The Fangs of Vidar, or in Fenrisian the 'Tannar Vidargaard', are one of the numerous Successor Chapters that were created during the Ultima Founding that occurred following the apocalyptic 13th Black Crusade that saw the destruction of Cadia itself and the expansion of the infamous warp rift known as the Cicatrix Maledictum.
Chapter History:[]
The Chapter was forged in the shadow of the galaxy's near collapse and were born during the Ultima founding, that was issued forth by order of the resurrected Primarch Roboute Guilliman. As they were created from Primaris Space Marines and had the gene-seed of the Space Wolves, instead of being portrayed as the rambunctious sons of Russ, they instead emerged as grim and silent avatars of retribution.
Ever since the battle-brothers awoke within Cawl's flagship the Zar Quaesitor, the Chapter was marked by an entirely different demeanor, one that was more introspective, more controlled and deeply shaped by the mythic symbolism of their namesake Vidar, that was the silent god of Vengeance in Fenrisian saga. They were deployed as a fleet-based Chapter and were tasked with the patrolling of the zones that surrounded the Eye of Terror and were known were striking fast and vanishing like a cold wind, their silence before battle was as terrifying to the enemy as the storm that was unleashed afterwards.
Notable Campaigns:[]

The chapter was tasked with reclaiming Imperial Worlds that were infested with Chaos and Xenos foes. This meant they faced everything from heretical enclaves to uprisings from Genestealer cults. These early battles were fought in the ruins of Space Hulks eventually created the Chapter's combat doctrine that combined elements of close-quarters combat, lightning strikes as well as Thunderhawk Assaults and Stealth operations.
- Incursion of the Ashen Maw(007.M42-010.M42): When the Chapter's librarians were able to detect numerous warp storms in the Adrastor Reach Subsector in the Segmentum Obscurus, they were deployed to contain an incursion that was led by a Thousand Son sorcerer known as Tholazeth the Shimmering. The traitors sought to uncover the ancient arcana that was located with the planet of Vlahos Prime as it was known for containing lost archeotech vaults. The Chapter fought alongside numerous Astra Militarum Regiments as well as the Tempestus Scions although the Scions heavy-handed methods and lack of transparency were known for causing tensions. They eventually executed a series of stealth operations and infiltrated numerous bastions and battled within the ruins of the hive world. During the battle of Hive Adrastor, their Chapter Master Bjorn led a strike team and despite him being victorious, he was grievously wounded by fire that was used by the infamous Chaos Sorcerer. He was eventually returned to the Chapter's flagship where he eventually underwent the Perilous Rubicon and emerged months later as a Primaris Marine.
- Campaign of the Crimson Gate(010.M42-012.M42): The Chapter's 5th Company and the elements of the 1st Company were deployed to the Vintermarkt System and it was known for being frigid and a ash choked cluster of worlds. They eventually found out the Forge World of Meharis was being invaded by a Khornate Iron Warrior Warband known as the Steel Butchers. This infamous warband was led by the Warpsmith known as Galax Thurn and their tactics combined the utilization of daemon engines alongside trench warfare, mass bombardments and the razing of hive cities to construct fortresses known as Red Bastions. The Chapter utilized Phobos armored kill teams, Thunderhawk Assaults as well as Stealth and lightning raids to Strick at their foes supply lines and artillery lines.

