The Beasts Undaunted are a successor chapter created from the lineage of the primal Space Wolves. As an Ultima Founding chapter, they are comprised entirely of Primaris Space Marines however unlike their fellow successors of the sons of the VI Legion had their primaris gene-seed created from mutated samples sent in to the Adeptus Mechanicus to study the rate and risk of mutations in the Canis Helix. The chapter focuses very strongly on psychological warfare and assassination, carrying out the less than glorious tasks of Imperial warfare for the good of the Allfather.
Chapter History
As the 41st Millennium drew to its ultimate end and the Chaos grew stronger, Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines was revived from his stasis. With his resurrection came the arrival of his ancient work, Primaris Space Marines, a new breed of his father's transhuman warriors, superior to the original Adeptus Astartes in almost every way. Gathering the full strength of the Imperium's military forces and the Astartes, Guilliman claiming the title of Lord Commander of the Imperium launched his Indomitus Crusade outwards into the galaxy, to take the fight to Abaddon the Despoiler and the Ruinous Powers and to reclaim those worlds lost in the Cicatrix Maledictum. His ultimate hope, to restore the Imperium to its former glory.
With the revelation of the newly created Primaris Space Marines, Guilliman ordered a new Founding - the Ultima Founding. The Primarch ordered that new Chapters would be created comprised entirely of these new transhuman warriors. So began the Beasts Undaunted. Like all their fellow Primaris Chapters, they were created from one of the genetic lines of the nine original Loyalist First Founding Space Marine Legions. Interestingly, this newly conceived Successor Chapter was descended from samples of the gene-seed of Leman Russ - the Wolf King, the Primarch of the Space Wolves.
The Adeptus Mechanicus kept tabs on the nature of the gene-seed of all nine of the Loyalist Legions' successors, but the Space Wolves and their Canis Helix, were known not only to be highly prone to instability and even mutations, but also a catastrophic failure in terms of creating successors. Some samples from the Space Wolves' gene-tithe would be sent in for study due to being unusable as they had a mutation from the Canis Helix which altered the shape and function of their Ossmodula. Most of these samples came from the Great Company that would eventually come under the command of Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane.
Notable Campaigns
Chapter Homeworld
Gevaudania IV is a cold hilly planet whose solar system lay close to the Sarundrax Sector, where they first intercepted a transmission of the Oath Call of the Sons of Russ. The world was originally a penal-labour planet which took a large number of Fenrisian Prisoners and Krieg-born soldiers of the Astra Militarum that became too injured to fight. Over the few millennia, it was an unnamed world whose colonizing populations quickly intermingled, creating a unique culture that comprises elements of Fenrisian folklore and the Death Korps of Krieg's macabre fixation with death. The planet is primarily a mining world whose resources are gathered to make weapons for the chapter by the Adeptus Mechanicus' large weapon forges on its moon. The people of Gevaudania IV are alleged to take up the practice of vat-growing their population via artificial insemination in tanks in order to maintain the necessary labor force and to expand their population. This might be one reason why the population of the planet has exploded to nearly half that of Fenris herself.
Fortress-Monastery
The Beasts Undaunted's fortress-monastery, the Leucrottan Hall is a massive complex constructed out of the scrapped wreckage of a set of large Iron Warriors battle barges which fell to the planet's seas after a battle with the Imperial Navy flinging ash into the atmosphere and beginning the planet's lasting ice age, which appears to be somewhat unnatural.
Chapter Organization
The Beasts Undaunted use a unique hybrid of the traditional structures of Fenris and those of the Primaris Marines in their rank structure. This is due to the fact that they are not beholden to the history of Fenris' feudal structure as much as they are the Totalitarian military state of Gevaudania IV, but also because they are Primaris Marines and these organization methods are seen as a compromise which best suits their training and gene-line.

Line Ranks
- Longfangs - Longfangs are the elite coterie of veteran warriors of the chapter, just as the "Long Fangs" are in the Beasts Undaunted's progenitor Space Wolves. However, unlike their forebears, the Longfangs of the Beasts Undaunted do not serve as an equivalent to Devastator or Hellblaster Marines, but as the Terminator-clad "Veteran" Great Company of the Chapter.
- Hunters - The chapter generally refers to their standard, tactical-marine equivalents as "hunters" taken from the Grey Hunters of the Space Wolves
- Blood Claws - Blood Claws are fully initiated but still inexperienced marines who have yet to learn how to fully control the effects of the Canis Helix within their blood. While in other chapters these newcomers would typically be Scouts, reconnaissance and stealth are obligations seen as requiring far more tact and skill, which the overeager, highly aggressive youngsters are yet to have.

Chapter Beliefs
A Necessary Evil
The Beasts Undaunted are unique among the Ultima Founding scions of Russ in that they see the existence of their own Chapter, and buy in large the other chapters as a necessary. The Beasts Undaunted believe that the Space Wolves have a historical precedent of being largely unaffected by the Codex Astartes, and that the better solution would have been to have had all of the gene-sons of Russ in the Unnumbered Sons be given to the Space Wolves to bolster their ranks. They do acknowledge however that the Inquisition would never have allowed this and instead compromise on having successor Chapters. Interestingly, they exempt themselves and the other chapters made from tithed gene-seed that have a physical, genetic mutation such as those which result in their claws meaning that they or the other chapters have a genetic distinguishing factor which singles them out from other Space Wolves. They believe the Space Wolves must be unified and a homogenous brotherhood, and their mutations isolate them as a solitary beast to fulfill certain tasks.
Chapter Gene-Seed
The Claws Undaunted
The Claws Undaunted are a name given by the Beasts Undaunted to their unique genetic mutation. All battle-brothers of the Beasts Undaunted have a genetic alteration which causes a strange proturberance on their Ossmodula and affects other parts of their Canis Helix by changing the way their body processes the development of fingernails. The keratin of the fingernails grows at a rapid rate and through the same bio-mineralization process as the bones, becomes a similar mix of bone and metallo-ceramics as the rest of the Astartes' skeleton. This gives the Beasts Undaunted wicked, bony claws, about half to the full length of a standard human index finger, which will grow for a considerable period of time. These claws are very sharp and the chapter's Reiver units are known to undergo the painful process to serrate them with intricate filework and plate them in ceramite.

Chapter Colours
The Beasts Undaunted use a color scheme of a russet reddish-brown, the icy silver-blue of their Space Wolf progenitors and a dark grey around their arms, knee plating, and boots.
Chapter Badge
The Chapter Badge of the Beasts Undaunted is an icon of the Returned Wolf of their homeworld's legend in the russet color of the chapter's armor on their blue-gray pauldron.
Relations
Allies
In spite of their gene-seed mutation the Beasts Undaunted have come to the aid of the Sons of Russ and have become welcomed comrades and brothers. Their close proximity to the Sarundrax Sector has also been very beneficial as a base of operations for the Sons of Russ' campaigns into the sector.
Enemies
As with the Space Wolves and their other successors, the Beasts Undaunted loathe the Thousand Sons and their Daemon Primarch Magnus the Red with an unflinching passion.
