- "We shall purge the enemies of man who tainted our brethren into abominations without a soul, left at the mercy of fate. Destroying the pride and honor of Astartes, making them hated through the Imperium forging lies and deceiving about them. WE ARE THEIR AVENGERS!"
- — Unknown Chaplain of the Dragons Sanguine
The Dragons Sanguine were a Successor Chapter of the vaunted and noble Blood Angels. Created in M35, during the turmoil at the start of the Nova Terra Interregnum, the High Lords of Terra said a new founding must be created in order to pacify any rebellions that started to occur. The Dragons Sanguine were one of those chapters that arose during the 9th Founding. The Chapter was created in the Segmentum Tempestus in order to train for the time when they must be called to bring the Emperor's justice on those who left the Emperor's light. As their first mission the chapter participated in the Axon Crusade 50 years after they were created.
The Chapter met its end at the Hands of a deamonic incursion provocated by several chaos warbands seeking to expand their territory, The battle took place in the Chapters Recruitment Solar System, The Dragons Sanguine Bravely fought to the last handful of men. The Solar Systems Star in the end exploding, destroying the entire system, being wiped clean, as-well as any traces of the Dragons, bar the survivors and those in the battle.
Chapter History
The Dragons Sanguine were a chapter created during the 9th Founding with the reason to participate in the Axon Crusade in 550.M35. During this time The Dragons garnered a reputation for ambushing high-ranking officials in zones where stealth would be deemed impossible by even other chapters. The Chapter was, and still is, known for their incredible amount of plasma weaponry given by the Adeptus Mechanicus in exchange for most of their other weapons and a few heavy vehicles from their arsenal. With that transaction they became known by the spread forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus as plasma weaponry experts and testers. Being called upon to test them in combat and give their opinions about possible improvements.
Because of their good relationship with the Mechanicus and their exemplary actions, the chapter was awarded their own successor. Which for every chapter is the greatest honor. Soon a veteran by the name of Argoth The Sorrowed took hold of the rank of Chapter Master. Later being accompanied by other hardened veterans and a the dreadnought known as Alyxander. The Dragons Sanguine helped to establish their homeworld on Spectrum Secundus. An ocean world covered by night. Soon the marines left the veterans to conduct heavy recruitment to create their own chapter but not without giving them a grey dagger with the blade trims being purple.
After the 200 year crusade the chapter was tasked with defending The region of space known as the Azure Stars which was located in the Segmentum Ultima. For the next millennia they stood ever vigilant and defended the Region from the Xenos species and traitors who had tried to capture it for their greed. At the end of M37 the Chapter was released from the guarding duty. Being temporary until other Imperial forces could arrive and secure it indefinitely. For the chapters watch they got rewarded with one of the 10 Solar Systems named Azurus Optima. The third biggest solar system which holds seven worlds. Using them as follows: 3 for the recruitment, 1 for making their gear, 2 for creating Astra Militarum Regiments and 1 barren world on which weapon testing and training are conducted.
During the Age of Redemption the chapter came back to their roots. They once again were crusading to recapture lost planets technology and other humans lost in the aftermath. The chapter without stopping after finishing a crusade would immediately join another which thinned the numbers until 2 and 1/2 companies remained. The chapter had to go back to their system in order to replenish on recruits and fully repair their damage wargear. But once arrived they were attacked by a fleet of Chaos Cultists which wanted to corrupt the worlds in the name of the dark gods. The chapter intervene but not without further loses. In the end the chapter had to replenish their ranks for several 10s of years without doing anything which could've damaged the recruiting time.
In M39 the Inquisition started to get suspicious about the chapters armory consisting almost only of plasma weaponry. They wouldn't bring this to the chapters attention until 10 years later when 3 inquisitors requested that they may board the chapters Fortress Monastery. The Inquisitors inspected the entirety of the ship then moved on to their strike cruisers and after checking their recruitment grounds. Without finding anything, they left the chapter alone keeping the suspicion until they deemed the chapter pure and not treasonous later on.
Notable Campaigns
Axon Crusade (550.M35-750.M45)
This Imperial Crusade was a counter-attack towards a group of sentient xenos who began an assault upon Imperial Worlds to be used as habitable planets for the xenos to expand. The Chapter, alongside several others, pushed back the threat from the worlds that were took over until reaching the birthplaces of the foul xenos which were bombarded and the survivors butchered as payment for the pain and death brought by them.
