"Brothers! Today we will face the end of our chapter. But marked be my words...we will never cease our fight. We will never let the enemies stop us. Today we won and yet it is our end. Dark future awaits, my brothers. Our fate unfolds before us! The Glory lies ahead!"
— Chapter Master Agemo Afla after the battle with plague marines of the Deathguard legion

The Death Flowers are a Loyalist Succesor Chapter of the Black Lotus Chapter which was created during the ill-fated 13th Founding, the so-called 'Dark' Founding. The Death Flowers were created mostly of Primaris Space Marines during the recent Ultima Founding, after the original chapter was reduced to only one company. Such massive losses led to the creation of the newly reconstituted chapter. Under the weight of the circumstances, this chapter was one of the first to accept the newly revealed Primaris Marines, even though the chapter is highly secretive and of unknown lineage.

The chapter's predilection for guerrilla warfare and use of stealth tactics has led many Imperial scholars to suspect that they are successors of the Raven Guard Chapter. This Chapter was assigned with searching and destroying Necron tomb worlds. The chapter has quite a close relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus and is suspected by the Inquisition to incorporate xenos technology in their gear.

Chapter History

During the 13th Founding the Black Lotus Chapter was created as a fleet-based chapter. Their origin is unknown due the circumstances of the founding. But it is widely suspected as a Raven Guard Successor Chapter due their expertise in stealth tactics and guerrilla warfare. The chapter was often deployed when rescuing lost technology, so they closely cooperated with the Adeptus Mechanicus. During the 13th Black Crusade in 999.M41, most of the chapter was destroyed during battle with Heretic Astartes of the Death Guard Traitor Legion, leaving only a fraction of the elite company alive.

Facing the ultimate end of their chapter, Chapter Master Agemo Afla petitioned the High Lords of Terra to create a new Chapter from the old. In their wisdom, the High Lords granted the Chapter Master special dispensation to do so. To ensure their success, a delegation of Adeptus Custodes arrived to gift the nearly extinct Chapter with the means to reconstitute their numbers - granting them the means to raise Primaris Space Marines. Restoring their numbers to fighting strength, the Chapter is now able to face the new enemy of the Imperium of Man – the Necrons.

The newly incepted Death Flowers were founded as counter to the uprising Necron threat, created during the Ultima Founding. The chapter is mostly composed of Primaris Space Marines, but at the Chapter's core serves a group comprised entirely of Firstborn generation of Astartes. They are all that is left of the original Black Lotus Chapter after the events of the 13th Black Crusade. The chapter accepted the newly gifted Primaris Space Marines as one of the first Chapters to do so, despite their aloof and secretive nature. Thanks to their mobile nature as a fleet-based chapter, they've been assigned seek out and destroy Necron tomb worlds.

Their fleet set course for the old worlds of the galactic core, where they sought out one of the necron tomb worlds and successfuly purged it of the silent threat. Their exceptionally precise predictions are suspected to be of an alien origin, specificaly the Eldar farseers. Such suspect was a reason for the Ordo Xenos to examine this chapter closely and thoroughly, before allowing the Death Flower chapter to once again continue in their crusade across the Ultima Segmentum where many suitable worlds for drawing aspirants from are.

During their short history, this chapter has kept it's secrets about their inherent mutation and beliefs, thus giving cause to great suspicion. Thus Death Flowers are regularly checked on by the various ordos of the Inquisition. So far, they have always proved loyal to the Imperium, though their methods utilized to carry out their mission objectives are often questionable, yet highly effective. This chapter has rarely suffered defeat in it's short history, and even then, they still manage to cause considerable fatalities to the enemy.

