The Crimson Dragons are a Loyalist Successor of the Blood Angels created during the ill-fated 21st 'Cursed' Founding. Due to the meddling of the Adeptus Mechanicus, this Chapter, like most chapters from its founding, has a long history of being plagued with rampant mutation and genetic idiosyncrasies.
Being a part of the Sanguinary Brotherhood, they harbor the twin curses, the Black Rage and the Red Thirst. Apart from this, other dragonlike mutations have emerged, notably large, draconic wings.
The Inquisition constantly monitors the chapter because of its mutation. There have been reports of some Chapters (namely the Dark Angels and the Marines Malevolent) refusing to fight beside the Crimson Dragons.

Chapter Gene-Seed
The Chapter's gene-seed was taken from the Blood Angels, their goal being to remove its deficiencies. The tech-priests did not succeed entirely, and though the effects of the curses are reduced, Crimson Dragons still fall the Black Rage and the Red Thirst.
Like their parent Chapter, a Crimson Dragon will develop elongated canines over time.
Dragonwings
The altering of the Chapter's gene-seed caused a prominent mutation found in some Crimson Dragons, resulting in vast, draconic wings. The mutation gives the ability to fly at great speeds, though the wings sometimes restrict movement. The wings are strong enough to carry the weight of a Space Marine in power armour, including wargear.
The wings are usually a combination of red, gold, silver, or white. They normally sprout 4-7 Terran months after the gene-seed is implanted.

Chapter Appearance
The Crimson Dragons have dark red power armour, with green eyelenses. They have dark grey power packs, black helmets, and golden pauldron trim, sabatons, gauntlets, and aquila. The Chapter symbol is white.
They adhere to a strict heraldic system that allows them to identify a battle-brother's company and operational role at a glance. The advantages of this are obvious in the thick of battle. The markings are more similar to that of the Flesh Tearers that the Blood Angels.
They use symbols from the Codex Astartes for speciality designation, white on their red pauldrons.
The Crimson Dragons use Low Gothic numerals on the poleyn for squad designation.
They use blood drops coloured in accordance with the Codex for speciality designation to denote company, painted over their operational symbol. For example, a battle-brother of the 2nd Company Battleline squad would have a gold blood drop over the battleline symbol on their pauldron.
The Crimson Dragons use the Codex as an outline for markings of showing rank. Sergeants have red helmets, Lieutenants have black helmets with three gold stripes. Veteran and Commanders have gold helmets.
The marines who fall to the Black Rage have their armour, like other Blood Angels successors painted black and their Company symbol replaced with that of the Death Company.
Chapter Badge
The Crimson Dragons badge is a picture of a roaring dragon with its wings outstretched and its tail curled.