Purging of the Cursed (453.M38)
The 4 Chapters that were purged in the Event. From Left to Right. Extinguished Suns, Moon Breakers, Gore Scorchers, Depth Stalkers
The Dragons Sanguine are tasked with the purging of several designated Renegade Chapters created during the 21st 'Cursed' Founding. Aided by their Successor Chapter, the Spectral Blood, and The Copperheads Chapter, this loyalist triumvirate launch a fratricidal campaign against the Renegade Chapter. The loyalists were forced to breach several space hulks in order to find the abominations that their kin had become. With each Heretic Astartes killed, the battle-brothers of the Dragons Sanguine's sorrow for their former kin grew, as they knew that they couldn't help these afflicted Astartes in any way. After the purging missions upon their kin, they took one of each of the fallen chapter's shoulder pauldrons that had their individual chapter heraldry displayed upon them, and mounted these memento mori upon a wall in their Chapter Reclusiam in remembrance of the deaths of their formally loyalist brethren that were mutated beyond salvation, and as a stark reminder that such a lamentable task wasn't carried out in vain. Even millennia later, the Dragons Sanguine still feels sorrow for the merciful slaughter they were forced to carry out and mourn these lost Chapters.
Battle for Pythos 2 (777.M38)
A warband of Iron Warriors took hold of the Overion System. The chapter deployed on Pythos 2 to engage the traitor marines. The battle was strongly in the favor of the Iron Warriors until the mechanized units of the guard arrived. This battle has led to the deaths of many high ranking Dragons Sanguine including the death of their First Chapter Master Blood Shedder. The chapter managed to obliterate the traitors and recapture the world. Another ancient dreadnought took his place.
Assault of Azurus Optima (355.M39)
In 355.M39, the Chapter suffered one of their most dire events in their history. The large raiding force of Drukhari came to pillage the Astartes home solar system. The local Astra Militarum regiments and Astartes barely managed to destroy half of the fleet before their ships started to drop like flies. Between those ships were the Chapter's Fortress-Monastery of Blood Fall. The Chapter only managed to rescue their valuable and irreplaceable relics and 15% of their precious gene-seed from the genetic gene-stores, and get them aboard one of their battle barges before the ship exploded, taking with it two other small Drukhari battleships. In the end, the Chapter managed to eliminate 95% of the raiders before the attackers fled back into the warp. Bereft of vital gene-seed, this left the Chapter severely mangled and barely able to create more battle-brothers for the Chapter.
Rebuilding the Chapter (721.M39)
The Astartes managed to rebuilt their crippled numbers. Their partnership with the Mechanicus them to acquire tithes the chapter gave to be checked for their purity. This let them to gather 65% of their previous number. The construction of a backup Fortress-Monastery was created upon the second recruiting world from their Solar system in which they will store from now on their gene-seed. Their second Battle Barge, Bleeding Hand, was chosen as the successor flagship of the Chapter and became the true Fortress-Monastery in which one relic would be placed. The others being placed into the one on the planet.
Trauma Reemerging (001.M40)
The Chapter encountered the remains of an Astartes fleet. After a careful examination by the techmarines they found out that the destroyed fleet was from the Extinguished Suns, one of the chapters of the 21st Founding the Dragons Sanguine had to purge after being turned into warp spawn. For the entire year the Chapter would daily pray to the Emperor to ask for forgiveness for what they did. Even if the entire chapter knew that it was the only way put the mutated out of its misery. For this, the Chapter went on a 100 year Penitent Crusade in order to atone.
Building of Azuron Beta (229.M40)
After many millennia of not giving their 3 recruitment worlds any protection apart from the naval fleets, the Chapter choose to fortify the second planet Azuron Beta. Adding basses made of concrete and anti air cannons everywhere. The planetary defence forces was established and the technology of the world advanced drastically. Ten strongholds that acted as command posts of the entire planet were placed strategically around the world. Underneath the strongholds are mausoleums with statues of every hero of the chapter that has died. These being built while living.
