed. Though they were a Chapter of great honour for approximately two millennia, the stain of heresy has marred their reputation and they have never been able to escape the its legacy.

Claiming to have lost faith in the Imperium, the World Marauders have survived through piracy, raiding ships, stations, outposts and worlds for supplies, weapons and even recruits. While not aligned with Chaos, they are neither allies of the Imperium of Man, though they have been known to work alongside the latter in certain circumstances.

The Majestic Tyrant The Zealot Scythes are a Loyalist fleet-based Chapter of Space Marines on a never ending crusade, created shortly after the Reign of Blood during an unknown founding using the gene-stock of the Primarch Vulkan, to destroy those who would go against the Ecclesiarchy. They often teeter between outcasts and brutal allies with most Imperial organizations, constantly carving a scorched path of devastation across those that turn from the light of the God-Emperor regardless of who they may be.