Notable Campaigns

  • The Siege of Krim: Primaris space marines newly created by the chapter were to be tested against the chaos cult of Nurgle in the hive cities of Krim, mining world near the galactic core. This was meant to prepare new battle-brothers for the fight inside a necron tomb, which was expected to look similarly to the mazes of the hive city. All infected hives were successfully destroyed utilizing infiltration, sabotage and lightning attacks from different directions anihilating vital defensive points and facilities providing necessary supplementation. The battlefields were scourged by purifying flames. The fleet than lingered on orbit to extryct their tithe in aspirants for the chapter.
  • Purge of Ghail-II: The Death Flowers by chance encountered dormant tomb world. Savage tribes of this world located near the galactic core were to be searched for aspirants to replenish the forces of the chapter, but strange legends and objects were noticed among the population. This led to further investigation and discovery of the tomb. Pre prepared strategies were immediately activated to be tested in the battle for the first time. The tomb of Ghail-II began to rapidly awaken when first attack runs began to chip on it's enourmous defences. When the first warriors of the caúter entered the tomb to plant explosives deep into it's structure, they encountered almost none resistance. The specialists of the Tomb Raider units collected many data on the inner structure and organisation of the foes bastion. Their brothers of Death Hunters however suffered heavy loses. Tactical data gained in this operation were invaluable. New tactics drawn even as the brothers lost were mourned.
  • Siege of Hecate system: Hecate, system of hive worlds briming with life it's manufactorum feeding the ever hungry machine of the Imperium. The presence of the treat was detected by chance or by fate. The navigators of the fleet sensed the emptiness in the warp enveloping the world of Hecate. Fearing the treath of tyranids the fleet ran at full speed in hopes of stoping the invasion. To their surprise the xenos present were of different kind, The souldraining emptines came from the foul devices of Necrons. The chapter deployed in full force across the entirity of the system. The conflict was wide spread in void alike on the surface. While the surface battle slowly tipped in favour of the Death Flowers in the void Necron supremacy was contested only with great strain upon the fleet. Greatly overnumbered shipmasters of the Death Flowers focused mainly to prevent the xenos from supporting their ground units. The conflict streched for a year when reinforcements from Imperial Navy arrived and allowed the Death Flower fleet to chase the necron flotila from the system. Heavy loses and terribly wounded ships made the chapter to seek the shelter of the nearest Forge World. While the system itself was purged of the xeno presence majority of the necron force escaped.

Chapter Organisation

Death Flowers are mostly Codex compliant, but have their own specialised ranks alongside the standard marking set by the Codex Astartes. The Chapter is divided in eleven companies, while the so called zero company is composed of six Firstborne marines, the original survivors of the Black Lotus chapter.

  • Zero company is only fromal in it's name. Comprising of the oroginal survivors of the Black Lotus chapter destroyed during the 13th Black Crusade alongside the most venerated of the primaris warriors. Effectively a Honor guard of the Chaptermaster it's entirity being six terminators and three bladeguard veterans acompanying their ancient.
  • 1st Lightning company comanded by Emissar of Death. Filled with the bulk of the chapter intercessors and assault intercessors. Acompanied by reivers as fast and flexible support, these veterans are the most relied upon and experienced warriors of the chapter.
  • 2nd company lead by Stride Administrate this company strives to provide tactical flexibility. Balancing intercessors with close support of reivers and ranged cover of hellblasters.
  • 3rd Shield company under the comand of Third Eye. Consisting of many different units many support units ared rawn from this company. Along intercessors and assault intercessors a hulking aggressor squads and mobile incursors provide close ranged fire support. Assault specialists of inceptors capable of providing fast precisely timed attacks to disrupt enemy plans.
  • 4th Plunderer company sworn to Burgrave are specialists in stealth and precise operations. Along intercessors mighty firepower and manouverability of supressors backed up by precise elimination of high value targets provided by eliminators. Infiltrators disrupt comunications and create chaos behind enemy lines. Supported by incursors and reivers in close.