Martyr's Divide (816.M40)
During this tumultuous period in Imperial history, the enemies of Mankind encroached upon the Emperor's demesne from all sides, spreading the Imperium's forces too thin. Despite the odds stacked against them, the Dragons Sanguine refused to waver in their defence of the citizens of the Imperium. Sending multiple task forces across the galaxy, the Chapter sent each company out on various crusades, operating as individual cells, so they could be in multiple places at the same time, to assist beleaguered Imperial forces in their defence of their respective and region and help to recapture besieged Imperial worlds. The 1st and 2nd Companies stayed in the Ultima Segmentum while the 3rd Company moved back into the Segmentum Tempestus to aid local planetary defence forces and Astra Militarum regiments to secure lost moons or arial space. The 4th and 5th Companies were moved to the Segmentum Obscurus to aid several forge worlds in distress. Thanks to the efforts of Chapters like the Dragons Sanguine, the Imperium was able to turn the tide of conflict in their favour.
The Fall of the Fifth (ca. 510.M41)
After countless battle that rent their numbers ever lower, the 5th Company suddenly and inexplicably, succumbed to the Black Rage. It is still unclear what exactly occurred, but the Chapter's Apothecaries and Chaplains suggest a drastic loss of willpower and exhaustion by the entire Company. This had led to the last sane members to send a message to the other companies for assistance in order to end the pain of the succumbed brothers. Only the 4th Company heard this desperate plea for help. Using warp travel the 4th reached the strike cruiser the 5th once used as a command post. It wasn't long before they would board the vessel only to be attacked by wave after wave of insane brethren. The sheer power of those feral marines was enough to wipe out the majority of the overwhelmed 4th Company, whittling down their forces until there were only five battle-brothers left alive.
In 511.M41, the rest of the Chapter was informed about the incident that had occured between the two companies. They also informed their brothers that a nearby forge world had taken hold of the 5th Company's vessel until the Chapter could send another company to extract it. In the same year, the five remaining survivors of the 4th Company managed to reach the 1st Company, staying with them until the Chapter would reform.
Excavation of the Golden Systems (Date Unknown)
The Chapter found a series of planets that contained precious resources that could be used for creating new types of bolter ammunition and plasma weapons. Noting these they sent a request to the High Lords Of Terra to send colonization fleets on the barren worlds in each system to maximize the amount of resource they could harvest from the planets without damaging them in the process. 50 years later being approved. This has led to the creating of 3 bolter round types which are used by several other related chapters.
Devastation of Baal (999.M41)
When Lord Commander Dante made the call for all successor chapters to return to Baal to defend from the Tyranids, the Dragons Sanguine were the second to heed his call and come to assist the Angels. The 1st Company took hold on Baal along with the 2nd. The 3rd was split between defending the space above Baal and the moons. When the wave of tyranids from hive fleet Leviathan began to spew onto the planet consuming the life from it. Every marine stationed in orbit was devoured in 5 hours. by the first 10 hours already 3 chapters had fallen. which steered a deep rage in the marines of the dragons which was about to release. By the 23rd hour, 7 Chapters had fallen. The Daemon Prince Ka'Bandha butchered the remaining 3rd Company that were stationed on Baals moons and a quarter from the remaining 2 companies died from the waves of tyranids. This has led upon the remaining members to charge the tyranids filled by the Red Thirst and making a path for the pockets of astartes that were surrounded in order to retreat to the main group. This action further damaging the number of the marines leaving the number of specialists to dwindle to 20 and the number of dreadnoughts to 6, The Chapter also lost their entire Sanguinary Guard and Their Chapter Master Iron Blood who exploded in order to let the remaining pockets of astartes to escape that last wave. In the 24th hour, Primarch Roboute Guilliman and his Primaris Marines emerged from the warp and aided in killed the remaining tyranids and help rebuilt the chapters mauled and create new ones as a sign of respect for the fallen ones. One of the aided chapters were the Spectral Blood, the Dragons Sanguines successor that was on the brink of extinction being downed to 30 marines. But the Dragons not realizing that Guilliman arrived to give them reinforcements the chapter decided to leave to their home planet in order to fix their equipment and start rebuilding.
Befriending Of The New (001.M42)
Not even a year after the Devastation of Baal and the chapter was again fighting with the Imperium. During these short campaign lasting 1 year they found themselves among entire chapters comprised of primaris. From silent and friendly to loud and hostile to other marines from or not primaris stock. This has led to the Dragons Sanguine to realize that this new breed of Astarte may be better in all aspects except in one. The gene-seed flaws that bind the chapter ever-closer bringing always an air of respect and brotherhood from marine to marine; In the end of the campaign the Chapter went down to 255 Marines in total.