The planet is described as being a realm of endless winter, tectonic upheaval and hostile wildlife and hostile wildlife, essentially making the planet a near mirror image to Fenris itself in both brutality and beauty. The skies are darkened by eternal clouds, that's only broken by violent lightning storms that ignite the heavens in shades of white and violet.
The massive glaciers have been known for crashing into boiling magma within the planets equator, that sends plumes of superheated ice into the sky. The native humans have been known for living alongside the cliffs and frozen camps in the tundra and surviving by hunting monstrous beasts. It's a land that breeds hardship, resilience and a cunning nature that's perfect for the aspirants needed for the cold vengeance of the Chapter.
Fortress-Monastery:[]
The chapter's main fortress monastery would be a Battle Barge known as Ulfgardr. It functions as their spiritual and martial heart of the Chapter while acting as their mobile command hub, ever prowling the edges of the Segmentum Obscurus. Chapter Beliefs:[]
The chapter has been known for rejecting the Emperors divinity as they instead view him as instead revere him as a being known as the all father that's the progenitor and whose wisdom, strength and will reshaped the galaxy. They essentially view that elevating the emperor into godhood is a betrayal of his original teachings and a lapse into superstition and dogma that weakens humanities resolve. They believe that Mankind must stand on it's own strength, not kneel in blind faith. As a result of the Chapter rejecting the Emperor's divinity, this has set them apart with the Ecclesiarchy and other zealous Imperial institutions. They honor the Emperor with numerous rituals, battle chants and feats of valor as they consider service not supplication the greatest form of veneration.
Another belief the Chapter has would be their distrust towards psykers, that's born from their lineage and the horrors they've witnessed wrought by uncontrolled sorcery. While they maintain the necessity of psykers, especially in the form of the Vardmagi, their equivalent of the Rune Priests used by their progenitors, they treat them with caution and suspicion. Psychic aspirants are taught ancient rites and are expected to undergo the creation of rigorous mental fortifications and ritual trials. They're known for their secluded nature and their presence is accepted but never fully embraced.
Gene-Seed[]
The chapter bears the lineage of the Space Wolves and their lineage is traced directly to the sons of Leman Russ, the Wolf King of Fenris. As they were one of the many Ultima Founding chapters, they were born from Primaris Space Marines that were crafted by Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl who preserved and refined the gene-codes of all known loyalist Legions over ten thousand years. Despite Cawl's initial attempts at stabilization, the Canis Helix still remains a defining and dangerous trait in the gene-seed of the Chapter.
This biological element has been known for imbuing them with heightened senses, animalistic reflexes and a feral aggression, qualities that're both celebrated and feared among their ranks. Their eyes gleam like wolves beneath their helms and their voices carry a growl not born of technology.
Genetic Flaws:[]
The most prominent flaw that the Chapter has inherited from their Space Wolf progenitors would be the Curse of the Wulfen, a primal mutation that's born from the Canis Helix. Over time or under extreme stress, some battle-brothers succumb to the savage, lupine instincts that're buried within their gene-code. These warriors have been known for undergoing a grotesque transformation as they essentially become feral killing machines. The Chapter has been known for treating the battle-brothers afflicted with this curse with a grim sense of duty as they're banded into an elite company that's under strict supervision.
Combat Doctrine:[]
The Chapter specializes in a combat doctrine that's centered on close quarters combat, lightning strikes and stealth operations. This deadly blend of aggression and cunning nature reflects both their primal instincts and their unique experiences that shaped them during their early years as Greyshields in the Indomitus Crusade. The chapter embraced the idea that to fight like a predator, they must learn how to stalk like them, meaning they're known for being quiet and unseen and deadly before they strike for the kill.
Close quarters combat remains their primary focus as blade, claw and bolter are brought to bear in tight savage engagements while Lightning strikes are guided by their librarians foresight abilities and sensor disruption that allows them to overrun and destabilize enemy positions before heavier reinforcements arrive. However, their proficiency in stealth can be traced back to their early battles alongside Raven Guard Greyshields, where elements of both gene-lines were forced to cooperate in difficult theatres that included urban ruins, dense underhive complexes and even boarding actions where subtlety was required as much as raw power.
Even though the chapter was culturally distinct they found a kindred pragmatism with their Raven Guard counterparts. They eventually learned the value of striking from the shadows by flanking unseen, eliminating high value targets in silence and the sabotaging of enemy logistics before launching their signature howling assaults.
Deathwatch Service:[]
The Chapter has been known for acknowledging the necessity of the Deathwatch and their participation remains limited and carefully controlled especially in dealings with the Ordo Malleus who the Chapter has been knowing for viewing with a suspicion. Despite this, they're known for collaborating with the Ordo Xenos, as they see this group as the more pragmatic branch of the inquisition. They respect that the Deathwatch has been known for their brutal efficiency in the combatting of enemy threats and accept that fighting the xenos menace serves the Imperium's broader survival.
However, when when the Chapter does send battle-brothers to the Vigil, these are often experienced hunters and are seasoned warriors with battlefield experience and a cunning nature and they're selected not just for their martial prowess, but for their discipline and spiritual resilience. Service has been known for lasting 50 and 100 years, with warriors expected to absorb and share xenos hunting tactics and strategies upon their return.
Notable Space Marines:[]
- Hǫfuðulfr (Chapter-Master) Bjorn Erikson: Originally a firstborn warrior of the Space Wolves, he crossed the Rubicon Primaris following him sustaining grievous wounds while fighting against the Chapter's hated foes, the Thousand Sons. As he was known for his stoic rage and tactical insight he was chosen as the leader of the Chapter during the Ultima Founding. Unlike the Space Wolves, he's been known for being a man of measured fury and a silent hunter whose wrath is thunderous only when unleashed.
- Gadkari (Chief Librarian) Jorund: He's the chief librarian of the chapter and acts a rune-seer and spiritual soothsayer. His talents have been known for being viewed with caution. Despite this, he offers guidance through sagas, omens and the augers onboard the Chapter's ships.

Relations[]
Allies:[]
| Space Wolves: | |
As the chapter is one of the numerous successors of the Space Wolves, they share a distinct and powerful bond. Even though they differ in combat doctrines with their preferences in stealth and lightning warfare, they're still bound by blood through the Canis Helix. The two have been known for working together on joint hunts have been known for cementing a mutual respect although the fangs more silent and brooding disposition can been seen as strange to their forebears. |
| Adeptus Mechanicus: | |
The chapter shares a functional alliance with the Adeptus Mechanicus as the tech-priests are known for their shared technological endeavors as they maintain the chapter's fleet and the mainting of their armor. Even though the chapter has been known for their mysticism and secrecy, the Mechanicus has been known for seeing the Chapter as worthy heirs of war machines. |
| Imperial Knights: | |
The Chapter has numerous ties with Knight Houses and one of those would be House Harbjorn that was forged during a joint campaign when they were working together during the defense of a key forge-world during the Indomitus Crusade. Ever since that campaign, this particular knight house has been known for answering their calls for war, and the Chapter has been known for honoring oaths of vengeance that were sworn by their counterparts. |
| Raven Guard: | The chapter developed a mutual respect with the Raven Guard during early deployment when they were Greyshields and where both forces were tempered in lightning raids and shadow warfare. Enemies:[]
| Thousand Sons: | The Chapter harbors an enduring hatred for this infamous Chaos Legion that mirrors their progenitors, the Space Wolves. They see Magnus and his sons as traitors twice, the first was towards the Imperium and the second as towards humanity itself. | Chaos Space Marines | |
The Chapter has been known for fighting against these foul heretics and a notable foe of theirs would be known as the Forsaken Flame. Led by their Chaos Lord Kjaros Dreadpyre, this former Space Wolf turned to chaos as he was disillusioned following the Months of Shame. After his fall to chaos, he became aligned with the Red Corsairs and has been known for scavenging Gene-Seed from loyalist marines that include the Space Wolves. |
| Orks: | |
