- — Raven Master Finn Ravensword after watching Primo Captain Aecuin Crohnaris get cut down by a traitor marine of the Emperors Children
The Blue Ravens are a loyalist Space Marine Chapter that was suspected to be formed around the 3rd-6th Foundings, though these details have been lost to time. The Chapter is suspected to be successors of the Ultramarine's and their Primarch Roboute Guilliman. The Chapter's home planet is that of the feudal world of Ravenspire within the Ultima Segmentum.
Within their fortress monastery based on Ravenspire the Blue Ravens continue to improve their close quarters combat mastery. They are notorious for their elite skill with close quarters weapons that some believe rival that of the Emperors own Custodians but the Blue Ravens deny this claim stating that no one would be able to rival Emperors Custodians.
Chapter History[]
The Blue Ravens were suspected to be formed around the 3rd through 6th Foundings, though these details have been lost in Imperial records. Not much is known about the Chapters early history apart from the fact that they were notorious in close quarters combat which is suspect to be why they have become an integral force for the Imperium of Man for battles and operations that require a quick and brutal fast attack force. Because of this reason they have earned a reputation of fear to all but the most stoic enemies of the Imperium.
Notable Campaigns[]
- Battle of Ravenspire (093 M34)
The Blue Ravens homeworld of Ravenspire was under siege by the Emperors Children the planets PDF forces were holding but would not hold for long without support, many towns and city's had fallen with their defenders either being corrupted or slain. It was the siege of the capital city that was also the Blue Ravens fortress-monastery that the Blue Ravens deployed the 3rd Battle Company to assist in the defenses. Despite the support of the 3rd Battle Company the PDF finally gave way allowing the chaos hoard to flow into the capital corrupting and killing everyone but even with this set back the 3rd Battle Company held the inner defensive emplacements. It was when their lines started to collapse that the Raven Master Finn Ravensword ordered the deployment of 1st Veteran Company under the command of Primo Captain Aecuin Crohnaris to Ravenspire. As soon as they arrived the 1st Company found that the 3rd Company's lines were in disarray with only a few squads left to mount a defense it was then that the Emperors Children launched a full out attack on the remaining defenders, the 1st Company was then ordered to charge into the lines of chaos Space Marines and did so willingly to defend their home. It was a brutal battle the Blue Ravens elite Raven Sentry squads attacked with their famous power sword and storm shields but despite their status as veterans even they could not hold off the Emperors Children. It was then when both the 3rd and 1st Company's were nearly decimated that Raven Master Finn Ravensword, Raven Champion Daniel Cobalt and the rest of the Blue Ravens arrived. But as they were pushing through to the surronded 1st and 3rd Company Raven Master Finn Ravensword watched as a traitor marine of the Emperors Children cut down Primo Captain Aecuin Crohnaris.
With the new reinforcements the Blue Ravens and PDF was finally able to push back the Emperors Children but it came at a terrible cost. Primo Captain Aecuin Crohnaris was slain surrounded by dead veterans of the 1st and 3rd Company's out of the 100 of each company that was at the start of the siege only 30 remained of the 1st Company and only 10 of the 3rd Company. It was this that the Blue Ravens declared that they would hunt the Emperors Children down to their last Marine.
- Siege of Rengarth (040 M35)
On the planet of Rengarth, tyranid spore pods rained down from the sky, bio-forms ran wild decimating defencive lines with overwhelming swarms of hormagaunts tearing through PDF troops as well as Imperial Guardsmen sent to assist in the defence but even they could not hold back the swarm this is when the Planetary Governor decided to call in astartes support from the Blue Ravens due to their skill in close quarters combat. As soon as the 2nd Battle Company arrived in orbit and started to deploy they saw that the tyranid's had already pushed the PDF and Imperial Guardsmen back to the hive cities with only a few manned outposts left outside of the hive cities.
Once the first squads of Blue Ravens led by Veteran Sergent Astilyn landed he had the PDF forces get all the civilians to evacuation shuttles as well as any injured Guardsmen, as soon as most of the civilans were off planet he ordered that the 3rd and 4th battleline squads take up positions near the palace then took the 1st and 2nd battle line squads to attack the swarm head on. As soon as they left the walls of the hive city they were met with thousands of tyranid bio-forms of which the lower ones were dealt with easily but as they started to kill more and more Veteran Sergent Astilyn disappeared and without his leadership the momentum of the 1st and 2nd quickly depleted causing them to have to fall back.
As they made it back into the walls the tyranids quickly breached them as started to swarm into the streets of the hive city this resulted in them having to fall back to the palace as the tyanids quickly overwhelmed the Imperial Guardsmen and PDF troops that were stationed around the city it was here that they made their last stand as the tyanids breached the gates of the palace the Blue Ravens fought with unmatched skill but even dispite this they were all nearly cut down if it was not for the rest of the 2nd Company to arrive and push back the tyranids it was then that Veteran Sergent Astilyn reappeared his helmet and armour broken along with deep cuts across his face and body. When asked what happened he said that he was ambushed by a lictor and was able to defeat it but at a terrible cost to him self, after being outfitted with several bionics he was back to full strength but after his near defeat he vowed to not let that happen to any one of his brothers.