Indomitus Crusade (050.M42)
The Indomitus Crusade found its way to the chapters system in order to replenish ammunition and and other pieces of equipment. This led to the chapter to intercept the vessels to state their reason of trespassing. This led Guilliman to set a meeting with The Chapter Master in order to award the chapter Primaris reinforcements with the chapter taking without hesitation into their fold. It wasn't long before they would assist Guilliman in the crusade for 50 years taking down high ranking officers with the tactics that they mastered since they're creation
By 100.M42, at the end of the crusade the Chapter was gifted a primaris successor for their overwhelming assistance in countless battles. Even if this new chapter may be their successors in paper only and not blood it didn't matter for the astartes. After meeting and giving the newly created chapter veterans to teach them their art of warfare. The Dragons would leave to start a new campaign eradicate many more the Imperium gathered at its door for for 100 years.
Detailed Event Of Campaigns
Purging Of The Cursed (453.M41)
The Chapter got a transmission from the Copperheads that they were required to aid them and their successor Spectral Blood to purge 4 21st Founding Chapters that fallen to the corruption of Chaos. If they didn't help they would be considered traitors. Because of this the chapters 1st 2nd and 3rd companies arrived to the location designated by the Copperheads were a meeting would be held to plan for the attack.
Soon enough the chapter would encounter their flagship and allowed aboard. There they would find that the traitors were stationed upon 5 medium sized space hulks in a zone in the Ultima Segmentum infamous for the amount of space hulks and imperial worlds turning fast into anarchy without a vigilant eye on them. After the meeting the 3 chapters would track the 5 space hulks and target them one by one from the smallest to the biggest.
For the 1st hulk 5 squads of veterans were chose from each chapter to seek and destroy the main power source in order to annihilate everybody inside as well as to remove a hulk from their charts. The squads would choose to go through the main entrance of the hulk. When aboard the marines noted that no sound could be heard apart from pipes and other machinery breaking or malfunctioning. They would continue to move until reaching the main chamber. When the last marine entered the chamber, a alarm set of causing all traitors to come from all sides while screaming with an animal rage.
Soon enough they would realize that the 4 chapters devolved into warp spawn and that they didn't turn traitor by their own will. This let the veterans to fight harder and more savage to down the abominations that became their brethren. After killing one 2 more would come until suddenly the never ending wave stopped. The survivors would plant explosives around the main power source and after escaping detonating it. Destroying the hulk and its contents. After the 1st hulk only 9 companies came back
The 9 remaining companies would immediately go to the 4th hulk and repeat the process they did with the first. This time the abominations would instantly run to attack the Astartes after landing upon the hulk. This let to them needing to use hit and run tactics to weaken the hordes enough to use flanking maneuvers to disorientate enemies. Due to the efficient use of those tactics and lower number of targets the squads didn't suffer any losses. After the second mission the veterans would rest for the entire campaign, their spot being taken by the Devastator and Assault squads of the chapters 2nd and 3rd companies.
Next the 2nd hulk would be raided. This time due to no entrances or weak points in the armor, The Chapter Masters decided to use some of their rarer torpedoes and missiles to obliterate it without any casualty or further expenses. The bombing lasted for several days until it split in half pouring its contents into the void of space. The Vessel batteries would kill all surviving stragglers that were still alive.
After a few days watching the remaining 2 hulks the Chapter Masters would decide to attack the 3rd. The Squads appointed would carve through dense waves of abominations until reaching a locked room which the marines easily broke through the door. Inside several bodies of marines from the 4 21st chapters would be found bearing no taint. On one of the corpses of a chaplain a recording was found detailed the mutations being planned by 40 Sorcerers of Tzeentch from the thousand sons legion that took over the chapters and turned almost everybody into the abominations. Enraged by this the General leading the Dragons Sanguine squads would take a pauldron from a marine bearing one of each chapters color and heraldry and take with him back upon the flagship later placed into the secondary fortress-monastery
The 5th hulk would crash upon the world of Vozurus 7 a barren wasteland covered by a eternal sunset. There the final battle was set. The 2 factions clashed tooth and nail using tactics and wits to take over the other. When the fight was almost going to turn into a stalemate The Chapter Master and their honour guard charged into the remaining abominations then into the heart of the circle made by the sorcerers. Out of the 40 traitors only 35 were strong and smart enough to survive the entire series of melee and range attacks coming from them. The 5 remaining sorcerers would kill all honour guard and the Chapter Master of the Copperheads and wounding the other 2. This would let them enough time to escape from the line of sight and disappear completely. But not before 2 to be shot down by the Dragons Sanguine Chapter Master Iron Blood.