He is assigned with training battle-brothers in close combat techniques, which aren't limited to only sword fighting, but also bare fist fight and improvised weaponry usage. As many chapters hold their honour higher than anything battle-brothers of the Death Flowers Chapter do not hesitate to use any means to achieve victory. This shameless use of dirty tricks often brings disapproval or even hate of other chapters.
    • Third Eye - so is the title of the Master of the Watch. He is the one assigned to protect the fleet from enemies while most of the chapter is deployed in battlefield. As the ships of the Chapter are of utmost importance as they carry all equipment necessary for the chapters survival he is assigned his own terminator squad.
    • Burgrave - fulfills duties of the Master of Relics, Master of Arsenal and the Chief Victualler. He must be man of great logistics talent even though Death Flowers Chapter is quite small in numbers. • Stride Administrate - this rank is similar to the of the Master of the Marches. This astarte has the duty to search for necron threads as awakening tomb worlds, which are to be destroyed before they become fully awake and potent threat to the imperium of man. He closely cooperates with chapter's librarians searching for some kind of pattern and even the slightest signs of necrons and lost technology as it's the chapter's second priority.

Specialist Ranks

  • Petal of Wisdom - Title equivalent to the Chief Librarian rank. Death flowers do not use psykers in battle unless the circumstances are too serious. Those warriors are considered chapters finest weapon and also memory. Librarians hold records of chapter history and glorious deeds. He closely cooperates with the Void Petal and Stride Administer in order to ensure the most efficient use of the chapter's fighting force.
  • Librarian - Those space marines are assigned to study enormous amount of data in order to find any traces of necrons and lost technology.
  • Iron Petal - Title refers to the rank of Master of Forge. According to the tradition Iron Petal must undergo long training on Mars as apart of Chapter dedication to retrieving lost technology and praising knowledge as the ultimate weapon. Iron Petal is preferentially assigned with modifying chapters weaponry in order to create more efficient anti-necron weapons. In order to do so chapter often collects necron bodies to study their weaknesses and composition thus bringing attention of Adeptus Mechanicus and inevitably Inquisition.
  • Techmarine - All tech marines of this chapter have very deep knowledge of technology closing even the tech-priests of Mars.
  • Blood Petal - Rank appropriate to the rank of the Chief Apothecary. He is mostly focused on curing scale flaw in the chapter's gene-seed as well as developing better night-vision. Encouraging gene-seed flaw also brings suspicion of Inquisition and hate of other Chapters.
  • Apothecary - Those with this rank serve to heal wounds of battle-brothers, neophytes and aspirants as well as create new members of the chapter.
  • Skull Keeper - Astarte assigned this rank fulfils the same duties as Reclusiarch does. He keeps the most of sacred chapters relic stored in the Reclusiam. He is also trained in the ways of techmarines as most of the relics are ancient technology used by the most skilled within the chapter.
  • Skull Bearer - This rank corresponds to the of High Chaplain, Master of Sanctity. As the chapter refuses the Imperial cult and Ecclesiarchy and holds Imperial Truth above all he is appointed in boosting the warriors moral by educating them about the nature of the enemy. He is highly educated and closely cooperates with Techmarines and Librarians to pass the acquired knowledge to the rest of the Chapter. His ultimate duty is to train and properly condition aspirants and neophytes.

Squads Designations

Death Flowers chapter accepted primaris marines and their specialist squads with little to no changes as the designated roles suited greatly their combat doctrine.

Intercessor squads

The training of those mighty and universal warriors is the longest and hardest any battle-brother can undergo. In order to carry out successfully even missions deemed impossible to achieve their weapon and equipment has to be the of greatest quality. Serving as the most flexible battle-force their number is the highest of all other squads. Their role is to provoke the response of the Tomb and lure prescribed necron units to their doom.

Inceptor squads

Usually air deployed or using the more risk bearing teleportation. Their role in battle is usually to quickly reinforce Intercessor squads playing easy targets for the enemy. Armed with assault bolter using anti-phase bolter shells or plasma exterminators they are able to quickly anihilate any necron force threating the Imperium of Man. Interceptor squads numbers are close to the of Intercessors.

Hellblaster squads

Serving the role of heavy ranged support squads those marines are usually the force waiting in predestined locations for Intercessor squads to lead the enemy in trap where deadly firepower of these units is able to completely annihilate even larger units of the necrons. Serving only this specific purpose for the mostly stealth based chapter their numbers are limited.

