Chapter History
Coming of the Forgemasters
During the Kuznitsa Revolt, the Greyshield Chapter were visited and assisted by a Veteran Techmarine of the Iron Hands named Vitavar Res. The Techmarine fought with the Greyshields for the remaining duration of the revolt, all awhile teaching/ observing the Chapter in combat. The Chapter keenly embraced his teachings, later becoming the Crimson Tenth Chapter. After the revolt was eventually crushed, Vitavar Res stayed with the Crimson Tenth Chapter, rejecting calls to become the Chapter's first Chapter Master but becoming the chapters Master of the Forge. The newly appointed Master of the Forge elected Arigorax Mek, Greyshield Captain to become the Crimson Tenth's first Chapter Master. Vitavar Res showed his devotion to the Chapter as the Crimson Tenth had shown it's devotion to his teachings, by crossing the Rubicon becoming a Primaris Marine.

Chapter Beliefs
The Crimson Tenth obsession within the Forge is matched only by their expertise with both blade and flame. The chapter holds the belief that the weapons they create and wield creates a unique connection between the forger and the weapons 'machine-spirit'. This process has to become known as (name), the weapon is forged, blooded, wielded and eventually falls with it's craft father. When a battle-brother falls, his recorded deeds and forge-weapon are placed within the halls of the Fortress Monastery known as (name) to be remembered and revered.
The Crimson Tenth believe in protecting the lives of the average Imperial citizen where possible, but not at the cost of Tactical Acumen. When able the Chapter will go to lengths in order to protect the populous of a world. However, their sudden, heavy drop assaults and deployment of the 'Promethean Wall' tactics has led to casualties among the average population. The Crimson Tenth see the sacrifice of citizens due to such tactics as a price worth paying for the saving of millions, even billions of lives within a conflict zone.
Chapter Gene-Seed
Confirmed to be the Gene-Father of the Salamanders, Vulken. The Crimson Tenth derived originally from a 6 Company sized cohort of Greyshields during The Indomitus Crusade, tasked with defending the crucially important Scathrum Primus Dockyards. The Gene-Seed of the Chapter is considered pure to that of Vulken, it is yet to show any unique, chapter specific mutations.
The sons of Scathrum Primus, once implanted with the Gene-seed of Vulken harbour an obsession with besting what had come before and perfecting on what is now. For the Crimson Tenth, this has manifested itself in their obsession with the Forge and as weaponsmiths. The obsession has had an effect on their combat doctrine, with Battle-Brothers of the Crimson Tenth preferring to conduct tactics to see the enemy either consumed in wreaths of Promethean fire or feeling the cold, harsh steel of the chapters expertly crafted blades.
Combat Doctrine
- Specialising in Void Boarding and Void Planetary Assaults, the chapter has gained specific proficiency with deploying Hammerfall Bunkers alongside Firestrike Servo-Turrets as part of an initial planetary drop assaults. The Chapter deploys these assets with high volumes of Gravis-armoured Battle-Brothers to develop an immediate foothold, they then execute a 'Promethean Wall' producing a perimeter of flame that little can survive. Anything that comes through the wall of flame is engaged with Bolter and Blade alike. Once established they advance with shocking effectiveness, expanding or establishing new Promethean Walls if required or pressing home the advantage.
- Flame and Blade is the preferred weapons of the chapter, switching to their perfectly forged, personally crafted melee weapons as soon as tactically able to do so. Equally capable as any other Adeptus Astartes Chapter in the use of conventional and unconventional combat tactics, the Crimson Tenth have a heavy preference on Flamer/ Melta weapons and wielding beautifully crafted, balanced blades, hammers etc.