The 3 chapters would go their own ways but vow to rejoin each others side when the 3 surviving sorcerers were to be found
Battle Of Phytos 2 (777.M38)
Chapter Master Iron Blood found a distress signal coming from the Overion System located in the eastern part of the Segmentum Ultima. The world of Pythos one was captured by a rogue cell of the iron warriors legion. The 4th and 5th company were dragged to this war due to their ranks being refilled.
The chapter began their assault upon the world by bombarding the heavily armored hives and sending drop pods upon weak enemy encampments. After landing the marines would form a perimeter which would allow other imperial forces to land. The main bulk of the companies began besieging the lesser fortified hives and taking them down using anti-tank weapons and orbital bombardment from the ships above. Due to this fast way of attacking the warband would use their daemon engines and artillery pieces. Because of this volatile way of fighting, both sides take heavy casualties.
While the main battle was taking place, The honour guard and the Chapter Master dropped behind the enemy lines to execute an assassination upon the leader of the warband. The squad would move silently from cover to cover until reaching the main encampment where they would attack at the 5th dawn of night. During this fight most of the honour guard would die while assaulting. This let the chapter master to fend off the enemies by himself until meeting their leader. During the fight the Iron Warrior leader stunned the ancient dreadnought and executed him with a well placed grenade launcher shot. The Remaining squad would charge in desperation to take down as many traitors so that if they fall the number of losses would be lower overall. This has let for Brother Sigiliion to try and kill the leader by himself.
Managing to do it by disorienting him then impaling him with a chainsword through the abdomen several times before falling in a pool of blood. After his death the remaining Iron Warriors would continue to defend their stronghold until the last one was killed. Due to the heavy amount of casualties and the damage done to the hive worlds, the 2 companies and the planet took 10s of years to rebuild.
The Fall (355.M42)
The Dragons Sanguine fell while defending their Home Solar System from the unumbered waves of deamons and chaotic astartes, valiantly fighting to the last man. Defending their worlds from the predations of chaos, even though it was a lost cause, In the end the Chapter Fell, succumbing to its wounds, the last blow being the exterminatus of the Systems Star, wiping everything clean.
Chapter Homeworld
The Chapter from its creation was fleet-based. Because of this they do not possess a homeworld. Instead they posses three ships left from their once glorious fleet. Because of this extensive repairs and fortifications are made daily to ensure the reliability of the ships.
So far most of the torpedo bays were replaced with thick plates of armour. Overall the ship shave increased bulkiness by 3 meters. Making them extra tough and able to continuously ram other enemy ships. The Bleeding Hand has been given an extended troop transport. armory and a vehicle bay in exchange for engine power which hasn't decreased significantly
Fortress-Monastery
The Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery is the Battle-Barge known as the Bleeding Hand, where 70% of the equipment and Space Marines are stored until combat. Aboard the Battle-Barge are the four rooms which house the Chapter's specialists - the Librarium, Apothecarion, The Forge and the Reclusium. Every inch of the ship was inscribed with sigils of protection against chaos.
Their Second Fortress monastery was build out of dire need after the chapter lost almost their entire geneed stock when the drukhari attacked. This being the most defended structure ever created by the Astartes. Almost all relics and 30% of gear are stored inside. Patrols of high ranking guardsmen are stationed all around the monastery. Nobody is allowed in its vicinity without the approbation of the Astartes. Anti Aircraft and rocket platforms are spread evenly among each floor, side and section. The halls have been reinforced with thick metal plating that were made while choirs of imperial civilians chanted holy scripts from the imperial creed.
Chapter Organisation
Pre-split the Dragons Sanguine had a unique company system. Having 5 Grand Companies. 1 hosting 200 standard battle brothers. The equivalent of 2 codex Companies. All Companies split the veteran and scouts between one another for an identical amount of personnel so that no one company was above the others.
After the split they have maintained the same organization but all companies acted independent of one another.
Due to low numbers the Chapter after reunion had to turn the organization in a more codex compliant model. Though still keeping their additional ranks except for the Commander due to their necessity of of a high amount of companies.