Reiver squads

Highly encouraged and many numbered Reiver squads hold the purpose of finding and destroying any enemy force in the matter of minutes than disappearing. Death Flowers chapter however uses those masters of stealth to infiltrate the tomb and while necron units leave their base. The next step is to destroy the tomb walls and outer defenses using highly potent explosives and thus allowing the rest of chapter forces to strike deep into the enemy's base. In order to hold given path for long enough for the reinforcements to be deployed their close combat skills are tested to the very limits. These squads are the most valued by the chapter and thus are often equipped with chapters volkite weapons allowing them to destroy necron metal bodies with one hit.

Agressor squads

Representing the most mobile and most heavily armed close combat warriors these squads are deployed solely when the battle in the tomb has begun, securing path to the tomb's Nodal center and thus destroying the very ability to awaken and operate the warriors stored there.

Incursor squads

Squads providing diversion and lightning fast support for the less agile forces of the chapter such as terminators and centurions deployed in full scale attack. These expert squads are only few in number, even though their grow is the second priority for the Death Flowers chapter as their extended ability to track energy fields makes them perfect guides for Reiver squads infiltrating the tomb. Rarely they are deployed as a whole squad but rather as individual guides for Reiver squads. Prescribing the creation of Incursor-Reiver squads when the Chapter reaches full strength once more.

Vanguard Infiltrators squads

Similarly as the Incursor squads these marines are often deployed as part of the tomb infiltration missions. Their ability to extract gene-seed and disturb necron communication allows to easily avoid the enemy while preparing explosives to create path through the tomb allowing the Chapters main force to reach core systems and destroy them.

Vanguard Eliminator squads

Composing of less marines than most squads these marksmen are primarily deployed to eliminate high-ranked necron threats. Equipped with modified anti-phase exterminator shells, they have to make sure every shot is worth it's cost. Thanks to the squad low man force their number allows them to accompany tactical squads and prepare traps eliminating even larger necron units. Their role is essential when facing necron Lords or especially powerful leaders.

Vanguard Suppressor squads

Providing quick heavy ranged support Suppressor squads are deployed when the tomb is ripped open and Riever squads accompanied by Incursors and Vanguard Infiltrators have to hold their hold before the main force consisting of Intercessors and Agressors squads starts the advance into the insides of the tomb. They are equipped with specialised anti-phase shells allowing them to wreak havoc among the necrons.

Terminator squad

Led by the Chapter Master clad in the Tenebrae Ossa, ancient relic of the chapter. This is the main frontline force of the Death Flowers chapter. Equipped with Power claws and storm bolters. This mighty force is the core frontline squad when full scale conflict requiring close combat occurs. Mostly deployed when the tomb raid is held via teleportation their role is to exterminate never ending forces of the necron warriors on their path to the Nodal center. This is the zero squad of the elite zero company.

Centurion squads

More agile, while featuring similar firepower as terminator armour centurion armour is handled by handpicked brethren forming elite assault squads of the first company to aid terminator squads to lead the attack deep into the necron tomb in order to destroy the Nodal center. Equipped with missile launchers and heavy bolter on one hand and grav-canon on the other they posses considerable ability to destroy anything in their way to shut down the whole tomb.

Special Formations

Tomb Raiders

Special infiltration units composed of specialist from different squads. Offering peak performance and great manoeuverability thanks to their limited size. Tomb Raiders units are created og reivers, infiltrator, incursor and eliminators. These special forces counting no more than ten marines have the difficult duty of infiltrating the tomb and blowing up defense systems in order to allow their brothers to attack the tomb with reduced loses.

Death Hunters

Units composed specifically for face short ranged combat. These honorable battlebrothers have the duty to engage their undead foes in the most hostile environment – the tomb itself. Being the adamantine spearhead of any frontline attack these units are formed within each company. Death Hunters formation is composed of eliminators or centurions accompanied by aggressors and hellblasters immediately followed by intercessors in order to establish the route and eliminate any ambush.