Specialist Formations
- Fresh Blood Squads are comprised of Neophytes who are at the last step of becoming true Astartes. These squads are formed in order for the chapter to study each member in detail in order to select a squad on which the neophyte will serve after getting the last implant based on the skills shown during the time they were appointed to the Fresh Blood Squads. Unlike other chapters whose recruits are part of the 10th Scout Company these squads aren't truly part of the chapter. Because of this the chapter uses them as auxiliaries in combat. The Squads are a broad range of weapons from plasma pistols to daggers to plasma snipers and plasma shotguns. For armor they can have the choice from seal tight suits that may range from heavy to light or armor made from different bits and pieces to the neophytes liking.
Once the neophyte is promoted the gear used by him would be reused by the new neophytes brought by the chapter. But if the piece wargear has suffered critical damage and cannot be repaired or was tainted by chaos then it would be thrown into the star in the chapters solar system.
- Abyssal Brethren Squads are squads of marines afflicted of the Black Rage at an incredible level. Being 3 times stronger then any other marine that ever succumbed to the curse. Only 15 in the entirety of the chapters life span have ever appeared in the chapters ranks. These marines were unable to be mercifully executed by their brethren from their sheer power so the chapter instead decided to freeze them in cryo chambers until they would be deployed onto the warzone. From the 15 marines the chapter created 5 men squads used to change the tide of a losing battle. Currently only 2 squads are in the possession of the chapter. The third being killed in a spearhead assault in a 10.000 orc group. The Abyssal Brethren wear death company armor with light blue marks instead of the common red on the death companies of other chapters.
The squads are outfitted with Mark 5 power armor for fast repairs while the marines are out of combat. Steel extensions on the gloves resembling claws are welded upon the armor as a cheap alternative melee weapons. The squads does not possess any ranged weapons rather they act as assault squads. because of this Jet packs are also given for fast melee interactions

Grand Companies History
- 1st True Dragons - The First Grand Company is the last Company to be Comprised entirely of Regular Astartes. Unlike any other Chapter it isn't comprised from the Veterans of the Chapter instead being the 2nd most versatile from all 5 Companies. Marines from the 1st Company are known to be heavily aggressive when engaging Chaotic tainted enemies and Reanimated Corpses of Loyalist Marines.
- 2nd Blood Thorns - The Second Great Company is formed from Primaris and Standard Marines, each being a Battleline Strong. The Company being the most versatile in the Chapter sees the most action. Being Deployed as an immediate Reinforcement for allied forces seeking aid.
- 3rd Red Centurions (Rebuilt) During the Devastation Of Baal the 3rd company took hold on the 2 moons of the planet and its orbit. 5 Hours after the fighting started. The tyranids destroyed the ship that 100 marines of the 3rd company were stationed. Soon even the moons were beginning to be flooded by endless voids of the hive fleet. Once the marines on the second moon couldn't hold the lines any longer led them being overwhelmed and killed. On the second moon where the Daemon Prince Ka'Bandha began to ravage imperial and xeno alike slaughtered the last members of the 3rd Company. After The Chapter was Reinforced, The 3rd Company was Rebuilt from Primaris Astartes.
- 4th Everlasting Fangs (Rebuilt) - The 4th company was the only one to ever get the message in time from the 5th company. Upon contact with the feral brethren they encountered they had no choice but to be mercifully executed. This battle cost the 4th the lives of 260 marines rendering the Chapter minus 2 companies in one battle. The only survivors were 2 Dreadnoughts 1 Captain and 1 Apothecary. After bringing this to the wider chapter it was to late. The Devastation of Baal started and the 3 companies banded together to protect the Homeworld of their Primarch. The 4 survivors died during the battle after they brought the news about the fall of the 4th and 5th company. Later on being reforged after the Reinforcement of Primaris Space Marines
- 5th Watchers Of The Bleeding Void (Disbanded/Destroyed) - During the period where each company went their separate ways, the 5th company suffered the most. they fought only in the harshest of warzones in exchange for nothing and always were in a declining number. Until one day in the 40th Millennia when the entire company fallen to the black rage in a couple of days. all the ones who didn't succumb where butchered by their feral kin. After a distress signal launched by the last sane brother of the 5th company to the other Dragons requesting aid. All were mercifully killed and the company went extinct. Several years after the Devastation of Baal the Company was brought back as a Primaris Only Force
Chapter Culture
The Space Marines of this Chapter prefer to tattoo red Dragons and aquilas on their abdomen backs and face to display their pride and loyalty to the chapter. they may also tatoo the names of their close brothers as a sign of respect.