Non-Astartes Personnel

Countering the necron threat is the chapters first objective and in order to do so extreme means are often applied. Inquisition suspects the Death Flowers to use xeno technology and other forbidden ways to defeat the enemy. Only the presence of many Tech-Priests in the Death Flowers fleet stops the Inquisition of holding a trial over this chapter. Many of the chapters battle-brothers have augmented vision or posses other technological improvements given to them by the Mechanicum. Some say that unusually high numbers of Tech-Priests indicate that new weapons and technologies are tested in battle by the Space Marines of this Chapter. It's weapons and vehicles often feature strange marks and display some anomalies, otherwise working perfectly.

Chapters spacecrafts are maintained by great number of servitors. These former human beings are favoured servants by the chapter as their lack of sentience makes them perfect servants for the secretive chapter. Along with the servitors many human servants are needed to carry out more complex tasks. Human crew is responsible for small tasks and all the necessary work which has to be done, mostly working in stocks or providing service to the Space Marines. Human crew is recruited along with the will be Space Marines. Often taken away from their families some are unable to bear this burden and are ultimately executed. Some are even born on the vast decks of Death Flower Chapters spacecrafts. This way is encouraged by the Chapter, for these servants are the most loyal.

Order of Battle

The chapter is split in twelve companies, but at current state some companies doesn't exist as there simply isn't enough marines to fill them with. Each company should consist of 80 marines. Each company is led by the captain seconded by two lieutenants and squats are led by their respective sergeants. Each company has it's champion and ancient. While in other chapters ancients bear their company standartds to battle it is customary for the ancient of death flowers companies to memorize victories and battles fought in form of poems. These balads are carved in stone deep inside the Yggdrasil along the names of brothers fallen in service to the Emperor.

Headquarters

Chapter comand centre is stationed aboard battle barge Yggdrasil. All orders and actions directly or indirectly originate in the strategium which is a large hall filled with hololithic devices and control panels. In case of emergency whole ship can be operated from there. As such it is heavily guarded to such a degree it would survive the destruction of the ship itself. For this reason all records of chapter history and achievements are stored here.

Companies

The zero company is elite formation of six surviving firstborne marines of black lotus chapter often leading first strike of any attack. First and second company are completely motorized to carry out fast strikes in long range to engage the enemy before the reinforcements arrives. 1st Veteran Lightning Company is commanded by the Emissar of Death. In command of the 2nd Lightning Company is Stride Administrate. Third company also called Shield company is led by Third Eye and protects the chapter fleet. Fourth Plunderer Company is entrusted to the hands of Burgrave. Fifth Blaze Company is in charge of providing artillery support and is thus entrusted to the Iron Petal. Void Petal is in charge of 6th Winged Company, which represents the aerial and void specialist of the chapter. Remaining 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th companies are maintained only in terms of equipment and free space in the fleet as the chapter does not posses enough manpower to fill these positions, which are thus waiting for the increase in numbers.

Chapter Gene-Seed

Death Flowers gene-seed is flawed with several minor problems. Most visible problem is skin condition eventually resulting in every Death Flower marine to be covered in hard scales. These scales case no damage but over time will grow to cover mouth, eyes and nose resulting in suffocating or death by hunger. Chapter apothecaries are desperately trying to found a cure, but unsuccessfully. To avoid blindness and more conditions the marines have their scales surgically removed around the body orifices regularly every decade. Additionally their body temperature lovers significantly. These reptilian traits are greatly protected secret of the chapter. It's members rarely take their helmets off publicly. Along with the scale and cold blood their vision is adapted to dark, which is great advantage given their combat expertise and the chapter believes it is a sign that they took the right path actually encouraging this flaw among it's members.

Possible Origins

The chapters origin is unknown, but four major theories exist about their origin. None of the following theories was validated by the chapter Librarians.