The Chapter allows only Dreadnoughts as Chapter Masters because of their veteran status. Time spent in the Chapter and the wisdom that grew over the millennia but if all the dreadnoughts were to fall then they would select the chapter master from the oldest members with a high ranking which would duel in 5 criteria. Agility, Strength, Intelligence, Honor and Respect.
When a battle-brother is killed, he will be brought back to the Fortress-Monastery and cremated. On the urn, the brothers name, age, rank and deeds will be carved. They will throw the dust from the urn into space as a farewell to the brother. All the urns are put in the Reclusium.
Often after joining another Chapter in a campaign, a battle-brother will often paint their right shoulder pauldron in the colours of the chapter they served alongside.
Unlike any other Chapter, The Dragons Sanguine are selfless heroes who would die to protect their brethren if need be. This has let many members to sacrifice themselves to save an ancient member of the chapter or a squad from another chapter. Once a bond of brotherhood has been made they would assist the chapter they bonded with even at low strength.
Death Marches
Death Marches is the name given by the Dragons to the Events where the Chaplains of the Chapter gather on a planet or Ship who once belonged to a Chapter now fallen while defending the Imperium. The Chaplains alongside several choirs of Eclissiarchal march for 100 hours, not once stopping to indicate their dedication to the death. After the March ends, the representatives begin a feast for those close to the chapter which lasts for 5 hours, once finished one of the Shoulder Pads bearing the emblem of the Chapter is brought to the Flag-ship of the Dragons were its bathed in holy water and prayers are recited. After the bath-ism the Shoulder pad is placed alongside others which went through the same Process. Currently numbering 20.

The Dragons Sanguine specialize in ambushes, assassinations and plasma weaponry. Since the early days of the chapter they were acting as a supporting force. The Chapters marines were always sent to set traps for incoming reinforcements and to kill enemy commanders in the field wich let them to evolve these styles of warfare. The marines often would place decoys in the middle of the targets path in order to stop it from moving then they would immediately get out of cover and and hit the weak spots of the target annihilating them in seconds.
The Chapter also got a liking to plasma weaponry. This weapon type being almost used by the entire chapter. The Chapter Master made a pact with the mechanicus to give more plasma based weapons in exchange of the other types of armament and vehicles the chapter didn't used in order to give it to forces in need of them.
Chapter Belief
The Marines view the Emperor as the most powerful human to ever live who managed to reunite Humanity and create a Imperium that lasted for thousands of years. The view towards the average man is that of equality. They believe that everybody has a role in the Imperium and that not one is above the others.
Since the creation of the Primaris Space Marines. The Dragons Sanguine managed to sire another Successor Chapter, which they are proud of creating, to assist them until the last Dragon falls. Because of this, they view the Primaris as necessary replacements for the never ending war. Though they would not permit them to join their Chapter. Rather to create their own so that they aren't bound to the last moments of their dying Order. But the Chapter had to make a compromise with Guilliman and accepted 250 Primaris marines into their cracked order. Even if they may be somewhat different they are till seen as brothers
Chapter Gene-Seed
The Chapter's gene-seed was one of the purest of the Blood Angels geneline had to offer, even surpassing the low rate of the Black Rage and somewhat the Red Thirst. In M39, the Dragons Sanguine suffered a genetic flaw known as 'The Bleeding' - a mutation spread rampant through their entire gene-stock. This mutation brought the Red Thirst to a very high level, making neophytes feeling the effect from their implantation.
Primarch's Curse:
- Red Thrist: The entire Chapter suffers from this trait at a very high level since M39. Even if they learned to control and realize it, at will, it's a danger for the recruits because of the possibility of insanity and cannibalism. Those who master it at a young age tend to utilize it more often and with a more strategical advantage. They even gain the ability to drain a person of their blood in seconds and nourish the marine in seconds.
- Black Rage: Unlike 99% of other Chapters coming from Sanguinius' linage, the Dragons have a very low rate of battle-brothers falling to this genetic flaw. Due to the mutation of the Red Thirst, it is even lower the it was before making it almost unheard of. But those who manage to get afflicted turn into true reflection of Sanguiniuses Rage after he witnessed the Slaughter of his sons during the heresy. These marines nicknamed 'Abyssal Brothers' are 3x stronger then the average Death Company marine. Being able to tear wholes into heavily armored transports. Only 15 of these type of afflicted marines are known to exist. Them being 15 in number, 5 of which perished during an Ork WAAAGH!. The Chance of a death company marine to become an Abyssal Brother is 0.1%
Deathwatch Service
The Dragons views the Long Watch as an honor everyone aspires to participate in. Everytime it comes at the chapter's door they would always select the five oldest veterans to send at times even selecting Dreadnoughts.