  • Raven Guard - As their expertise and war doctrine is mainly focused on stealth operations and lightning fast and coordinated attacks destroying enemy before he knows what is even happening, they are believed to be successors of the Raven Guard Chapter.
  • Iron Hands - Due their affinity to technology and merciless approach to the enemy they are often marked as descendants of the Iron Hands.
  • Salamanders - Similarly as the Iron Hands Salamander chapter is know for their craftmanship and advanced technology use. But Death Flowers lack the willingness to sacrifice themselves unless there is further tactical goal to achieve.
  • Chimeric Gene-Seed - This theory says that they actually are successor of the Raven Guard Chapter but their gene-seed was heavily tainted by the Alpha Legion traitors and thus expressing such uncommon mutation. To some it seem quite possible as Alpha Legion has once nearly destroyed the Raven Guard gene stock.
  • Alpha Legion - Rumors are that their origin is much darker. To backup this theory there is death Flowers unique physical trait. Over time their skin hardens and almost white scales develop all over their body.
  • The Lost Legions - Some theories about their origin connects them with the Lost Legions, as their physical traits resemble no known chapter. But this theory isn't more than a rumor and pure conjecture, and without merit.

Chapter Beliefs

Death Flowers chapter is reluctant when it comes to acceptance of the Emperor as a godly figure. As their progenitor chapter they follow teaching of the Imperial Truth. Many consider such ideology heresy and unacceptable. Beside the general ideology among the space marines of this chapter great importance is placed on the skill of each warrior. Constant urge to improve their battle skills and perfect the technique of melee and ranged combat is great part of the chapters beliefs. Battle brothers may take pride only in their own ability to carry out any order without flaw, may it be in team or alone. Among the battlebrothers many fetishes fashioned from noctilith are present believing it will hide them from the unliving gaze of the enemy. Many brothers felt under the influence of the many Tech-Priests present on the crafts of their fleet and embraced Cult Mechanicus, their prayers aiming to the Omnissiah. For their denial of the Imperial Cult Death Flowers chapter is closely monitored by the Ordo Hereticus and Adeptus Ministorum.

Combat Doctrine

"Only with the death of the enemy is victory achieved. Never trust those who surrender, but rather use them as a tool and be prepared to eliminate them anytime."
— Purity Seeker during the lecture of battle tactics.

Death Flower chapter focuses on guerrilla war. They invoke great number of smaller conflicts severely damaging vital points of the enemy before the final strike. Overwhelming attack is carried out with outstanding precision and speed. If possible small number of units is dispatched to infiltrate the stronghold of the enemy and to weaken their defense and jam their sensors. Such tactics proved to be more effective against enemy possessing great numbers and forts than agile forces.

The chapter rarely shows any mercy to the enemies of the Imperium. However if an especially gifted individual appears an exception is possible. As the chapter believes that ensuring the victory is more important than purity of the means used. As such the chapter is know for cooperation with xeno mainly Aeldari forces however no alliance of opportunity is forsaken if it can aid in achieving victory.

Deathwatch Service

Battle brothers of the Death Flower Chapter consider servicing Deathwatch a great honour and obey without any hesitation. Experts of this chapter are rarely considered reliable as they are suspected to cooperate with xenos by the Inquisition.

Chapter Recruitment

The chapter often recruits from many worlds on its ever ending crusade. Aspirants are taken to the flagship where blood duel trials are held. Only one victor usually emerges. This causes the chapter to grow ever so slowly.

Chapter Wargear & Equipment

Nearly every suit of Power Armour worn by the chapter warriors is Mark X Phobos pattern allowing stealth operations to be carried out even in full plate. Death Flowers chapter posses great numbers of Terminator amrour and Centurion armor. These are equipped mainly with storm bolters or volkite weapons or multi-meltas.

All of the chapters' crafts and vehicles are modified to be faster and less noisy, than standard. Due the blessing of the Mechanicus their vehicles and crafts are in excellent condition and are very reliable. As majority of the Astartes of this chapter are deployed via Stormhawks to carry out their missions Death Flowers posses abnormal numbers of these ships. Vehicles are often armoured with rare pieces of technology as Graw Weapons or volkite weapons to better counter the mysterious forces of the Necrons.