After return to the Chapter, its normal to see plea from the returning marines to go for a second time in order to learn even more about xenos species and their weak points to present in utter detail the procedure of elimination
Most of the Death Watch squads the Astartes of the chapter that join tend to be composed of other Blood Angel successors or in entirety from their own chapter. This has led to fake rumors that they utterly hate chapters sired from other Primarchs.
Since of 050.M42 the 5 marines that serve the long watch are:
- Maxix
Leader of Maxix Squad. The team is comprised of 10 Marines of Blood Angels lineage
- Therro
Second in command of Varok Squad. The team is comprised of 5 Marines of Blood Angel lineage and 1 of Ultramarine 2 of Dark Angels and 2 of Imperial Fist lineages
- Ratheck
Member of Celestus Squad. The team is comprised entirely of Ultramarine successors
- Kaerir
Member of the Forgotten Sons. A squad made from Death Watch Blackshields. Due to his veteran status he was given the honor to watch over the squad
- Demetus
Member of Silvius Squad. The team is comprised of 3 white scars, 2 iron hands 2 Ultramarines 1 Salamander and 2 Space Wolves successor. this Squad was formed mostly from ultima founding chapter.
Notable Members
- 1st Company Captain Axaldus: Brother Axaldus was the one to take initiative and reunite the chapter as a whole when the remaining companies meet on Baal. He partook in the effort to rescue the stranded pockets of Astartes from the Tyranids before more casualties could be caused

Chapter Relics
- 'Breath Of The Blue Dragon' - This relic is a master-crafted plasma cannon created by the Forge World of Rohvan Secundus as a reward for saving the world from total annihilation by traitor Astartes. Because of its mastery when crafted its forever in a state of overcharge. There have been many attempts which had the potential to overheat or explode. Despite this the weapon remains frost cold and never misfires or jams. A unique aspect is that the plasma is a deep blood rather than the usual blue or green most have.
- 'Battle Cry Of The Fallen' - This weapon is a master-crafted chainaxe painted silver with red teeth. Like the hand of Dorn, its considered more of a ceremonial item rather then a weapon. Because of this the chainaxe is used as an executing tool for the few afflicted of the Black Rage. The executions being lighting fast and without pain. The Chainaxe gets its name from its revving sound, that being similar to the war cry of the chapter manifested through the voices of recognized members that have fallen long ago. A unique aspect is that the chainaxe has the name of all fallen brothers since M40 on wards on its teeth.
The Venerated Draconis Ultima. A Deimos Pattern Predator Tank
- 'Draconis Ultima' - This relic is a Deimos pattern predator tank with a plasma cannon turret. The vehicle was originally fabricated for the use of the Death Guard legion during the Great Crusade. Until it was lost during a failed mission in the Segmentum Solar. For hundreds of years it was lost until the Night Lords legion found it at the beginning of the Horus Heresy and used it as a recon/infantry fighter until it was again lost in an flanking by the Blood Angels 7th Company. It was kept in an armory somewhere on their home planet of Baal and given to to the chapter at its creation. The predator tank was used by the chapter in many occasion including assassination missions and planet invasions.
- 'Heraldry Of The Lost - The Heraldry Of The Lost is a set of 20 left mark 7 power armor shoulder pads, each bearing the colors and symbol of one of the chapters the Dragons Sanguine came to mourn after finding their demise or those who were purged after succumbing to the powers of the Chaos Gods being killed to cease their suffering. This tradition started with a 2nd Company General who took one shoulder pad of each purged Chapter during one Campaign, keeping them as a memento for their failure to save them, despite the impossibility of them ever saving them before it was too late. Later on this turned into a tradition, spurring the Events known as Death Marches which the beggining of 999.M41 have started to increase in number. As of now the Chapter posses 20 Shoulder Pads, each of whom present great sorrow to the Chapter.

During the 2nd "Reinforcement Phase" the traitors targeted the location of the Marines and dropped directly into CQC Combat, easily tearing apart the Chapter. The Chapter Master gave an order to his subordinates to leave the planet while him and the sanguinary guard fought.