Space marines of this chapter also carry different type of ammunition. Rare Antiphasic shells and Stalker shells are one of the most used to ensure precise hit and sure kill. But most treasured and effective ammunition available to the chapter due the blessing of the Red planet are the Tempest bolts created to destroy foes with heavy machine augmentations which proved to be effective against the living metal of the Necron bodies.

Notable Members

Chapter Fleet

Death Flowers fleet is mostly composed of light and agile crafts. It's main firepower is provided by Silence, a gloriana-class battleship of unknown origin, and two nova-class frigates Lance and Scythe. Alongside these larger vessels a squadron of five gladius-class frigates creates the core of the fleet. Reconnaissance part of the fleet is created of three vanguard cruisers Crane, Viper and Dragon accompanied by three hunter destroyers.

  • Ygdrasil batle barge serving as chapters flagship holding it's inner sanctum and most cherished relics. All recruits are trained on the desks of this enormous ship capable to acomodate the whole chapter lest the need arise. The origin of this vessel is shrouded in mystery as it is one of the relics which the survivors of the Black Lotus chapter brought with them.
  • Reaper gladius class frigate attached to the 1st company.
  • Silence and Scythe are nova-class frigates providing most of the chapters void fighting capabilities and firepower.
  • Crane vanguard cruiser attached to the 2nd company under the comand of Stride Administrate accompanied by it's sister ship Viper it makes reconnaissance in order to uncover hidden threats to the Imperium.
  • Viper vanguard cruiser attached to the 3rd company and under the command of the Petal of wisdom it makes reconnaissance in order to uncover hidden threats to the Imperium.
  • Dragon vanguard cruiser attached to the 4th company and under command of Iron Petal is the place where the most of chapters resources are repaired or created. Alongside it's sister ships Crane and Viper it serves as an envoy of the main fleet searching for worlds with resources to replenish the fleet rations and manpower.
  • Trident is three Hunter Destroyers strong squadron accompaniing Crane, Dragon and Viper as the envoy of the main fleet.
  • Shield is five crafts strong squadron of Gladius class frigates which accompanies the core ships of the fleet, Silence, Reaper, Lance and Scythe.

Chapter Relics

  • Tenebrae Ossa - Master crafted ancient terminator armour the Tenebrae Ossa. This armour is of strange construction with included grav-generators similar to the of grav guns, but serving as support for movement and attacks. This armour is very difficult to wield as it requires much more experience. This ancient terminator armour is worn by the chapter master.
  • Tridens Strages - Master-crafted power glaive combined with grav-gun. Such a combination allows the wielder to fully use the destructive potential of two-handed power weapon and grav-gun. This relic is wielded by the Emisarr of Death as he is the most skilled of the chapter warriors.
  • Column Tenebrae - Column Tenebrae is a master-crafted force bident. As force weapons require a psyker for a proper use the Petal of Wisdom is equipped with this weapon.

Chapter Appearance

Chapter Colours

The Death Flowers primarily wear dark olive coloured power armour with the exception of the armorial trim and poleyns (knee guards), which are painted a deep black colour. The Aquila or Imperialis worn on their plastrons (chest guards) are black in colour, with the skull of the Imperialis being black. A large open-faced black coloured squad specialty symbol stenciled on the right armorial inset indicates a battle-brother's assigned squad specialty (Fire Support, Close Support, Battleline or Command). Veterans are marked by a silver winged Imperialis or Aquila. A small black coloured roman numeral stenciled on the armorial inset indicates a battle-brother's assigned squad. A larger dark olive coloured roman numeral stenciled on the left poleyn indicates an Astartes' assigned company.

Brothers of the Death Flowers chapter often hide their armour under cameleoline cloaks and in extreme cases even cover their whole power armours with this substance in order to blend perfectly with the environment they operate in. Such thing is directly against the Astartes culture of pride and honourable fight and was the reason behind many disputes between the Death Flowers and other chapters.

Chapter Badge

The Death Flowers Chapter badge takes the form of a stylised black-coloured flower, reminiscent of a morning glory flower, centered upon a field of olive green. This ancient symbol has been associated with mortality and death and has often been used as a representation of life and its finiteness.
